I was talking with a friend, we talked about putting up businesses and being ready about everything especially on how to run a business... and then we talked about how hard it is being an employee and how limited your salary can be. Then this friend of mine gave me a comparison:
1. being an employee gives you your expected amount of money every month ( you only spend according to your means)
being a businessman (not really huge business) would mean you do not know when business will be good how much you will take home in a month - all depends on sale, on business.
2. being an employee only gives you the specified time you are taken away from your family - 8 hours a day, 9 hours including your lunch break. hehe about 40 hours a week.
being a businessman might take more than 40 hours of your time.. you need more time to make sure your business i running, and you need to be all hands on to make it work. you cannot trust others to run it for you, right?
hmm anymore comparisons have you thought about?

Being an employee is never better than being a businessman because you could never get rich while being an employee. Businessmen has all the time in the world while employees have their bosses that calls them every now and then. Aside from that you could not have access to what the world can offer if you don't have enough money for personal leisure.

If you're thinking short term, then being an employee is better than owning a business. When you're an employee, all you have to think about is yourself. You don't worry about other peoples problems until they begin affecting your performance, You're not required to take on other responsibilities. And even when you take on other responsibilities, it's not taxing to do so. You have time for other things, other interests. All you have to do is work right.
But if you're thinking long term, then owning a business would be best. Owning a business is an investment. You don't want to be an employee for the rest of your life, where you have a boss to answer to, and the risk of being dispensable, do you? When you own a business, you control how you run your business. You're the one making money. You provide a service. And the best part about owning a business is you have some control on how long it runs. You can change it according to your needs, and according to people's needs. I'm working my way towards owning a business. I'm saving up for a capital. I'm planning to own a clothing shop. I'm not exactly sure how good a clothing business is. But it's just as much a need as food is. so I hope it works out!

My husband is currently in that position, he is handling the businesses of his boss while still maintaining his 8-5 job. We really need the extra cash as we have so many debts and expenses to clear. Anyway, it is a good training ground for him when we eventually venture to put up a business of our own.
Having a business is a lot stressful than when you are an employee. The only problem you have if you are an employee is delivering what is expected of you as it relates to your job description. If you are into business, you need to face problems with suppliers, how do you pay your creditors, how do you manage your receivables, etc.
There is greater risk in starting a business. But if you can make it work, it would give you more income than what you are having as an employee.
An upside I can see in being employee are the benefits that go with it. We have free health insurance and an opportunity to travel overseas. Although you can still do so if you are your own boss but it comes with a price already.

When your goal in life is to get rich, then don't be an ordinary employee. Be the boss of the company.
But frankly, you can get rich when you venture into a business that could rake you lots of profit. However, it will take so much of your time, unlike an employee who is only working for 8 hours a day, lunchtime excluded. And you will be pressured a lot, because you have to take care of everything.

Being an employee will never make your rich. Although being a businessman never guaranteed you riches (especially when you don;t know how to handle your business). Bottom line is you should love the craft that you have.

Choosing between having our own business and staying to be an employee sure have their respective pros and cons. Realistically we should choose on what we ought could be most beneficial for us and is complimentary to our needs.

The more risk u take the more u will be rewarded. yes. share market is risky. some people succeed in that also. many people fail in that.
With me I tried investing in mutual funds. Wherver I go prices come down. That is my luck.
I was working in a bank not willing to take risk. Nowadays there is no guarantee the salary also will be paid. There are employers who default in paying salaries, provident funds etc. in India.
