As all home school moms know, we are constantly planning our school days. I ws wondering if anyone who is on summer break now is planning for next year? I am a little bit. I am tryig to find a Math U See division program that I can borrow for next year or buy cheap.
I am also trying to figure out where I want to start my daughter as she should be starting her freshman year but I am just not sure that she is ready for high school. She reads below grade level and she is a little behind in math, but she is improving.

Well from a lot of things I have learned from research etc. it really depends on what your daughter is wanting and saying. The teachers out there these days are just another human being where others are concerned.

Teachers aren't what they used to be. I find that many of the public teachers just feel that they do not need to do anything extra to help a student and that is not the way that teachers should be. All kids learn differently and it is important to be able to connect with the student.

I have never homeschooled, but I have tried to keep the children where they need to be throughout the summer. I am lucky with my youngest that she loves to read...but the oldest girl was a challenge. I had to find her genre...lol..what appealed to her as far as reading. Well...let me tell you...the vampire love stories like Twilight has really raised her reading levels in the past..LOL. I think it is a matter of finding what they enjoy to read.
The math..well..that is a monster..LOL..there are some great websites with math games on it my daughter uses....if you want...I'll PM the link to you...they use it in the public schools here to tutor math.

I would love to have the site. I know that we use several throughout the year. We are slowly improving with the reading and math, but it is slow. I am hoping to take her to Sylvan this summer and get her started there as well.

I used to do this all of the time when my daughter was in school. She has graduated now though. Always helps to plan ahead.

If I don't plan ahead, we would never accomplish anything. I find that if I can start the year off strong and have several plans already made, we are doing really good.

You just basically teach your children what they would learn in school. It is different in different states as to whether testing is required or not. I studied elementary education in college, but I don't have a degree but there are great programs for home schooling subjects that you do not know yourself.
