Does It Make You Mad When Others Comment On Your Post and...

it is obvious that they are not even commenting on what you wrote, but it is more of a promotional gimmick. The other day I posted about a new survey site that I found called Opinion Place. Not one of the comments was about Opinion Place. I too like pinecone but pinecone was not the topic this time Opinion Place was. Part of this site is to read what others wrote in the original post and respond to it.

I get annoyed when someone would respond but not even related with my topic. There was an instance just the other day, when a user simply responded by just putting his link on some sites. I noticed that he did it to at least 4 boxes of the responders. What an irresponsible way of responding. he could have just started a discussion, promoting it, which will obviously be deleted anyway.

I never know which ones to report because if I report abuse on my posts- will they remove the irrelevant responses or delete my post entirely. Obviously I don't want my posts deleted.

I think it wasn't me discussing, but just one of the respondents. However, i noticed it with 3 more boxes. I guess, the one who is discussing had the user reported.

I think you could report the posts that are off-topic. They violate the Mylot guidelines and they might end up deleted because of that. But if you don't do anything, their authors will keep doing this. I heard that reporting is anonymous, so you shouldn't worry that they will do anything against you.

If they were indeed promoting themselves, they should be reported. I do not remember if I had responded to it, probably not. I tend not to do survey sites, I do not qualify usually. If I had responded there that is what I would have said.

GardenGerty you are one of the friends I trust on here and consider as a good friend. I know that you would not self-promote. :)

Yep, it could get to that when you're posting here. Sometimes when I start a discussion there will someone who'll post something irrelevant. You'll notice it immediately but sometimes I don't report it because I just don't have time for it.

Exactly. Because you also have to take note of what activities doesn't earn you money.

I try to balance everything because I am trying to make money from home. My cash assistance will be stopped soon and I am nowhere near being able to go back to work anywhere. I do a bit of this and that to try and make money.

This is a marketing world and no one want to leave chance of marketing. I feel that this is okay if they do this. They have their own reason for it. If somebody knew about the site you were talking then surely they would have given you the knowledge but I don't think so. I heard the name for the first time and I am sure many have heard it here for the first time. Have a nice day ahead.

I have been with pinecone for years and love them, but by now most people know of pinecone. I had never heard of opinion place so I am figuring that it would be good to let others know of it.

if it is a positive and constructive feedback, certainly not a problem. but if the responses is distorted, and the offending tribe, race religion, color, surely this will make other people feel offended and uncomfortable, so, no matter if the response is positive and constructive..

Yes I do not like it when others try to make a post about race or religion. Awhile back I had someone who said I was racist because I said that I do not believe the same things that the U.S. President believes. I told them that if I was racist, I would have to hate myself because I have three tribes Native American in me, German and Irish.

There are just this people who just don't know the proper things to say. We can't avoid that. Some just comment for just sake of posting a comment. It can really be annoying.

Yes they need to comment on what was said. Some look at it as a way to earn points for cash.

Yes,sometimes it is so annoying that someone wrote something that is not related to the topic and posted something that is confusing. I appreciate if the responder come back and saying it's a wrong post, then i wouldn't mind. But if it intentionally written just to confuse or to make something funny about my topic, then it would really send me off. Not to mention those who just post referral link (not so obvious) but saying he/she sent me a PM and that i need to checked it. Then when I checked it's just a referral link have a good day

I usually delete friends that sent me a referral link unless it is someone I consider a good friend on here that always responds to my posts and I know is wanting to help me out.

Well, i had some experienced that before but it dosent matter if anyone of the reply comment based on my subject thats enough for me, then again people should really focus on whats in the topic and comment accordingly not on their own basis. there are people sometimes who doesn't understand what is being said so they improvise it to their understanding, so we feels like they comment on something entirely different.

If someone asked for suggestions on other survey sites then it is fine to respond with a different site, but if not and they do not know about that site, they simply should not respond.

Yes I did notice that the other day, sorry I did not respond to the discussion as I did not have any knowledge of the site. After reading the responses I could not learn anything from the discussion as some of the responses were irrelevant. It would certainly annoy me as you spent time creating a discussion and not only hoping to learn and or pick up some knowledge the responders wasted efforts. This also goes for anyone who searches abut the site in your discussion and end up reading irrelevant responses. Main reason I do try not to enter discussion I do not have useful and helpful information with. As it is not right and also not allowed here.

Hi linda, It gets to us when people just advance their own agenda and disregarding what is talked about. You are right to claim that the discussion should not digress from the topic at hand. If they want to, they should start their own discussions about their own preferred subjects.

That is why they allow us to post our own topics. That way we can talk about the site that we want to talk about. To comment on someone's post with another site is like asking someone if they want grape or strawberry jelly on their sandwich and they respond by saying chili sauce.

I have had it happen and it drives me crazy too. They shouldn't respond at all if it has nothing to do with your topic they should start one of their own. I feel for you.

It is sad when others don't take you seriously. If the comment was intended to be hurtful, you can report them to the administration here at mylot.

yeah, true, but this is the internet. few people obey rules in life, so why would they obey them online? You maybe expect too much from people.

If there are rules, they should be followed. Most people don't know that there is actually an internet police force that enforces against things like cyber stalking. My family found out about them a couple years ago when my brother was having problems with an ex.

I have never received any response that does not fit with my discussion. If I receive a response, which does not correspond to my discussion, I certainly would be very disappointed. I will say it mildly, and did not touch on.
