Honestly, I don't like to spend time reading with that long discussion topic even if the title is interesting. I just wish that those who have interesting topics would keep their discussion short so that it will be fun to read and respond. What about you? do you feel the same? No offense to those who love to post 1 page discussion,,

I think people just post long discussions for the earnings. I usually do it for that exact reason. And plus, it's good to be as detailed as possible. But yeah, you're right, sometimes I just want it to get to the point, and I just press 'home' if I get tired and it's too long. P.S. All the comments on this discussion are short!

Don't get me wrong. I love love love writing long discussions and everything. I actually ramble a lot, so it happens inadvertently. Well this person did ask for my opinion, and I said it. I don't like reading long descriptions or discussions. And I'm not gonna waste my time bookmarking it either. I might scan it, but if I don't get it after a few minutes, I just simply move on. Easy as that. If I don't want to read it? Who cares. It's my decision.

Hi Keeegan_ess Sometimes in order to let everyone know what is going on, it takes a few paragraphs to get to the point. Not everyone is going to know what they are talking about if they are just very brief. I feel if you don't want to bother reading a long discussion, save it for later when you run out of short ones.. you might scan it and read part of it and at least get the gist of it. I sometimes save some till later so that when I run out of good discussions i still have some to get to. I will book mark them and come back to them. As long as they are courteous enough to make paragraphs I will read. If they make it all one paragraph, I will not bother. My brain works better when text is split up in paragraphs.

To be honest,i will respond to a long discussion only if the first few lines capture my attention, then i will read the whole post and respond.if not,i will try to understand what the discussion is about by reading a couple of paragraphs, then go to the end looking for the question the OP is asking,if i think i have a good idea about this, i will respond. of course i do prefer shorter posts, where the OP does not feel the need to make a "1 page discussion", but, when anyone takes the time to post a discussion, i think it's only fair i make an effort to read all or most of it.

I fell the same as you. I always complain whenever I see too long discussions. But if I really like the topic and it really interests me, I will read it. But if it's just a so-so topic for me. I won't waste time for it. I'm a little lazy to read very long discussions. And it's annoying especially if not all the sentences are really relevant to the whole idea.

Definitely. I really get put off by long discussions. I already have to read textbook the whole day and still when i come to MyLot, i still have to read such long discussion, i really rather give it a miss. It's too boring to read through such long discussion. Especially if the person's does not have good english, it makes things all the more worse.

That's me too. I don't like long discussion specially it lack sense. I mean it is not worth spending time reading because it doesn't make any good sense. hehehe... People who are busy don't want to spend time with topics that are non sensible.

Hi, It's true that I will have the valuable moment to read the long discussion. I'm not that busy that I don't even have time for that. It's nice to understand what people are experiencing in their life. However, for me, I prefer reading on hardcopy than on soft.

Don't you know that despite the situation that you are doing your whole day reading textbook or news papers, you can still have the valuable moment to read the portion of the long discussion? well, for me still I agree of the idea that the more you write the more points you get, the more you read the sharper the conprehension will be....so you have benifits, right? But still short discussion is still relevant for the busy one.

Actually, it depends on the topic. If the topic is interesting and informative , i would take time to read it even if it is long . Then, i would give my opinion or comment on it. However, sometimes the title is so interesting, but then the discussion is long and it's just beating around the bush, i would stop reading once i thought it to be so and find other topics again.

that is right too, It depends upon the topic but then long discussion like one page is not really good.

You could miss a lot by not reading. I read long discussions, as long as I can make sense out of them and they interest me. The only thing I won't read is if the person put the whole discussion into one huge paragraph. I won't read that, but if they break it up into smaller paragraphs, I will give time to the discussion. Sometimes I read part and scan part if it is really long. I get the gist of it and know how to respond. I also look at some of the other responses if there are any.

Well, you are doing the right thing.. and am sure you are not a lazy reader like me. Anyway, if the discussion attracts me a lot maybe I will spend a little more minutes but if it is pointless, I will just skip to it.

Well, to me, myLot is a discussion site. In order to have a discussion, there has to be something of substance to actually talk about. It's not about "saving time" or "working quickly" or responding to as many topics as I can. I put a lot of thought into my responses and comments and also into the topics I start. If people don't want to put in a little time, this probably isn't a site that is going to be very satisfying to them in the long run.

That is also a good point but if a discussion is too long, only very few people would have the patience of reading it carefully specially if the topic is not interesting. Well, a long discussion is worth to spend time reading for others.. but not to all people.

Hi Bebs! If the topic is very informative and interesting to me, I would respond. I'd go reading it and respond after. However if the long post is not interesting, I have no patience.Inasmuch as I avoid responding unless I've really read the post in its entirety, I'd rather just not respond on long discussions. I don't want to commit the mistake of being out of context. Besides if our desire is to make the most of our time here at mylot reading long discussions is not advisable. So unless the post is really very, very interesting and informative I don't think it is practical for me to spend time reading and responding to very long discussions.

The length of a discussion is not important to me. If the topic is of meaning and interest to me, I will respond. I believe it's not just my opinion that must be given, but, also a message re what I have to say. In some discussions it is important to spend time, do research, and give a good deal of thought to what is being said. It's easy to say "I like chocolate ice cream better than vanilla" and that's valid as well. But the topics of major import require much introspection and care. We can choose what topic we want to respond to; thank God we still have that freedom, although our freedom of speech is being diminished daily.

I also read short response mostly unless I feel interesting to read on. Yes, very few times I wrote lengthy message when I had lots to say and inform people. However, I never cross 1 page though :-p lol Yes, you are right in thinking that long discussion bore sometimes and I feel sleepy to read on.

If they keep my attention then I don't mind at all. Some longer ones are really interesting and I just cannot stop reading and when their done I'm like man I could have read that forever. Some are too short and some are way to long. For me, if it's good it's good. =)

Rediculous, sometimes people may say that you need to pour out your ideas in the pages,in fairness to those who wanted to give their discussion a little bit long, they are doing that I supposed because they want to give ample explaination. But I think your also right, to save time...

Well, if they want to pour out their feelings, they should shorten it because people are bored with long discussion. Those who want to detail everything, they should start a blog and do it there instead of writing their blog type discussion here. No offense.. it is just my view.

Yes I have responded to long discussions and will take the time to read it in total. I have several listed friends who do long discussions and do well in writing them, so they are understandable. There are times that it may be quite long so I make sure if I am reading it to read it slowly so I understand the key points. There are many times too that I have responded to short discussions and some of them could be well written and some are not. My thoughts is depends on my length of time here so that I can apply fair thoughts after reading them.

I don't have an issue with length, just as long as the content is of interest to me and/or the person writing the content is of interest to me. Short is fine if the topic is covered substantially and long is fine if the content isn't redundant.

I agree with the above.. Most people post long discussions for the sake of earnings.. and why shouldn't they? At least this earning system pretends them from spamming one-word sentences in every topic. Could you imagine what would happen if you would earn the same no matter what you say? horrifying:P But to add something to this conversasion.. there is a greek saying, that ancient spartans came up with, that goes like this: "To lakwnizein esti filosophein" meaning "to talk a little but say much is most wise "
