self tanners

My sister and I are going to the beach in August and were planning to use some self tanners before we went, just to give a little color. What brand would you recommend trying? I know we need to exfoliate first to get the best results. We were planning to use a light to medium tanner. Would you suggest a lotion type tanner or a foam tanner?

Whatever you do, try it out before it's time to go to the beach. I did a self tanner once, and I thought I did exactly how the instructions said. But it didn't turn out right. It took seeing me do it wrong, to be able to do it right the next time.

I like the lotion type you use right out of the shower. Be sure to use gloves or wash good after. I use towelettes. You can get them from HSN. And I have used the Pond's tanner. I use a loofa in the shower and then towel off and put the tanner lotion on. It is light and takes several times to really see a change but that makes it look more natural. Keeping your skin well lotioned will make for a very nice looking tan.
