Stories that take you away

I love stories that get me so involved that I escape into them. Barbara Delinsky,s books do this for me. In fact I never start one unless I know I will be able to spend the time necessary to read it. I just can 't put them down. Right now I am reading Looking for Peyton Place, what fun it is with all the twists and turns, and yet still close enough to the real world to hold one's interest. She wrote this in 2005 so the technical data is still valid though somewhat dated. If You can pick this up I know you will enjoy.

I also love reading!!! I hope I can find someone to lend that book. I like stories that has many twist. I usually read books by john grisham, sidney sheldon, danielle steele and jane austen. I seldom buy especially now that I live far from city. I exchange what book I have to a library of a Highschool here. I also ask around who have books so that I can borrow. :)

I wouldn't call it romance and it isn't a hard core thriller or mystery. I'd say it's more about relationships.

I finished Madam Bovary last week and am just about finished with Dr. Zhivago now. I've got one on tap to start when I finish this one. Got a John Irving and a Ayn Rand to choose from yet. Lately, I've kind of been into the classics. My myLot has taken some of my reading time over the past few months so last week I had to wean myself away a bit to get caught up on my reading. I get a few magazines that I have to read or it would be wasteful to spend the money on the subscriptions.

I loved Ayn Rand and think she is right on the money still today after so many years. The first two you mentioned are pretty heavy for me. I do like a book I can finish in a day or two. Good reading to you.

For me yes it is hard to deal with if you don't know it but if you familiar and have good to that story it is good.

I'm a very avid reader, and I have a lot of books. My idea of a perfect afternoon would be me sitting in a chair in a sun-dappled room, sipping tea, with a really thick book to keep me company. I read anything and everything. I started with old Reader's Digests when I was 10 and never looked back. I indiscriminately read fiction and non-fiction, and never regretted any of the books I purchased. Wait, except perhaps for Twilight and I am Number Four. Those two books I would gladly use to start a bonfire. All these being said, the stories that really blew me away are mostly the short kind. And in particular, Isaac Asimov's brilliant short story, The Last Question. That one was fantastic. It gave me goosebumps when I got to the end, the good kind. I also liked the way Glen Duncan writes. He's very funny, even though his stories branch every which way. What can I say, I just love to read. And sometimes, it isn't just stories that have the power to take you away. It's the skill of the writer, that does that. It doesn't really matter what they have written about, the subject or the plot. But it's about the way they weave their words together that creates magic.

Is this book supposed to be related to Peyton Place? It sounds pretty good. Although, I spend lots of time on the internet making money. But I do like to read books from time to time. I wonder if it is on the iBook store from Apple. Or I will look into downloading it somewhere else. If I get it, I will read it and talk about it here.

It's about a small town, it's somewhat of a girly book, but if fyou enjoy relationships and how small towns works, it might be for you. If you can read an excert first before you buy that might be wise. I'd love to discuss it with anyone.

Hi, savy. The first book that had me glued all day was Paradise by Judith Mcnaught. I was so glued to the story that I was able to finish it all day reading. Taking a break sometimes when I need to eat or go to the restroom. It's a love story and somehow, it's very realistic. I'll try to find the book that you are recommending during my time off. Thanks for sharing it to us.

I have not ever read any of her books but I appreciate your statement about having time for a good read because it is frustrating having to put it down and get back to it later! I’ve always said that finishing a great book can feel like as sad as saying goodbye to a good friend. I am going to have a look for some of Barbara Delinsky’s work.

hi pat, our habits when reading is the same. always i finish things before i start a book because i just cant put it down when things start to get going in the story. sometimes i get to read a pocketbook with about 300 or more pages and do it overnight without letting it go. sometimes i look at the window and the sunlight is already starting to pierce the jalousies. that's the time i sleep because i have finished the book and i am happy with the ending. reason why i always try to read a book during weekends. because there is no office work. have a great day. ann

i like to watch on television .I rather prefer or have interest to reading stories. On television we have many channels and they are many for kids and we get nice stories which can finish by half an hour, they are very much composed and made graphically so good , as it shows its better than reading .

Im the same as you. I can bury myself in a book and not come out for hours. Unfortunately, I dont have that much time to read lately. I have lots of books given to me by my sister and family. I read a few pages before I go to sleep, thats about the only time I can read. Right now, Im reading the last book from the "Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind. Its the last of a 12 books series. I have been reading those, one at a time as the writer had us waiting years sometimes between each book. I will miss reading this story that went on for years. Its like the people in the book are somewhat part of family haha!! I'll look into Barbara Delinsky.....maybe I have some books from her here in my collection. Thanks for sharing that information!! This is the link to the writer Im reading now. http://www.terrygoodkind.com/books.shtml

I'm the same way when it comes to reading! I love it when I am swept away to where ever it is the main character is! It takes you away from reality for a while and you become who they are. I always get so indulged in books that I usually end up finishing them quite quickly! I'm happy that you were able to find an author who does that for you! I really wish I had more time to read now, but having a 2 year old really takes away any free time that I could take to read. Hopefully one day I'll be able to again! =)

We do share a common hobby. I like to read books especially novels. I am about to finish this book, entitled, "Please, love me". I just forgot the name of the author. All that I remembered is his first name which was Keith. Anyway, the story was about this woman who longed to be loved by his father and everyone around her, actually. I really find the story interesting and worth reading. The emotions described in the story really touched me and I hope I could finish reading it by tonight. I thank my dear friend who let me borrow that book. I loved and enjoyed it. Can't wait to start reading another book. Go, book lovers! :D
