Recently from a Philippine news, facebook became the new ways of making crime. Many reported being stab, robbed, raped and even killed and one thing coincide with every explanation about the issue, was meeting or chatting new people in facebook. The modus starts when they met new people on the social networking and starts to chat and meet personally having the trust of this persons as a friend or having a form of mutual relation. The crime happens when they let the person sleep over the house of their victim. Most of the suspects are indeed good looking that intimidates the victims. All of the victims were gays and females. From the issue stated, its not the fault of facebook from the crimes being stated because at the end of the day the person still holds the key which is trust. They should not let strangers get easily in. Facebook are just way to connect and to meet new friends as what the meaning of social networking and they cannot tell the intention or personality of person.

Sounds like some people are to trusting and gullible. It is ashame people can like that on Facebook! it just shows bad people will go on any site and end up doing nasty things to people they meet on those sites! We all need to be more aware of these things and be more careful! Sometimes I wonder if we will ever learn!

The internet as a whole is susceptible to these types of acts. As online users we do have to be a bit more savvy and careful not to fall for the tricks of these types of activities. It is our responsibility to be careful and not allow ourselves to be vulnerable to such activity. Though the internet makes it easier to communicate and engage with just about anyone all over the world, we must do if not more what we do offline. That is to protect ourselves from evil acts. We do not post our personal information at our front door for the world to see, therefore, we should be careful as to what we post online.

Facebook has nothing to do with this crime. Crime happens with or without facebook or other social sites. Thu some issues and crimes coincided with facebook users...we cannot totally blame the site for this issues. I've met my good friend from social site, though it's not thru facebook, but we have good relationship for 4 years now. So,we should/must know the real person,or least use our brains who to trust or not.

It's not Facebook's fault but rather those bad people using it. Now the lesson for us is we need to be extra careful. If we don't know someone adding us on Facebook, it will always be better not to accept them and absolutely not meet them specially if we are to meet them alone. Bad guys are everywhere so beware!

This only reveals how FB can be misused. Innocence is a virtue but ignorance is a sin. Unfortunately there are more ignorant people on this planet than innocent people and it is no wonder they end up as victims. Learning new things in life is good but use the learning well and be aware of the possible negative consequences. FB is a convenience just like a cell phone is. If you are going to talk on a cell phone while crossing a road or a railway track or while driving you are inviting trouble, but then most people are obsessed and refuse to take precautions. And there are plenty of victims who can tell you what the consequences can be. But the like they say 'history repeats itself'.

yup true facebook cannot be blame, just being careful is enough to avoid those tragedies. I don't really get those people using a site for making friends for them to kill or rob. well its especially females or gays that take facebook so seriously so most of the victims are them. well just be careful everyone

How sad that horrible things are happening like this. Facebook is a great thing but of course there are the sickos out there who will try to use it for their sadistic pleasure. I used to write where I was going and what I was doing that day but then I decided to just write about what I did when I got home instead. I pretty much know everyone personally that is on my friends list but you never know who you know that might not be totally safe so I just am more careful now... not neccessarily for my sake but to protect my children.

I received a warning from a police department that there is a certain man who is targeting woman on facebook and we should not accept any friend requests from him. Here is a page on one of the facebook killers- http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=63720968311. Some people do use facebook for the wrong purposes.

The same is also felt on the world of work. Facebook provides a negative impact with fun berfacebook employees during working hours. Decreased employee productivity advance precisely the institutions that provide free internet access. Therefore do not be surprised if at some time ago many of which provide a policy to block fb chat or other facilities during working hours...

Hello! These times, where bad people are everywhere and crime is rampant, it is not wise to easily give your trust to anybody you just met. Especially through networking sites. They might look harmless to you but you don't know the truth about that person yet. He/she may be good looking but you have no idea what he/she is capable of. You don't know his/her background yet. So, just a piece of advise to everyone, don't just trust anybody that easily. More so, don't go out alone with someone you just met. Just for security purposes. I hope those persons who has bad intentions will realize how bad they are and repent what they have done and change to become a good citizen. :)
