What are your views on surgery to change your face?

Also known as plastic surgery, or the other kinds. Many people nowadays are starting to hate how they look and seek plastic surgery to change their appearance. They hate the shape of their eyes, the size of their nose, and many other features that they were born with. Most of them do this so they can gain the acceptance of society. In a way, they are thinking rationally. Society has definitely imposed an image of beauty upon us. Our society and the world around us is saturated with "beautiful" women. And the image of beauty that society imposes is usually unattainable. Many of the pictures of "beautiful" women are Photoshopped in some way or another. In that way, we can never be perfect. But people shouldn't hate themselves. People shouldn't have racial hatred. They should be happy with the features that make them different from others! Eyes shaped differently are unique and should be seen that way. I also heard about this epidemic in Korea, where many Koreans are getting surgery to make their eyes bigger. It truly makes me sad that these people hate who they are. They hate who they were born, and they think that their eyes are mistakes just because they're not similar to bigger Western eyes. So what do you think about this? Do you think it's acceptable by any means? Please. I'd really love to hear your view. And by the way, I think all women are beautiful just the way they are.

as of now, i don't know if it's a sin if your going to upgrade our face... no comment on that way.... but expect negative or positive results if done by not medically expert...

Well, I honestly think it's a sin. If you're going to look at it in those terms, then yes. If you believe in God, then you should know that God made you in his own way. You're basically changing yourself because you think God made a mistake with you.

Well, in God's eyes, probably yes.

Oh wow, how very modest to say about yourself...Well, if you really do look that good, then that's good for you. At least you have the right mindset not to get plastic surgery.

If it's for therapeutic purposes, I have nothing against it. The only reason why I am against plastic or cosmetic surgery to alter a person's natural appearance is the possibility of complications in the future. In fact we have seen victims of unsuccessful surgeries, or cancers as adverse effects of some chemicals being introduced into the body. I respect those who resort to it but at the same time I feel sorry that they had to go through procedures in the name of beauty when in fact, when we die, and when we age, it all goes away anyway.
• United States
5 Jul 11
That does bring up an interesting point. You die with the beauty you lived with. And it ultimately becomes a waste of money. But then again, everything we buy or do on this earth ultimately becomes a waste of money as well. We do it to enjoy the time we have on this earth. I don't like the idea of chemicals introduced into the body, though. We should go natural with what we put into our bodies.

meaning, it has an expiration.... for example: a good big picture tattoo in his body... but soon as the person grows older... that tattoo looked good before but now looked more depressed because of the changes in the skin shape due to old age....

I think, all people are stupid if they think they're ugly.. you were born that way, and you'll always be that way one way or another, and if you look in the mirror and make a grossed out face then you have problems, plastic surgery may make you look a bit better, but it only ruins your life, and if you're thinking about plastic surgery.. think about how long you've been you, looks arent everything, infact, they cant even be called something. If you look at personality in your partners more than looks, then look the same way at yourself. that is all:D:D I'm sorry, I just feel real strongly against plastic surgery..... ew.
• United States
5 Jul 11
Well you should feel strongly about it. People are so obsessed with looks nowadays, and they shouldn't be. We should focus more on the real beauty of inner beauty. How it's more beneficial to us. We were born this way, and we shouldn't change how we were naturally made. I do agree with @mantis36, though. If there is something wrong with your face, you should be able to change it.

and plastic surgery is only good if it's emergency like traces of burns in the face, because of the that, it's an unsteady for the feeling to walk outside if there is something in the face, and besides, this is due to accident.... that is one of the exceptions.....

Hello Keeegan_ess, I feel there is no harm if a lady undergoes plastic surgery because its her right to look beutiful and no body has the right to say it wrong. There were time when one had nothing to do except crying to look after her/his bad looks but now days have gone & technology is developed that every one can take advantage of it and avooid crying for whole life. Offcourse looks have its own importance. People do get attracted towards beutiful people though physical beauty is immaterial even then i too when see some beatiful lady on the way i don't forget to see her again. This is human nature & when we have got the technology then why not we improve our looks and don't feel inferior.

