What's going on?

That's both a question and a statement. I would like to know what's going on with all of my friends.. what's new in your lives.
I'd also like to share what's going on with me on this end.
First let's talk computer issues. A few weeks ago I got a nasty little virus I couldn't seem to get rid of. My anti-virus and anti-spyware programs could not find the little bugger. I downloaded about a dozen different anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.. they too could not find it.. some found it but could not delete it. I think eventually I found one that could deactivate it, but either it was never fully deleted, or it left a nasty mess in it's wake.
My computer just wasn't the same again. It was a million times slower, wasn't loading properly, wasn't saving any passwords as it usually did. If I logged into a site then closed the window, it would log me out even after I clicked to keep me logged in. It was frustrating.
My husband is a computer genius.. but he could not figure this problem out.
So, I had to cave and let him restore the computer, which I hate doing. I hate losing all my files and folders. I hate having to start over. I hate having to remember all my websites and passwords. It's a major pain.
Well.. turns out, the computer didn't want to be restored. The virus did a number on the hard drive, erased a lot of things the computer needed, like the factory restore files. So hubby had to restore it from a disc, unfortunately the computer wasn't willing to accept that either.
Basically, hubby has spent the last 3 days straight trying to restore this thing.. leaving me with nothing but the laptop to use in the meantime, and me and the laptop don't get along so great. So I would spend minimal time on it doing only the essential activities which included school work and Facebook games, LOL. All other sites and activities I do were put on hold.
The good news is the computer is now restored and working. The bad news is, hubby installed Windows Vista on my computer which used to have Windows XP. Not sure I'm happy with that.. but I've only been online for about an hour now so I think I need to play with it some more to truly get an idea of how I feel about it.
Anyways, aside from that we've been pretty busy regardless. I thought I had Saturday off work.. actually I had made plans for a get together with a friend of mine Saturday evening. The kids and I were going to go to her house where she has a pool and playset and fire pit. They were going to play, then make smores, while she and I drank some wine and chatted. It was going to be great. But then it ended up raining all day, so we had to postpone our plans.
So instead of doing that I got called in to work a 5 hour shift on Saturday.. more money is good.
Sunday we spent the entire day visiting hubby's aunt who lives about an hour away and we only get to see her like twice a year. She's an 80 year old lady, sweet as can be, but a bit scatter brained at times. I felt like the visit was very rushed. She had us help her get lunch going.. she bought hot dogs and hamburgers and things like that. The moment I arrived she set me to work chopping up canteloupe and she sent hubby to grill. Then we ate, and as soon as that was done she was gathering up things she wanted us to take home, like an entire garbage bag full of linens. Then we said our goodbyes and headed home. We were only there for about 3 hours.. which I guess is a pretty lengthy visit, but as I said, it just felt very rushed. Next time I think we'll try to plan a lunch that doesn't require any prep just so we can sit and actually visit for a bit.
Monday also seemed hectic. I began doing my school work in the morning.. but it was a very nice day so I felt the need to get the kids out. We don't have a yard here at all, and no place to play around the house.. so when I have to get them out, I physically need to pile them in the car and take them somewhere. So, we all went to the playground and met up with some friends of ours. We stayed there till 3pm, at which time I had to rush home to get ready to be to work at 4pm.
So right now I just feel a bit overwhelmed. I have a lot of school work I need to get done and have hardly started on. I also feel like I have a ton of other stuff I need to catch up on, including housework. It's not going to be easy with all the kids home and me feeling guilty about not letting them get outside everyday. Nights that I work are even more difficult because I have limited time. I am working at 4 every night this week!
So, that's what I've been up to. Busy and feeling the stress of being pressed for time.
This summer is going to be very interesting with all the work and schooling I have to do... ugh!
So what's going on in your lives right now?

Sounds like you have had a lot going on and still will during summer! I have not been up to much except we got a new pet recently! So myself and hubby are both happy about that!

I have not been too busy lately, yet it still feels like I do not have any time. As you know, I recently dropped down to one job instead of two. I went from working about 60-70 hours a week to around 40 hours a week. I have an extra 20-30 hours a week that I did not have before, but I still feel like I have no time and what time I do have I don't seem to have the energy to do anything. The kids are going a little crazy because they are not used to spending this much time together. I want to get them out of the house today since I am off, but I have to get some yard work done while it actually is not raining.

I only work about 20 hours a week and can't seem to find time for anything! I really don't know how you survived working 2 jobs for so long.. I know I couldn't do it. When the kids go back to school this fall I am thinking of finding a day job and probably quitting this one. I was debating keeping this one for awhile and just dropping down to 1 or 2 nights a week.. but I just don't see how I'll survive it.. I'm already dreading going into work. I hate closing shifts..

Lilybug - I am sorry that you are so tired. Are you anaemic? do you take vitamin supplements? You may be lacking in iron. do you still have your business? I hope that you feel better soon

I used to get them all the time in the summer. For me it's from extreme heat and sun. I can sit out in the sun no problem, but being indoors in the heat with the sun blaring in the windows.. can't do it.

i HAVE BEEN BUSY FOR AN OLD WOMAN BUT NOT AS BUSY AS U. My grandson has been playing in baseball tournaments & seems as if we have had a game most every night. They came in as runnerups in the district tournaments last night. We have about a week before the state tournaments start & i am looking forward to a break. It has been so hot at the games & that pretty well zaps me .Iyt's good the heat doesn't affect the kids like it does me.Take it easy & don't wear yourself out, it will catch up w/u, believe me.

