Is Fuel Injection service necessary?

A couple months ago, the shop recommended me a service that is Fuel Injection service, which might help clean up the accumulated carbon around the injector or something like that. The service cost of it was $89.00, and I was debating on myself, whether this service is necessary or I should skip it as well. I am much of a car - literate type of guy, and I might not have enough knowledge or experience with car services myself. So, here I would ask some of you experts here, would this service necessary? Does it help me to increase the fuel efficiency somehow? I may used some low - grade gasoline, like the lowest cost one from the gas station, and I feel that the gas consumption from my car was fast. What do you think?

I'm one of those "experts" who performs this service for our trade customers in this state (South Australia). Our customers range from independent Garages to dealerships to individual retail customers. This is a necessary procedure that should be done about every 100 000km. Ask for an off-car ultrasonic clean & test of your injectors. The best places will give you a full written detailed computer report. I know most businesses who do this for customers & from what I've seen here, no one does it better than us (me!)! Most on-car services, which for just $89, I think yours is, will clean some of the rubbish out of your tank & try to flush it through the injectors - which is not really a good idea. The injectors should be taken off & individually serviced so you can get all seals, strainers, etc replaced as well. This will not only save you money in the long run, as future problems can be identified & eliminated, but makes a big improvement in fuel economy as well as performance. The ultrasonic cleaning of the injector should take about an hour total. It actually works by pulsing the fluid around the lower half of each injector which is drawn up through the pintle of the injector to a certain level inside the injector. This loosens any stuck on rubbish inside the injector safely & thoroughly. They must then immediately be flushed through with test fluid & have their flow rates measured at several different settings at the vehicle's system pressure to simulate every possible vehicle condition. They should then be fitted & the vehicle driven as soon as possible afterward. If you are going to get the service done at all, you might as well get it done properly & get real value for money. Otherwise you may find the vehicle develops other problems & is back in the garage again sooner than you would like!

I think it could be a good thing for you to have done if you can afford it. It may help your motor and make your gas last longer too.

yes! i think this would be great, at least it will minimize air pollution and the car will work smoothly and efficiently. this will also prolong the life of your car. it would be hard on the budget though.
