As I roam around the web I find favorite sites and sign up for their newsletters. One of my favorites is the Defenders of Wildlife. I enjoy hearing what the founddation is doing to help animals that are low in numbers around the world. Like the Sea turtle, wolf, dolphins, lions, etc. Numbers are deminishing and it is sad to see. Our great grandchildren may not even have the opportunity to see these animals in the wild. Here is a story about the passing of a legacy of family conservationists:
Dr. Nina Leopold Bradley carried on the conservation legacy of her father, the legendary Aldo Leopold. She used her voice to champion ecological values and the conservation of natural resources. Through her work, she helped us understand that as we work to protect the environment, we are also protecting ourselves.
"She truly carried on her father's mission and has been a personal inspiration to me throughout my career," says Jamie Rappaport Clark, Executive Vice President of Defenders of Wildlife. "Thanks to her vast research and rich legacy, her own 'green fire' will continue to burn."
Dr. Bradley died peacefully at her home in Wisconsin at the age of 93.
Do you have a favorite conservationist or personage?I like Jack Hanna myself. Do you have sites you frequent on this subject? Which ones?

I usually don`t visit such websites but i very frequently watch TV channels like Discovery, Animal Planet and Nat Geo, which have many excellent programs on wildlife conservation and conservationists. In India the most famous person was the late Salim Ali,who had dedicated his entire life to birds and their conservation. Then there is the well known American conservationist Romulus Whittaker who came to Chennai(Madras) over forty years ago and dedicated his life to setting up a snake and crocodile farm in that place. He is permanently settled there and is doing his best to save the endangered Indian crocodile also known as the Gharial and also many species of snakes. My niece, who is a vet, has been working with him since the last 4 years. He had seen her work and impressed with it called her to Chennai to work alongside with him. He is regularly featured in Discovery channel. There are also 3 or 4 people who became famous in the Save the Tiger project which was initiated by the late Indian Prime Minister Mrs Indira Gandhi in the mid 70`s.

I think those sites are great. Especially Nat Geo. There are so many conservationists and activists. I tend to forget that Indira Gandhi is gone now. She holds such a degree of wonder in my mind. What a person! Romolos Whittaker sounds like an interesting conservationist. Thanks for your input.

I am sorry, I will not lie to you, there are no such sites that I regularly visit or that I joined their newsletters.
That does not mean, however, that I am not concerned with the extinction of species of wildlife due to human activities. I guess it is just the fact that I am much interested in ways to stop the madness with global warming/ pollution etc, such as with renewable energy usage.
Therefore, sites that have to do with renewable energy and power conservation, those I regularly visit and research into these topics much.
Have a nice day!