Ypu are going to regret asking what is happening right now. Basically, I went to collect my outfit for the wedding and it just does not look good. Nothing what I had imagined. This is a first class dressmaker - a former wife of a prime Minister was waiting on me to fish my fitting. The length was wrong and other things that could not be fixed as it had been cut. I was in shock - especially as I had paid for it.
So the daughter and I went out and she drove to the most expensive boutique in the cite where clothes start at US$500 and begun to frantically push clothes at me to try. There was one possible and the price was US$850!!
I asked her if she had the money to pay for it and she looked shocked and said no. I said that I didn't have the money either so we wuld have to exit. This after they had brought, water, juice, coffee and tea to us.I told them that I was upset and needed lunch and would seriously consider the dress
.
So as we were reversing, I made the suggestion that perhaps the outfit that had been made wasn't so bad after all. The daughter put her face next to mine and said that I was not wearing that awful frock and then she reversed into their little red brick wall.
So we had lunch at a fast food place and remembered a shop two doors down that I used to buy clothes from. Went in there and bought a full length chiffony gown for a reasonable price. I saw it as dark blue but it wasn't as I discovered later. So I left it as it needed a few alterations but went home happy.
The daughter turned up with it last Saturday and Kat, it is not dark blue it is a dirty dark turquoise and I don't like it.
But as the bills are hitting fast and furious and the wedding is on July 16th I do not have a choice but to wear it.
I also need tyres for my car and have yet to pay the florist or my GF who is going to do the bouquets.
The big sister is coming and I will be sleeping in her bed at the hotel. I am in dire need of happy pills to get through all of this.
I am sorry for your problems but you did ask what was going on in our lives........ I don't know why I said that they could not elope without me........

Oh wow...
I remember you saying about this dressmaker who was going to make your dress. It's awful that it did not turn out well. Is there nothing you can do about that one? Have her alter it so that it fits and looks nicer? I'm surprised she didn't show you some designs of how it might look so you had an idea of what to expect.
I happen to like the color turquoise. But I'm sorry you don't like this dress either. Some things just shouldn't be rushed, like picking out a dress to an important event.
I wish I could help you or give you some advice or something.. but there's not much I can do aside from say that it will all be over soon.. and in a year from now you'll have nothing but fond memories of your daughter's wedding and how beautiful the ceremony was...

We chose the design and jacket. In fact I brought in a light jacket for her to copy but she did not do so. No the length is too short and she cut the material to cover the boobs in the dress too short too. I do love turquoise and this outfit was to have been a bright turquoise edged in a silver piping. She even messed up the piping. This colour is a darker turquoise and a bright turquoise would look better on me but it is okay, I guess. a hundred times better than the other design outfit. What a load of codswallop that turned out to be.
But I didn't want okay. I wanted WOW - especially as she-who-must-be-obeyed has spent over a thousand pounds on her outfit. Guess I may be a little jealous and I am not normally a jealous person
.
I know what I can do. I will get one of my children to take my phone and take a photo of me in it and then I will send it to you guys as I know that you will be honest with me.

Sounds like a great idea.. I can't wait to see it. I bet it's not as bad as you think!
Forget she-who-must-be-obeyed.. her opinion of you makes no difference what so ever.
Just so you know.. I don't care what you wear.. I think you're the most beautiful person I've ever known (aside from my kids).
Besides that.. you don't really want a beautiful dress. Wearing such a beautiful dress would attract too much attention to you. You're dressing down so that all eyes are on your beautiful daughter.. as they should be. Tell your guests.. including she-who-must-be-obeyed that you bought an ugly dress for your daughter's sake, so that her guests would not be staring at you through the whole ceremony!

Hopefully by now, you've left all of the stress of last week, and have had a great long weekend. I hope the fireworks helped a bit in lifting your spirits.
We've had a great long weekend too. We went for a drive to a town 4-hours away to get some sun, and some lake, and some small-town celebration. Now it's just getting back to work, and trying to settle in for the week after a long vacation.
And what do you know?! The first thing I do at work, is to myLot!

Well I did have a good weekend.. but today it starts all over again. I'm behind on school work, finances are tight, I'm seriously behind on housework, and I've been texted all day to see if I could pick up an extra shift tonight.. I had to say no to that. I need my rest too you know. Off to do some school work for a bit before taking the kids back to the pool.

I am working hard online to afford some home repairs, we have gotten the a/c repaired, good thing, too, and then today got a new hot water heater. My house was apartments for many years so we have two a/c units and two hot water heaters. Had to have the a/c and thermostat fixed for the sleeping part of the house. It is a very hot summer. I have a decent amount of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers happening in my garden. I have major cleaning of the spare room to do now that I can keep it cool enough to do it. My daughter is coming with the girls in about ten days. I am learning some new online stuff but not doing a great job at it.

I am having a rather boring couple of weeks because my three best friends have gone to Turkey on holiday. I did not go with them because I couldn't afford it at the time, although in hindsight I probably would have been able to because I came into a little bit of money shortly after they booked their holiday. So I am spending the time earning money by posting on MyLot, and I am also writing a lot of articles and blogs in order to earn a little more cash than I usually would. Then, when they return from their holiday, I will be able to take a bit of a backseat with my work and go out with them and have a really good time.

In our lives right now is hubby's chemotherapy. He goes on Wednesday for a PET scan to restage the lymphoma. I'm hoping that the cancer might be gone at this point, but until he has the scan I don't know. I'm actually worried about it, but from what I've read from other people there is really nothing that I should be worried about at this point in time.
This weekend we are going to go to Cincinnati for a Reds game tomorrow (my brother gave me his tickets since his wife is in the hospital in antipartum to make sure that she doesn't have her baby too early). Sunday a friend of mine from high school is going to be in town and she is having a get together with some of the people that we went to school with so I'm looking forward to that. On Monday we will probably be doing the normal holiday stuff.