I also see your point. It's true, it's her decision to undergo plastic surgery. But the thing I have a problem is is why they do it. I'm not talking about plastic surgery to remove wrinkles and give yourself a more youthful appearance; I'm talking about plastic surgery to change your whole natural look because you feel you're not good enough. And society is influencing this behavior. Outer beauty is all that's important to us anymore, and that's not how it should be. Society is making people feel like they're inadequate and essentially ugly. And that's not good. That's why most people have plastic surgery. Because they feel that they're ugly. I mean, if society and the media had said that uni brows and giant noses were looking beautiful back then, then we'd probably all want that look. I know that the idea of beauty can date back to the Greek, but society and the media has still had a big and dramatic influence on us.

I have nothing against surgeries/plastic surgeries to change one's facial/physical features. Medical advancement is a a talent that needs to be applied to those who need it. If it makes someone happy then maybe we should be happy for that person too.:)

As for myself, i don't wanna change the look i have right now because this is how God made me. I love every imperfections i have and all the faulty curves in my body hehehe! Maybe when i grew too old, i will have to do some physical "makeover", but not plastic surgeries. Have a nice day mylotters!

If you do want a makeover, always do it naturally. By that, I mean that you should work yourself out and use natural ingredients on your face. There are so many fruits, vegetables, and nature-made ingredients that have healing properties for your face. You should always do something natural. And plus, old age isn't a bad look. Good for you for choosing that route!

Hi Keegan_ess! I said i maybe when i grew old, it't too early for me to decide then, i am still young. Who knows my face don't need makeover when i am in my old age.:) Yes, i know natural is more beautiful, and also, for now my BF is not complaining about my appearance, so it just means that i am beautiful in his eyes...heheheh

Well I think surgery on the face should only be done on a person if the face has been damaged some way and you need to do it so you can have use of you face for general living. I dont believe that you should get surgery just to make your face look better if there is no problem with it. God made you to look as you do and you are messing with god if you change the way you want to look. Messing with god is not a good thing. You should be happy with how you look.

Totally agree with you on this one. If someone had their face burned or something else traumatic happen to their face, I think they should be able to go and get some plastic surgery done so people won't ridicule them.

unless i have a big scar on my face or anything that really needs medical attention, then that would just be the time that i'll go to a plastic surgeon. i am not beautiful, nor i have perfect face, but i am not insecure on what i have. for me, those people who are not contented of themselves are just insecure persons who doesn't know how to appreciate what they have.
• United States
5 Jul 11
If you have a scar or some other big unsightly thing, then I think you should get it. If it's something small or just your looks, I think otherwise. But then again, it is ultimately up to the person. I think that everyone is beautiful, and they shouldn't have to feel so insecure as to have plastic surgery.

I have my own view with this topic, my face is full of imperfections and I really want to correct those imperfections but unfortunately, I don't have the money to do so. I wanted to do those things because I really have a very poor self confidence because of my face. I felt that I am always discriminated because of my face, i even thought that my face is a big factor why I have a hard time looking for a job. I know that having a plastic surgery isn't good or safe at all but I have the option i think I would go for it.

Well, if you're okay with it, then it's totally your choice. I know society has placed a big strain on outer beauty and how people look, when it really shouldn't matter. That being said, it doesn't mean you shouldn't care about how you look. And your face is not full of imperfections. I think the imperfection is that other people are telling you how to look. They're telling you what it beautiful, and you're just listening. But ultimately, it is your decision, as I previously said. In this world, this society is run by looks. So I guess if you appear more presentable to them, you'll probably get ahead.

