Do you respond to discussions that already have many responses?

Hello fellow myLotters, Do you respond to discussions that already have many pages of responses? Or, do you refrain from responding to discussions with many responses, afraid that you post will only be ignored? Personally, I tend to skip discussions if they already have several pages of responses. However, sometimes I do skim through, and if I can add anything to another member's response, I will. What about you?

Yes I do respond to discussions that have several pages of responses and I too do like mysd above where I start with the first response as the guidelines say and as I read through them if I can add comments I will. When I get to the end if I can still add more I will definitely add my response. It is a great way to see if my response has already been added, so I do not duplicate and also there may be a few new things I can learn along the way.

I did not add that no I am not worried if my response is ignored as sometimes there really is nothing further the discussion starter can add. I do feel like when I respond it adds to the discussion, therefore, I do not worry.

I am sure it can be done, I just wonder if they initially did not think that the growth of the discussions would be so huge. I wonder if we can bug GAA to put this on his to do, so to speak, list for the developers. HWG is thinking....

I am not sure how, or if they could make it automatic... but I am assuming since we can receive notifications for other things, we could just as easily receive them for responses/comments to our responses/comments. At least I am hoping. ;) I am sure the admin can think of something! :D

If I can relate to the topic and there are already many responses then I start at the first one and add comments all the way through while reding them. Then when I get to the end I add my own response too.

Wow, what a great strategy! I never thought about doing that. However, the topic would definitely have to be interesting to me, and be something I can relate to. I believe I will have to try that! It seems like the best way to do it honestly. I bet doing so will greatly increase your earnings too! ;)

You also get to meet a lot of new people too and if they come back and comment on your comment, that's when the fun starts too

It depends on the topic. If it interest me and if I can add my own personal response, Yes I will, or if I can add something more than what others have. If its a specific question and it has been answered I think twice about adding my comment. I think it really does depend, if its someone I know would still read and respond accordingly...

Hi pinklilly, I agree, specific questions that have already been answered many times, with similar answers, are not worth answering again in my opinion. ;)

We are supposed to read through all responses before putting our own which is a tedious thing to do but I am told some do it. I will not have the time for it. I will put in my response if I find the topic interesting and it may not 'hold water' if someone has already given a similar opinion there but my response will not be deleted. I am not adept at commenting on responses to topics created by other users but that is my next goal.

I am glad you brought this up. Firstly Angelee it is against guidelines to speculate how one earns here "Post anything that inaccurately explains the myLot earnings algorithm. Our myLot mathematicians have worked long and hard on our elaborate payment system and we wouldn’t want any of our users to make them feel inadequate by breaking their algorithm in minutes" Users may not break the algorithm per se but categorically stating that if you do this you earn more or if you do that you earn less and so on is surely a no no here. And getting into someone else's box is yet again something like responding out of turn so to say. I have attended several meetings offline where discussions take place but they are organised ones and no one butts in. It can mess up that topic in my humble opinion. I have gone through those discussions where even before the topic creator has time to comment on the responses received someone else will do it and the topic creator stands there gaping. I will not like it.

Hi allknowing, Commenting on responses to topics created by other users can actually increase your earnings quite a bit! Especially if they comment back, and so do you... on and on again like a long chain of words. :D

Ho can taking something which is stated in the FAQs, emphasising it, and sharing it with others, be 'speculating'? allknowing please read what myLot tell us to do here: "What can I do to increase my earnings? What an excellent question, and one we hope every myLot user will ask. Use myLot, post discussions, respond to discussions, comment on discussions, or perform searches. Post quality content. For example, generate discussions that engage other users and provide insightful responses and comments to other users discussions to further the topic Refer friends. For each person you send to myLot you will receive a bonus equal to 25% of their discussion and image earnings." http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx#14 You may not like it when others butt in but this is not achool or an organised meeting. MyLot tell us to have FUN. Those that loosen up and do so here get the best out of myLot. Sad that you don't see that aspect of it too

well it does not really matter if a lot of people have respond to that discussion. what matter most is having your information to be past along. i saw any discussion that i know something about i don't mind response to it or response to another member response what matter most is tell you information count. the person that generate the discussion may be a new user if he/she saw a lot of responses on is discussion this will also encourage him/her to response to other people discussion

Hi adex19, Thanks for responding! I agree with you! If a user sees a lot of responses on their discussion, it does encourage them to respond to them... which is very good for their earnings, as well as gaining knowledge and friend! :-)

I usually respond to them no matter what. Even if it doesn't help the poster, it still feels good to respond to them.

I'll only respond if the discussion has an interesting topic, or if a response intrigues me, I might drop a comment. Even if the author has selected a Best Response, if I feel the need to comment, I will. Making money is nice, but I enjoy coming here and chatting with people--it's fun!

i respond to discussions i have answers for. the other responses do not sway be at all. i speak my own opinion and my own answers. if i don't have an answer, or i see a question that may interest me, i do read the other responses to see how others have responded.

If i got ideas to share about that particular discussion, i will surely respond to it no matter that discussion have many responses or not. Because i can only reply to discussion that i have ideas to share. I usually, prefer to stay away from discussion which i don't really understand. I don't want my reply to look weird and out of topic from the discussion. Happy mylotting, my friend...

Depends on the discussion. If I think I have anything I can say, then I'll say it. However, if I don't think I can contribute at least one decently-sized paragraph Then I don't reply because in my opinion that's not worth my time and skill. Not to say I'm a perfect typist, but I mean it in the sense that anything less then what I considere to be a decently-sized paragraph isn't worth the effort. If I respond to anything, it's got to have some level of debth to it.

Well, if the topic is of interest to me, why not? I will usually start by reading the other's comments but it is usually halfway done Then when I feel that I have something to say, then I will start to write my response.

I'll skip this discussion. Not really, I respond to discussions that have an interest to me. If I feel I can contribute then I contribute.

hi angelee yes if I am really interested and can make an intelligent' response I will do so especially if its by one of mylot friends. I do not care if there is two pages or ten its the discussion that is interesting me enough for me to respond. Why should the numberof pages deter me if I wanted to respond?

I don't think the number of responses really matters to me. I usually look at the question and whether or not it's relevant to me. If it's a question that's pretty intriguing and interesting, then I'll probably respond to it because I usually have more to say. And it's sort of fun voicing your opinion on this, especially when you're really opinionated like me. I also think that it's pretty fun to argue with people that have different opinions as you on this site. I don't mean like being mean and internet yelling or whatever, just telling them why they think you're wrong and you're right.

Well,I comment if I like the discussion or if I can relate with my experiences and knowledge to the topic.Sometimes if the words in my mind are already use by others so I decided not to comment.I like to comment first in any discussions I want. It's nice to read and share in any discussion so that different ideas and knowledge will be collected in a topic. But sometimes comments of others are almost the same.

Hi Again Angelee, I will be more thrilled seeing a lot of responses and comments being entailed from names to names. Those discussions I think has a lot more to offer. Like now, I started reading your discussion upstairs and I came with a happy and cheery reactions. I realized that people here were so lively and they make the discussions moving. Thanks Dennis

I will respond to any discussion as long as its something i want to discuss i dont care how many people responded before me
