Human Evolution Will Kill Us

I have this theory that we will carry on evolving to a point where we will threaten our very species. Our need to anticipate worked well for us until it led us to be creative. Now that we are more creative we are going to be blind to anticipate that it will destroy us. We are going to keep creating and creating and with all the material used to create we shall destroy our very planet. We are now at a point where we think we can play god, where will it be in 2000 years time? See my point? It's going to be a very dangerous world. Look at some of the outcomes of our creativity - H bomb.

Thats bull, cause evolution don't exist LOL. People die all the time.Just look at hiroshima....I take that back.

well evolution is a theory that some people believ and some dont just because maybe YOU dont believe in it that dosnt mean it dosnt exist

I kinda get your point, but that's not evolution, evolution by definition technically aids the survival of our species...

It is already happening now. It could only take 1 nuclear warfare and we are goners.

I think technology is allowing us to devolve to an extent, there's a theory on this but I can't think of the name right now. It's fairly recent and relatively unheard of, but worth looking into. As far as biological evolution I highly doubt we are evolving or devolving fast enough to matter. In terms of technology I would agree but not in the conventional way. Technology has actually dramatically increased our population, we rarely lose massive amounts of population from famine, hunger, or disease, the life expectancy has greatly increased along with the infant and birthing survival rates. So, we're not only living longer, but reproducing at a much higher rate, along with many other things that increase the population. I do believe it will come to bite us in rear. Not likely through the means of warfare, damage to planet, nor man made or natural disasters we commonly think of. Rather in a more sci-fi manner like a zombie apocalypse. Well, minus the coolness of flesh eating zombies. I think with the increased population density, generally degraded physical health, high mobility, and increased old and young populations. We are primed for a disease outbreak to decimate us. It's already a threat, every year we have flu's or similar disease that tend to prove fatal for many elderly and very young, staph and other anti-biotic resistant infections (due to over prescribing medicine). Disease evolves far more quickly than humans, and it's only a matter of time until something deadly and highly contagious spreads across the world at rate never before seen.

Hello nordqvist11, I also fear sometimes as being creative is taking us to the direction of destruction also its not necessary that every time we get benefited by science. Latest example is the recent Nuclear power plant failures in JAPAN due to Tsunami over there. I believe in Darwin theory of evolution but it will take ages for us for that it may happen that we get finished before that the way we are going surely we will destroy our planet and deprive next generation to live on this beautiful earth.

By the time we already evolved so much, we won't living on Earth Then the races we know is not depend by the color of the skin but by the planet which we live

I don't believe you understand evolution all the best urban

Hello! I like your theory, but I cannot tell if that is what it is going to happen. Humans are in this planet in a huge quantity, growing even more, and they evolve really fast. How many generations you think would be necessary to avoid problems like exposition to the sun, or to adapt to a semi-aquatic life style? And now, we can reproduce earlier and earlier. Some 10 years old will already be pregnant. Which means 10 years is what it takes for a new generation to appear! Yes, we are a plague. But when we start to feel DIRECT effects on us, I'm sure we will be able to use our creativity to revert the situation or find a way out of here. Unfortunately, most would have to die so a few could find the solution. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Perhaps you should focus on the good rather than the bad. Since the beginning of time, hasn't the world kept getting better and better??? So you think people think they can play God. They don't know God do they?? I think with knowledge comes vision. The more we see; the more we can see. Also. with greater knowledge comes greater responsibility. Why have you know faith in people??? Mankind will survive it all. In time, nuclear technology will supply clean limitless energy. Please allow mankind to muddle through a few growing pains. Just like the computer expanded greatly mankind's capabilities to do so many things so will limitless energy. Knowledge opens doors to new discoveries. Change scares so many people, however change can also be a good thing. Example. The changes in our medical knowledge has everyone living longer. In addition, they are at the threshold of extending life much much longer. Could this have ever been done without other inventions like the computer?? I think not. As will all things growing, the faster we grow; the faster we are going to grow. It can be scary for some. Relax and enjoy the ride.

I am also afraid of the way humans play God. Altering physical features and reproducing through clinical means are contrary to how God wanted us to be.

i also believe in this to think this same thing with evolution and that the world will end if people keep with there greedy outcomes then we WILL destroy our world but what after does anything come is there life anywhere else? these are all things i want to know but we may never find out...

I disagree with this. Our creativity isn't going to kill us, but it will make us lazy. Technologies only purpose now is to make our lives easier with more entertainment. H bomb? It's already been done. It isn't as if it could wipe out the whole entire off unless some idiot drops it. It's designed to do specific area and the size of it is calculated in. I don't want to bore you with the physics of it. What is going to kill us is greed. Think about it.

i don't believe that our creativity in science will kill us. Is not our creativity/invention that kill us, it's how we apply the result of our creativity. in your H-bomb example... we could avoid that by not using it, but people who have the power to apply science choose to do it(politician). Scientist invent stuff... politician use them... who do you think have the decision that earth need more buildings? So in my opinion.. we should keep inventing but we doesn't always have to apply them...
