What offense is so great that a politician should be forced to resign? I understand what Congressman Weiner did was wrong (the lying, the sexting...) but it should open up a discussion of where the line is.
How about you, in your country, what offense is so great that a political official should resign right away?

I think the only thing that Weiner did that was wrong was lying about it. I think that if you convicted of a felony, or lie then you should resign. But, I also think that it is up to the people that voted you into office unless the rules of office that you hold will not allow you retain your job. I don't think that Weiner should have been forced out especially by people who have let others stay in office for doing much worse than he did.

I would say when the person commits a felony or takes actions that blatantly violate the US constitution. Of course that would eliminate more than half of our congressman, senators, Supreme Court Justices, and the president himself so some would call me extreme for holding them to such a standard.
You'll notice that sexting and twittering photos doesn't really make that list.
