There is no fixed rate for anything at all here, except the tasks, so where they 'gave you' the amount that you mention is a mystery.
We earn for our quality participation in discussions, which means that if you start a topic you must then comment on the responses and further the topic to make it into a discussion. You do NOT earn anything for the rsponses that others post on it . they earn for those.
You can also earn for using the search. You will receive random rewards when you use it correctly:

When you have uderstood how things work and are enjoying myLot you can then ask your friends to join and you will earn if they are active too.

If you are here putting the money as a priority, not if you want lots of money.
If you are here to make new friends while learning and earning at the same time then yes, it is the best!
I have been here over 4 years and I rarely miss a day. I have made friends from all over the world, while learning about their cultures and opinions and getting a different perspective on my own. All of that while making payout (and more) every month by being active.

Personally for most of us, you need to quit worrying about the amount you are making in here, and just have fun. The main object to this site is to Start New discussions as you have done here, and also respond back to others discussions when you can as well. Remember to always use quality over quantity, and find things you are interested in responding back too. The more active you are the better results you will see.

My friend! You can first of all read the guidelines of the site and the FAQ they are quite confused but you can learn the basis of Mylot. What I can tell is to make comment and discussion of good quality and don't think to much on how to earn. Search for discussion about your hobbies and comment them. When someone comment a discussion of yours or comment back to you give an answer to them.
In the end remember that you can earn with some reward Mylot give to use the "search the Web" bar for your searches.

Just be active respond as many as you can but with quality responses.Always respond as per the guidelines or your response can be deleted by admin.
Do tasks as frequently updated on the site.
Use search engine.
Make referrals & ask them to be more active.
Up load photos.
Hope you will earn more if you do these things.
