SO i just watched the movie Gullivers travels strring Jack Black i believe it was released 2011 or late 2010 and was dissapointed in the movie so much i switched it off and went to sleep before the end. I usually like jack Black but i found this movie very poor and there is nothing to keep you intersted. Like a bad midday movie when there is nothing else to flick the channel too. I see know why this movie went to DVD so quickly i can't imagine that it made much money. The acting is poor the portrayal of the story line is poor and it's just an all together flop i would not recommend wasting your money on hiring this movie the story line is very corney and i know it is based on the book gullivers travels but maybe the way they wrote the lines or adapted the story didn't work at all. Jack black sets out for the bermuda triangle and is sucked into a vortex type thing and awakes on the beach as a giant. He befriends the kindom and makes up alot of stories about his land that are untrue... It your a big fan of Jack Blacks you might like it but i found it very annoying and to drag on. I was waiting for the movie to get interesting but it had nothing to captivate the audience. I don't even think the jokes were that funny. Disappointed i awaited it so dearly, to much hype.

I am sad that a book of such calliber in its day would have a movie made of it that was so bad. I don't think much of Black's acting anyway. His type of humor doesn't impress me or make me laugh. I get so tired of so many of the film that are coming out now are so insulting to men and women. I would have for these to be seen by another world that wants to see what ours is like. Ugh!

Yes they made a mockery of any kind of storyline... just the bad acting and comedy misses. I wonder how much money they wasted making such a low budgetlooking movie! Did they spend all the money on blowing Jack Black up into a giant?? I just can't understand how they thought this movie would even do any good. Whoever wrote it should just quit.

I must say don't really get into the spin off's at all. I would much rather watch a movie that is based around it's own idea unless it is a real portrayal of the book as it was intended not just a comedy spoof of the inital idea... It's not really showing the first authours and directors who could do this the credit that they deserve.

I am sad because these movies and the people that go to them are stupid. It is insulting to even be flashed the trailers for these kinds of movies.

I'm glad you watched this movie before I could rent it!!! I do indeed like Jack Black...even he can't carry a bad movie!!! Gulliver's Travels was a decent story when it was written by Jonathan Swift back in the 1700's. Unfortunately every generation tries to do their own movie version of the book & most fail miserably!!! I've only seen one decent version of the book & it was filmed before 1950 & wasn't that good...it just didn't suck!!! Ted Danson did a version & it sucked raw eggs!!! I think the Gulliver story is one that should be left to the individual's imagination!!!

They havn't done a good portrayal of the book at all. It's vry basic slapstick humour that isn't even funny. And i like slapstick humour! Yes the storyline the comedy and just hairy Jack Black running around on camera like an idiot... lol hardly entertaining. I'm happy to have saved you the money, because it's not worth it! When you see it on TV oneday you will understand!
