Why would you want a CHAT in Mylot???

Hello Lotters,
I've always been reading this almost often when ever I visited this mylot interest. so many new comers that kept proposing this add on to mylot. I guess the reason behind it was there's a lot of chat features in other social network sites, and most popularly known facebook has one, now they even have this video chat thing. but why? 
Chat is another level of conversation besides posting. usually short and usual SHORT way of talking but i don't see and wouldn't want to see that happening in mylot. besides, what's the point of posting if Chat is going to be added anyways? there's a lot more conversations involved when you are posting. unless you want to send a short chat regarding you're what ever "referral link" oh, that's a no no there.
I have friends who have added a chat APP in their profile, why don't they do the same thing, you can even check the site where they got the chat APP, you usally put it in the HTML. that's even better instead having mylot itself to put a chat add on when this community is mostly focus on posting..
Remember the importance of it when we are here at mylot.

May be that's why mylot has a uniqueness among others in terms of social networking. Here we can consider discussion are chatting with meaningful thing and with specific topic concern. As other said I agreed if chatting allowed here the quality and main purpose of mylot discussion will be distructed... may reduced the quality... better to keep what mylot have now.

That's why the chat is not good in this site because there is something better than just a mere chat but also with a long term conversations between different people. I believe it does test the patience of the user being on this site in terms of talking through post here. those who can't prefers to have a cheap Chat instead. well, have a nice posting day.

Oh man. Well let's see.. This would be a great idea except for the people who are bound to abusing it, such as those annoying spammers and trolls who yo u reluctantly add as a friend and then they turn around and SPAM the LIFE out of your inbox. I can see it happening and being ten times worse on chat. But it would be nice for the people here who have "friends" that just want to see how eaxc other is. But then again I guess you could always write on their profile or send them a message.

and more spam that will come to every person's profile sending referral links. I don't mind though if you are in my friends list. but what about those people who are new and recently add you? I can't help thinking that there are people that are going to abuse the chat feature. comments are possible but lamb says comments aren't working. have a nice day.

I think alot of people want chat so they can spam people easier to join this or that site they are joined with so they can get referrals without posting it in a discussion to be deleted. I do not see any other reason to have chat here. That is what discussions and private messages are for.

That's one thing that got off into my head because what's the point of chat when we can talk it ALL in discussions, responses and most specially comments. Same here I don't see any reason for chatting here unless some one puts a html of chat sortie in the profile, there's no way mylot would have that kind of feature. have a nice day.

No, like most here, I wouldn't use any chat feature, I don't have time and don't see the point really..Now what I would love to see is the ability to upload pictures into PM's, that way I can't privately ask friend's for help on my math. I can't copy and paste my work, so I take screenshots or I can scan a particular problem I have and my friend can see what I need..The two biggest problems in trying to share are fractions and exponents..Even though I use the ^ for exponents, I don't like it..
So, I'd say no to chat, but please, let's upload into PM....

I agree, there's no point of doing the chat if you're in mylot. besides, some of us are active in facebook and yahoo messenger that we kept talking to each other lately. besides, I prefer to talk to people here in mylot through old fashioned post. there's nothing else left that I can do but not to agree with it. I am glad that majority of us doesn't like chat. have a nice day.

That's why i keep on telling them that i don't want a chat app here in mylot. If i want to chat with somebody from here i could just ask for his IM and then we can have our conversations there. Other than posting discussions here, i don't see any point too why we need a chat application here in mylot. This is not similar to other networking sites. This is mylot and i just love it the way it is!

Actually people can use the Private message and not to mention that you can also use it for asking for information of any kind. you can even have a comment conversaton in a discussion like what other veterans are doing, you know the barging in conversations. Hi!
If they'll pay us to chat, maybe yes. But if not, no. Not that I'm only here for the money. I think the pros of having chat here is we can get to know more about our fellow mylotters and we can make conversations on real time. But we cannot definitely say that some bad guys may also use that tool.
I don't chat at Facebook so I am not sure I would appreciate such here in mylot.

Well, it's possible to pay for chat but like what others have said here, the essence of mylot posting will be gone if we don't do something about posting a discussion, responding to one and commenting on another. hi letran so many get lazy here and if we had that blasted chat room they want so much they are not going to bother writing discussions at all and it will lead ultimately to just eliminating what most of us really

We can't blame them if they can't make a good discussion. though they can respond but some people are impatient. some have work and some have other duties. I don't want to jabber in mylot when i am getting paid for quality post that's something i dont' want to do here. anyways, yeah, they can be too much, have a nice day.

This is my second time seeing a discussion like this here.Mylot does not need a chat,if a chat is here i don't no one is going to earn here any more it would be a distraction for the hardworking people here in mylot.
If their was a chat here,i for one would not use it.
Mylot is different from social network,and simply don't need a chat their is a message system in place already .
I know a lot of members would not want a chat here,are what i would say a big distraction.

Hello jazel, i dont think the admin will put that here. even in mypage5 there's a chat room but no one seems to be going there as i have tried to hang out there but couldn't talk to other people on that community except in the comments or blogs. have a nice day.

Caution: I can be very close-minded, and least receptive to change...
...so I am actually one of those who will not support the idea.
For me, chat is stepping to another level of "relationship" and can get really uncomfortable especially with co-lotters whom we want to keep an amount of animosity and a little bit of mystery to.
If I am chatting with you on Facebook, that means I have gained certain trust and confidence in you so give to FB what belongs to FB and give to myLot what belongs to myLot.
I have to admit that I am working on 2 different wavelengths when i'm on the Lot and when I'm on FB.
Anyway, chst can be distracting as well, so that's a NO vote from me.

Yes, I can understand that my friend. I agree that chat is another level of conversation, but cheap if the person is some one you don't know unless they like to give a lot of spam and load of referral links into your chat area. well, mylot is not really of chatting so i don't approve it for some reason. I am not much on the FB except when some people talk to me there. have a nice day.

I want to concentrate and focus mylotting when i am in mylot.
Or,when i am in facebook...then i will also give time chatting with friends.
But to have "chat" in mylot...i don't like it.
It's hard to avoid friends who wants to chat once they saw you online...heheh

Hi Letran Knight: It seems that you don't like chatting. I actually don't think a chat on Mylot is needed but I think that for some people it would be an interesting way to keep in contact at real time with their friends on the site so why not? I am sure some persons, I am not included I have to say, would enjoy this feauture.

When I respond to discussions, I do usually like being distracted or rushed.
I think it would be chaotic for Admins, as they would have to carefully monitor it as I am sure many would flame one another due to misunderstanding. They have a hard job now keeping the site fit and clean.
