Your choice from train, bus, ferry or plane

If you had a free trip you could choose to travel from one city to another by a particular sort of transport which would it be: by train, by bus, by ferry or by plane? Why? If it is available I always choose to travel by train and I love it when I have a train pass. I used to get a weekend wonder ticket and travel extensively in Germany on the slower trains. When I was 18 years old I had an Inter Rail Pass. In Australia I bought individual trains like Cairns to Brisbane and Adelaide to Melbourne. If it is a long haul journey I put up with going by plane. I only take a ferry or a bus if a train is not available.

If it were free, I would definitely take the train. I have never taken one before and would like to experience it. I think that I would enjoy it much more than a plane because I would be able to look at the scenery around me, which is one of my favourite parts of travelling. If possible, I would travel all the way across Canada by train, since I have heard that the journey is beautiful. Plus, I have heard that trains are more comfortable than other forms of transportation by far.

I would also pick train. I don't really like buses or planes (even though I've never been on the latter) because you don't really get much personal space. I'd want to be on one of the trains with a sleeper car. And even if I'm not on one of those, it still seems like you would have more personal space because people don't necessarily have to sit next to you. I'm not sure what it's like on a ferry so I don't know how I'd feel being on one. But just because I'm not very comfortable around large bodies of water, I'd probably not choose a ferry.

Hi there Maximax 8! If given a choice, I will choose to travel by plane since it takes less time to arrive to my destination and more often than not, when I want to go somewhere, it means that I have something important to do there or I am going on a vacation. If that's the case, it will be better if I can arrive where I am going sooner.

Always the plane option! I absolutely love flying - the feeling of being in a plane, take off, landing, everything! So yes, I would always choose to travel by plane!

Love to travel by train, too. on the way itself is a scenery....but have to have enough time. I took the longest-time train trip was 48 hours, from Kunming, southwest of China, to Beijing, then from Beijing to Harbin, far north of China, more than once. Along the way, I had to put on more clothes, and when I was back, I had to take off extra clothes, when I arrived at Kunming, just ware a T-shirt.... and the view out of the window was so different, snow, endless barren plains, rolling mountains, rivers, the third longgest river in the world, and lots unnamed flowers and trees...in a word, on the road is a plasure, don't hurry to get anywhere.....enjoy your trip...

As for me, I want to travel by plane. Traveling by plane is not that stressful and you'll arrive at your destination in just a short time. I hate travelling in a bus and ferry, I get dizzy right away and throw up so it will end up to be so stressful on my part.

I still want to travel by plane because I won't spend longer time on the way. Since usually I don't have so long time off work. So I can't waste my time on the way. Besides, the plane will be the fastest and comfortable compares to other transportation. I love China

Dear friend, A tourist travel, I would prefer bus or ferry, that too if the bus is good one and in ferry if I feel I could have a comfortable sitting. I would enjoy to view the scenes outside and other natural beauties. But in other cases I would also prefer train if the journey is bit long and there is also toilet in trains which is not in bus. In train I feel much comfortable if I get a berth to have comfortable sitting. I would opt ferry if the there is something really nice to enjoy the view. The mode travel may depends upon the route I prefer.

hi maximax8, my choice is the train. i would be able to see the countryside and no traffic. haha..however, just like you if the journey is a long one, i would take the plane. ferry is my last choice as i don't like to be surrounded by water because for the main reason that i never learned how to swim. have a more lovely moments..bless you always! faith210

Depends on how far it is, as long as it's not too far, I'd chose train. For travelling around in for example Britain or middle Europe, train is perfect, 'cause things aren't too far apart. For getting away from Norway, it takes a while. There's been a lot of talk about building new tracks so the trains can go faster here, but the problem is that there's so much things you have to go around. (mountains, lakes, rivers, fjords) I like ferries (if the weather is good) but I don't go with bus if I don't have to. I get travel sickness very easily, and a bus-ride is a sure way to throw up :-)

I think I would very much prefer to take a plane. A bus ride makes me sick most of the time and I think a place would save me more time.

Hello maximax8, If i had a free trip i would choose ferry because on very few occasions i have traveled through it. Train takes lot of time to start when stop at one station in INDIA.Planes will be too quick to enjoy the journey.

I think it depends on the distance and latency. When latency is less than about 6 hours, I would prefer the train. Because it can see the beautiful scenery. But when the train and bus trips take longer than 6-7 hours, then I better get on a plane.

I'd like to take a ferry or a plane because it's not everyday that I can ride it unlike a train or a bus.

My first choice would be train. Maybe it would depend on the length of the journey, but I like trains. If not a train then definitely a plane. A bus would be my very last resort. I'd go on a ferry before a bus. I do not like going traveling on a bus.

Trains in the U.S. leave a LOT to be desired. I would rather fly, if they want to feel me up, well, that's THEIR problem isn't it? At least if I want to get from here to there quickly. HONESTLY, I would rather drive. Tho taking a train will take you places cars won't, in the U.S., cars will take you WHERE you want to go easier than a train. Yes, there is at least one place in New Mexico you can only get to by train... or walk/ride a horse in, but that's an exception... Juno Alaska you can't drive into either...

If I had a free trip, I will choose a combination of train and ferry: to enjoy the sights at a leisurely pace, to be around people, to observe and learn from them.
