hello friends, i recently bought a cloth shoes more popularly called espadrelle shoes because it is in fad today and can pair them with skirts, dresses and cropped pants. i find it nice to the feet and good as casual and working shoes. cloth espadrille sandals are made out of canvas or cotton material with a rope-like detail along the wedge. but it rained really well the day before and i was not able to bring any slippers so that the shoes got wet and now stained. what to do? how do you properly care shoes of that kind to retain and maintain the look and durability of your espadrille wedges? i would love to hear your advise. thank you. ann

Sweety My feet size is 11+, i can't buy any shoe, sandal, slipper etc ready made, the biggest size avaiable is 10 only, the so called 11 size are not really 11, so i have to get my stuff made as per order, most are from pure calf leather and few from synthetic polymer, they look like and feel like leather, are so soft, though the cost is high, it is worth spending My shoes are dark tan in color, sandals are black.. About shoe care i brush them before wearing and polish once a week only.. Thanks for sharing God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘@Bhuwan@’. .

espadrille shoes - shoes called espadrille originated in spain
hi professor and richnai, it is nothing fancy. some looks like flip plops but not the plastic type. what i bought was covered front but with heels with abaca wedges in the sides. am trying to put on a picture of it here. i hope i get it posted. i tried brushing it with soap and water, well, i guess it did help a little. but i have to wait until it dries up. thank you for your response. ann

I think I would just toss them in the washer and run on light load. Then just let them air dry. I think the shoe stores have commercial cleaner preparations for cloth sneakers and shoes. Another option would be to take them to the dry cleaners.

hello yoyo, i think the soap and water has been very helpful. guess the trick is not to let the shoes dry up with the stain before it is cleaned. thank you so much for your suggestion. ann

hi tigeraunt those are coming back and were popular way b ack when I was a teenager and a young twenties person. I have no clue really as I have been doomed to wear the ugliest of boot like orthppedic shoes because I had a ruptured tendon in my left foot that was misdiagnosed until when I got to a foot specialist he could not reapir it . instead he put me in the horrible looking othopedic boots with a brace on my left leg. I love pretty shoes but cannot even wear them . even at 84 I like to look good and to look attractive not wear ugly shoes.

hello hatley, spadrille shoes are soft. and there are those that are open on the front where the toes are. maybe that would not be so hard on your feet. i hope you could wear one too. have a nice day. ann
