Having some chest pain, but don't think it is heart related...

yep... I'm having some chest pain.. more like a hurting in my chest that goes through to my back.. it was slight before, but now it is stronger and very uncomfortable. I'm a nurse, so I know what the signs of a heart attack is, and I'm not thinking it is heart related.
I'm just sitting here writing about it until the pain wears off. I asked my daughter for a Prevacid for stomach acid. Maybe it is heartburn? I'm hoping that is all it is. If the pain doesn't go away I will go to the ER, but I don't want another hospital bill to pay.
I have insurance (Medicare) but that isn't enough when you go to the ER... it pays 80% and you have to pay the 20%. I think it is easing off now, so maybe it was acid reflux or something.
Have you ever had chest pain that felt like heart pain? Mine feels like heart pain, but I have no other symptoms... I'm sweating, but it is hot... so that is natural for me to sweat.
It's eased off now... if it comes back I may have another plan.. like going to the ER.. but really hope I don't have to.
While I am writing this .. it's starting to come back again.. and my left jaw is starting to hurt some... damn!
I'm going to go sit out with the family for awhile and see if this pain wears off... I will have my iphone near me so I can chat back with you all... you can keep me company while I wait and see if I need an ambulance... stubborn nurses!...

Hi, PQ
I have seen on your posts that you are OK now, but it can be good to check with a doctor you trust.
I have sometimes had this kind of pain, but I prefer to test some things before thinking it is a heart attac.
One thing is that if I write a lot on my computer, I need to stretch the muscles in the upper part of my back, and the soulders too, and most times it helps.
If you have a stabile chair, you can try to lean backwards as far as you can and also stretch the arms backwards. About 15 - 20 seconds of this may help.
I guess you know more ways to stretch, so just try which of them helps best.
I am taking very efficient food supplements since 12 years, and I have no medication at the moment and am happy for that. You can read about it on gnld.com and see if it would be something for you too.
Wish you good health..

It is a good thing it is over
If it comes back, maybe better do a check with the doctor.

Hi Buena
I'm doing well now. Not sure what that was. I've had similar pain since but not ver bad. I still kind of think it might have something to do with having gall stones. I know I have them but the surgeon said to not do anything unless they cUse me discomfort. Not sure if that is what it is or not.

Oh no if it gets any worse do make sure to get this checked. Yes nurses and doctors make the worse patients.
Thought I make you laugh for a second or two.
Yes I have had a great deal of chest pain in the last several months, but mine is related too much anxiety and worrying and at times I wonder if something is wrong, it does calm down when I do as well.
But please PQ, we only live once therefore, if it is something out of the norm, do go to the ER and get it at least checked. If is only heart burn, then great, but if it is more you cannot delay as anything remedied with time always has a better outcome.
I will be here praying and hoping you are okay.

Thank you HWG. I'm feint some better now. My daughter gave me a diet mountain dew and I started burping. Maybe it was trapped gas. I also took some Tylenol PM and I think that is helping. Thanks so much for the prayers. Also thanks for sitting up and keeping me company.

You are welcome and I am glad it was nothing serious. Though if you feel it again any time soon make sure to see your regular physician.

Hi Steph,
I'm glad I'm not hurting anymore either... it was really uncomfortable. I drank on a diet mountain dew and I started getting rid of stomach gas like you wouldn't believe... it was either indigestion or possibly gall bladder. I did have some straight through (like an ice pick) pain earlier in the day and I associate that with my gall bladder. I get some really bad ones.. that could have been it. I know I have gall stones.

Well it was about 2 months ago when I was admitted into the Hospital with Chest pains and them thinking it was my Heart and did all the tests, and found nothing. So I can relate with having Medical bills from that. I hope that things have gotten better for you, and even if you did not go to the ER you brought this situation up with your regular nurse and maybe they gave you something to help.

I've been having the same pain.. I had it really bad the other morning, it really hurt even just to breath. It went away and then keep coming back a few times. It's been on and off for the past week... I have graves disease which is an overactive thyroid and when it plays up one of the symptoms is heart pulpertations, so I just thought it may have been related to that?? Hopefully It's nothing serious!
Hope your feeling better

Let's hope it's just heart burn that's causing the pain. Be careful having an enlarged heart must carry some need to be cautious...

Don't wait get some medical help!
I just got out of Hosp from having bypass surgery and my hurt was just like that. Dr told me that the vessels on the back side of the heart will show the pain in the back sometimes.
I hope that you will stop denying the pain and get medical help. WE like having you around so we can discuss things.

I got better later that night. I've had it again but not as bad. I just hate to go to the ER for something that is nothing. I don't like having more bills. If I ever have it worse than I had I will go.

Thanks Hatley for suggesting the aspirin. I don't have baby aspirin but I have a regular 5 grain aspirin and just took one. I think it is either gall bladder or indigestion. I am burping a lot with the mountain dew. Thanks for the prayers dear friend. I'll probably go lay down in a bit. I just don't want to over react and go to the ER when it is nothing. I got the oxygen on and that seems to help also. I'm supposed to sleep with the oxygen but I rarely do.

It could be muscular if you have been doing strenuous work or exercise that are not used to using those muscles, but honestly it sounds more like a gallbladder attack to me. I would go to the ER but they probably won't do anything for you. It is like pulling teeth to get your gallbladder out anymore. Not like it used to be.

I know...my doc sent me to a surgeon and he did a scan and told me I have gall stones and diverticulosis. So it was probably gall bladder pain. I'm not hurting now thank goodness. I was a little anxious about the pain but didn't want to over react.

I wish you go to ER and check up. In 2007 once I had like this and I went for check up. BP was ok. pulse was ok. then they wanted to go ahead with other checks. I got confident and came out. they permitted. charged $1000 and my daughter had to pay $200.(balance insurance)
Pl go for check up. I wish you speedy recovery.

hi Pointless please see the ER even if its another bill for you. Better have another bill to pay than something small turning into big health trouble later on. You are a nurse so you have the needed background knowledge but its better to have a doctor check that out.

Hi RitterSport. I feel better today. I don't know what that was last night. I knew it wasn't heart pain. I'm glad I don't hurt now. It might ha e been gall bladder problems. I just don't know.