5 Jul 11
Well, the thing is that you're changing for society's approval, which I don't think is okay. They're telling you how to look and what to act like. It's just sickening to me. You shouldn't think you're weird just because someone else is telling you that.
27 Jun 11
Personally I wouldn't get it done, I like the way that I look. But it's each to their own i think. Although I can understand people either with natural facial disfigurements that they want removed or if they have been in a accident or attack and have some kind of facial scaring or disfigurements.
• United States
5 Jul 11
Yeah, that's what everyone is basically saying. People should get plastic surgery if they have an accident and their face is disfigured. What I don't approve of is people getting plastic surgery because they personally think they're ugly. Of course they're not ugly!

There was a receptionist at one place where I worked that attracted me. She had a rather round, but very cute nose, in an otherwise beautiful face. I thought she was absolutely beautiful but since she was very much younger than me, I never tried to get closer. After being absent for a few days, she returned with a new nose, and greeted me as normal. Except I didn't recognize her at all and actually asked her name. She look so conventionally beautiful that she had lost all the attraction she had once had! It is possible to be too beautiful so that no one will look at you anymore!

5 Jul 11
Wow, that's a really interesting story. I'm sure she was more attractive when she had her natural nose than when she had her new one. And, of course, you agree with me on that also. The thing about nose jobs is that they usually don't look natural when they're done. They look like someone else's nose plastered onto someone else's body. It just doesn't look right to me. I agree that everyone is beautiful. They should never feel bad about themselves or their face.

I have a face that only a mother can love, but I'm very comfortable with it. I will not change it for anything. It is my identity. People respond/ed to me because of this face, and I respond/ed to them with this face. I would not know how others would respond to me if I were handsome or more ugly. I also would not know what objectives I would have set for my life, had I been handsome or more ugly, and whether I would be happy at all. I think my face has brought me to a level of achievement and sense of fulfillment that coincide with my attitude of mind and life targets. I am satisfied. When I was still living in Metro Manila, sometimes I would come across beauty parlors that offer free cleaning of face and whatnot as a promotional device. For obvious reasons, I seemed to be always a good target for these offers. When approached, I would always kid them that, "Yes, it's free, that's true, but you know, I don't want to spend time and money to reintroduce myself to my friends hahahah... So thank you, but I will not accept your offer.

Wow, that's very good of you to have self-confidence in yourself! You are so right, though, to do that. I think the face and body you are born with is the face and body you should stick to for the rest of your life. It's experienced all the things you have and seen all the things that you have seen. Sometimes, being an average-looking person, like myself, has its benefits. You don't know the pressure of being too handsome or pretty for someone! And that's true. People will probably not recognize you after you undergo the plastic surgery. You'd have to reintroduce yourself to everyone you know!

I don't like women who has undergone plastic surgery or any other face surgery. They are just conscious of their beauty so that the public would notice them.It is really sad and disappointing that many personalities are undergone that kind of surgery.I want women who has natural beauty without the help of any surgery.I have heard that when you try to undergo surgery once you would always conscious with your look and think that there is something that to be change so you will undergo another surgery. It was not good for women just to be beautiful surgery should use to treat certain diseases or problems.
• United States
5 Jul 11
That's true. The women who have plastic surgery usually have self-esteem issues. They don't feel confidence in themselves, and they probably won't gain full confidence even after the plastic surgery. They become so self-conscious with themselves and how they look. It could actually be called a disease, depending on who looks at it.

I don thtink on should have to alter their looks to make them beautiful. God made you the way you are for a reason. It is what is on the inside that counts and make the perso beautiful as a whole

That's the problem with our society. Of course inner beauty is the best kind of beauty, but it's definitely not valued as much as outer beauty. We're so fixated on outer beauty that we fail to realize how important inner beauty is. It's beneficial to us and to the world. And yet, men and women usually go for the guys or gals that are better looking.

I would never change my face or anything about my features. This is how I was made and this is how I will stay. It is crazy that people go through so many surgerys. I heard someone say on tv once that plastic surgery was like getting tattoos....addicting!

You should never change any part of you. Everyone is beautiful how they are made. I've totally heard that getting plastic surgery is addicting. I was watching this video on CNN about a place in Korea where people where getting plastic surgery so many times.
