Eating an item previously recalled

I was thinking about having the IL's over for Father's day. Of course traditional summer fare around here is brats & burgers & hot dogs w/ water melon and various salads. Now the item in question are the Jennie-o turkey burgers, they were recalled nearly 2 months ago for possible contamination http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/03/turkey-burgers-recall_n_844146.html Now I really like these burgers they are juicy burgers and individual portions which is nice if you just want to make one at a time. So would you eat an item that was previously recalled? Would you feel safe eating it?

I would not eat them or serve them if they were in a recalled batch. On the other hand, if they were not in the recalled bunch.

I have not purchased them yet. I have had them previously, but would the idea they were recalled just a short time ago prevent you from buying them again?

Oh, in that case I would go ahead and purchase them because the problem batches have been removed. The company will actually be really on its toes to make sure the problem does not happen again.

I don't recall ever eating a recalled item, or at least unknowingly. But if I knew a food product was recalled I would be to afraid to eat it. Simply because my tummy usually does not do well with some types of foods and taking that kind of chance would be a no-no for me as the last thing I need is to take such a risk. By the way I have eaten the Jennie O burgers and you are right they are very juicy, hearty and delicious.

They indeed are. But I guess I should of phrased my question better as in buying after the recall was over.

If after the recall and it was not the identifying numbers of the recall, yes I would be daring to continue to eat them. I would take it as bad batches at the time. I would eat up and be merry. lol

I wouldnt I would still be concerned about the quality and plus the time difference has to be factored in the amount of time it took for them to be put back on sale could be tasting pretty rubbish now.

I would check the use by date (or the batch numbers or whatever identification the manufacturers provided). If it wasn't in the list of those recalled, I would have no qualms about eating them. A manufacturer doesn't want to make the same mistake twice!

Yes, I think I was responding to both possibilities! If you still had some, check the date and if you were going to buy some, I wouldn't worry at all!

I don't have any but I do like the product very much. As I mentioned to the previous response I should of phrased it better as I don't have the product now but have previously eaten it and would like to again.

are they made since the recall? or were they from the time of the recall... I wouldn't worry if they weren't from around the time of the recall we have more important things to worry about...

I have not bought them yet. But knowing they had previously been recalled concerns me.

I would not feel safe eating it, even if it was all recalled just to be safe and it was only like say linked to a batch sent out to say another part of your state, I'd still not eat it. That is just me tough and what makes some people sick won't necessarily make others sick.

I have probably eaten stuff over here that was recalled but would never knowingly do so. Those burgers sound great by the way! I would be scared as if it was contaminated by another product then it could be dangerous for some people. for example I have a severe allergic reaction to shrimp or lobster and would end up in hospital! Not good

If it wasn't the batch recalled, I'd be fine with cooking and serving the stuff. Thorough cooking kills nearly everything and I think many people who get sick from meat are not cooking it properly. When you think about it, it's amazing that we don't have more contaminated meats.

Check out the dates indicated in those recalled items. Once they are in the list, then have them returned. But i would never have them eaten, because i don't feel safe eating them anymore.

i definitely would not feel safe eating them. I am sure there must be another type of burger that is similar. Maybe you can ask some of your friends about burgers they sell locally.
