What to do if internet connection is too slow?

Good day fellow mylotters,
Before the internet connection that I used was very fast. Wherein, you need not to wait an hour to download a short video and you need not to wait a youtube video to buffer in order for you to watch for it. Since the internet connection was very fast.
But now, it is the opposite, the internet connection in my location was not that quick, so I need to wait longer hours while downloading a simple and short video. And not only that, I do even need to wait for the youtube video to buffer so it can finish the streaming.
Between the two above, of course, I want to have a quick and fast internet connection however, I dont have a choice now. It is not that easy for me to go back to the place where I have had experienced the fast internet connection. And since I am now here, I need to adjust or else, I will somehow feel regretfull with the situation that I am encountering regarding this slow internet connection.
If you were on my shoe, what to do if the internet connection is too slow?

Well I think I can really understand the pain of slow internet connection. Back in India, I enjoyed great internet service. When I decided to settle in Nepal. I seldom thought about the miserable condition of Internet connectivity here. It was so costly yet pathetic. I didn't sit idle and started a war against the ISP. The awareness effort from me paid and other users also started demanding for the speed that we have paid for. Hence, from last month I have seen steady progress in the internet speed and so far I get some where around 40-45 kbps. Which is by far the best. I hope with more awareness among the users the ISP providers would need to come with better connectivity and equipment.
So, check with the ISP, what bandwidth they are selling you and divide it by 8. Let's say if the bandwidth is 256kbps, it downloading speed should be some where around 30-35 kbps. If not then you are getting cheated by your ISP.

i don't want to pay for more expensive internet connection. i am quite satisfied with my internet connection because it is cheap. but loading of the websites is pretty fast or normal. but watching videos would be slow. but i don't watch too much videos anyway. so it is just fine for me.

If you were experience slow internet connection, did your service provider promise you a fast internet connection, but after while, the connection just slowing down? I felt the same with the Clearwire too. I felt that it is slower than AT&T, and the cable modem. I can't simply disconnect the service now, since I signed 2 - year contract with them. I hope that they can reboost the connection speed a bit.

hi,
i think if you couldn't help yourself to make your internet connection faster like before try to call in customer service so that they can check what the real root cause of it or the main cause of the slowing of your internet connection.if that will happen to me,i will rather do that as soon as possible if i dont have any idea of it.

OH! Thats not good. If your IP connection is too slow in the day time try its speed at dawn or morning. If you feel that it speeds up a little then the problem is the connection when too much users are online. Better apply for more faster connection, and i dont prefer broadbands!! theyre too slow.

If my internet connection is slow I usually try to delete some of the things that I no longer use, it doesn't always make a difference, but I think it is worth the try. If there is nothing that I can do to change the situation I choose to combine the time that I spend on the internet with something else. I often keep a book next to the computer so that I am able to read while the site loads or while I am downloading a game or something like that. That way I don't feel like I am wasting the time.

If there are other company that can provide you internet connection,then better check about it.
If there is none..then,all you need to do is be patient.
That is better than having no connection at all and don't have inter-action with friends thru net.
It sounds so desperate with slow internet connection..i use to have a slow connection before.
Good thing there are other companies that upgraded their service so,i changed my internet provider...
now i am happy with my net connection...i can download movies,watch youtube and open more windows at the same time..

There are certain time of the day when internet connection is really fast like during early morning and there are some days that it is really congested especially at night. Check from your ISP maybe they are doing some system upgrade.

It's to headache for me if the internet speed goes slow. I don't like to wait don't know it's my bad quality or what but i don't like waiting. THE PROVERB " PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE" so while taking internet connection i will get all information about speed of internet and then i will take it. But if i have already taken internet connection,so i will change the connection.
I will also update my antivirus protection as it is many thing for pc and also to run internet fast.

Is this a constant problem or like a certain time of day etc.? Check your bandwidth limit, and check if your internet connection is secured. Reason because it may be possible that people have access to you internet source and the bandwidth is being shared. Also, if you are reaching the maximum of your bandwidth your router might choose to minimize your allocation so that you will have longer access to your internet. Speaking of allocation, depending on how many browser/programs you have running, your bandwidth is being shared with respect to it.
Check "speedtest.net" and check your internet speed. Perhaps, your internet service provider is not giving you the proper amount of speed you should get.
Also if you are using wireless internet, wireless internet travels upwards. So it is best to have your wireless router in the bottom of your location.

well, me if the connection was very slow i will stop all my works, because i can't focus on what im doing. and i will go around and find computer shop that have a great access.

when my internet connection is slow, i would use some softwares that will help me boost my internet speed. like tcp optimizer or advance system care.one would be to use another internet service provider that would have a good signal on your location.

I hate when my computer starts running too slow. I usually try to clean up some extra disk space by deleting saved items i no longer need. I run my cc cleaner and my virus scanners. I run my disk defragment on my system and together this does help to make my running speed noticeably faster. I hope this advice has been useful from myself and the other mylotters your computer will be running faster in no time at all.

I would rather switch to new plan or even a new internet service provider! I am a work from home guy and most of my things are get done on internet only, so my needs may be different from those of yours but still a slow internet is not something that I can accept any more. I have lived through a period when there was only 1 service provider in my city and the services were very poor and slow, but not its fast and I am looking forward to even faster plans.
Now a days, we have the option of wireless networks as well.

I always get stressed out whenever my internet goes slow! It drives me nuts! All I do is just divert myself to something that I can attend on without using the internet. Then I'll check regularly if the fast connection is back if not, I just go to sleep. Haha! For your situation, you can always try looking for other internet providers. Another thing is to go online during off peak hours. But honestly, there really isn't anything you can do if the problem is location signal.
