In the end of July a music festival takes place on my island. Many different bands are going to be there and my husband and I have decided to visit the festival on the day when one of our favourite Danish singers is going to play. I have heard about this festival before and I have seen the ads etc, but I haven't been there before, so it will be a new experience for me. I know that there are going to be lots of people and it is a festival for both adults and children. Have you ever gone to a music festival? What kind of music was it and did you enjoy it? Why/why not?

During my younger days,ie in the 60`s and early 70`s i used to attend many music festivals. In the 60`s when i was in college i used to go to what then were known as 'Beat Shows' where different bands used to perform on stage in front of college students. Those were exciting times and much fun.Later on my tastes changed i got interested in Indian classical music and i started attending music festivals where the great musicians of India would perform on stage.I have heard most of the well known artistes of today who in those days were budding musicians but were masters in their own fields and genres. Those wonderful days are gone and now there hardly are any music festivals which can compare with the good old days.

In my country some of the famous music festivals started in the early 70's. I was born in 1976, so I was too young to experience any of the music festival from that time. The first music that I really remember is from the late 80's/early 90's when I was a teenager. I don't know Indian classical music, but I would like to listen to it. My friend from India once sent me a dvd with Indian music, I don't remember the name of the artists, but it was a collection of music from Indian movies. I think that is the only Indian music that I have had the chance to listen to.

Thank you When I had read your comment I went to Youtube to listen to the music that you had mentioned. I have heard about the sitar before, but the other two instruments were new to me. I found the 3 different artists on Youtube and I have listened to all of them. I liked Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma the most, that music is so beautiful. The sound of the sarod is very different from the music that I know in my country. I am very interested in music from other countries and I plan on listening to all 3 artists again.

That would be very nice. I am sure it will be very enjoyable. I have been to a number of music festivals in different countries , but not in Denmark so far. I was once in Chengmai, a beautful city in the northern part of Thailand. There were traditional music played at the Water Festival time. That was really beautiful.

It must be interesting to experience music festivals in different countries I have been to some concerts in my own country, but I have never been to an international music festival. We have different music festivals in Denmark. The most famous music festival is a rock festival, but we have plenty of other music festivals, and it is possible to listen to many different kinds of music.

I have never heard about Bihu before, but it sounds interesting. In my country we have pop, rock and folk festivals, but dancing isn't a part of those festivals. One of the artists that my husband and I often listen to is coming to our island this summer. I have never seen her in person before and I look forward to seeing her and listening to her music. It is a festival where both adults and children participate and I think there will be a lot of people.
