and started working on marking the appropriate 'best responses'. really surprised how long those those discussions have remained 'unresolved. lol! some were as old as two years!!! hahahaha! talk about digging things in the past. i figured these discussions stayed in 'unresolved' because i was too busy to mark a 'best response' or i was still waiting for additional responses that might be the eventual 'best response' in the thread.
so my questions to my fellow mylotters, do you have a number of unresolved discussions? if so, how long have these been unresolved? any particular reason why these discussions remained unresolved and no 'best responses' were marked yet? do you see yourself, marking 'best responses' for these discussions to get these discussions out of the unresolved tab? why or why not?

I do not have that many. What I have are those who have zero responses, and I am sure not going to answer my own question. .and give myself a best response. I am not that conceited.

As long as i can remember, i haven't received any response after a long time posting a discussion. I don't start many discussions. Yes, there are plenty of discussions which i have responded and they are to be marked as best one. May be because peoples are not aware of it or they are still waiting for responses. I think one should mark as best response when he receives best answer to his question (according to him) or gets satisfactory answer. I don't have any unresolved discussion. I've received minimum one response.

hi yogesh2708!
i don't start that many discussions as well. i'll like to though as responding to threads can be a bit tiring and repetitive. anyway, i have alist of topics that i want to start a thread and hopefully i can do so within today and continue tomorrow. of course, i'd like to continue replying to threads while doing so.
well i have a couple of discussions that don't have any response so i guess those will be staying unresolved until someone posts something. marking best responses wasn't really a priority for me hence the backlog in my unresolved responses. nowadays though, i'll probably give my discussions a month at the most before i mark a best response. if i don't receive a satisfactory answer after a month, i'll look through the responses again and pick out the best from the lot.
anyway, thanks for replying.
cheers!!!

hi yogesh1
you are correct, the unresolved responses are those that do not have any best response marked yet.
so hopefully, you've gotten around marking best responses in your discussions. i've managed to trim down my unresolved responses to two pages. i've got a couple of discussions with no responses so those will remained unresolved fro some more time.

I thought unresolved discussions means having zero responses. But when i saw in my unresolved responses, there were plenty of unresolved discussions!!
.
What does unresolved discussion means? Are these discussions not having marked as best response?

i also have a lot of unresolved discussions. i cannot say how old they are and i still can't find time to get back to them and mark the best responses. i am just too busy with work/office but if i have enough time, i will resolve them one by one.

hi neildc.
i have gone back and checked on my unresolved discussions. also went ahead and replied back to really old ones, some as far back as dating three years ago. lol!
anyway, not really getting any inspiration to start any new discussions. trying to reply to existing ones but it can be tiring and daunting at times especially if my thoughts are similar to what has been written down before. i figured i'd go ahead and revisit my old threads and see if i can reply to a couple of posts there. so i did just that. lol! anyway, i'd like to believe that most if not all my discussions aren't time bound so i guess my reply would still be relevant regardless if the discussion was made three minutes ago or three years ago. lol!
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

I usually choose best responses in a couple of weeks. I have had discussions go as long as two months without choosing. Sometimes it's hard when you get a lot of great responses and have to choose one. If there is no activity within my discussions for a couple of weeks, I try to go ahead and choose. I don't start a lot at once either..that usually helps me to stay active in them.
Take care!

hi jen.
those are very good suggestions indeed. i've set a one month time frame for my discussions. after one month, i'll go ahead and mark a best response. the bit about not starting a lot of discussions at the same time makes a lot of sense. at least you get a chance to 'oversee' your discussions and make sure that you get to reply back to those that participated.
thanks for sharing all these tips.
cheers!!!

I have not tried to dig into my discussion especially the ones that I started.
So I really do not know if how many unresolved discussion are there in my account.
Well, i think it is really nice to go back to it and check.
But not now as I do not have time yet.
maybe I will do it later.

hi irene66.
so have you got around marking 'best responses' to trim down the number of your unresolved discussions? i've gone ahead and gave out 'best responses' earlier and i think i was able to do so in two of my discussions so that's two less discussions in my unresolved discussions category.
anyway, i'm still looking through my unresolved discussions list and trying to cut down the list further. my goal is to have no less than five unresolved discussions by the end of the week. of course, i'll be starting a couple of new discussions in the next day or two so i'm really unsure if five is a good number at all. lol!
cheers and happy mylotting irene66!!!

Yes, I noticed that you had cleaned out your discussions and had given me a couple of BR's. Thanks for those!
I have been a bit slack here lately as I have not been online as much over the last couple of months. So I have not tended to my discussions as I should have. I even have one discussion with around six responses that u have not even commented on which is not like me. I used to be right on top of my discussions. I must go back and start doing something now. No time like the present to get started!

hi rawbill1!
how have you been man? hope you're doing well.
well, her i'm again going back to my old discussions. haven't really given any 'best response ratings yet but i have been replying back to some really old posts. lol!
anyway, i've slacked to in this regard and before it goes out of hand, i've decided to get back and read these old discussions and reply accordingly. i don't know but replying to previous discussions gives a different sense of feeling and accomplishment... or maybe i'm bored to my wits and can't reply to the current discussions started by others and neither can i start a couple of new discussions on my own. lol!
anyway, hope to see more of you in the mylot discussion boards rawbill!
cheers and happy mylotting!!!

Just lately i started resolving some of my unresolved topics,as old as 6 months old.
I don't select best response as early as a week.
But there are instances that i do select one after a day or two, when i really feel that's one of the best (because sometimes after giving the br,much better response came along)
So,i don't give br mark that early.

hey jaiho!
well that's my point about giving best responses early on in a discussion. let's say you give out a best response and then after that another response comes in and it turns out to be a better one than the reply that got the 'br' from you, what happens then?
anyway, i'll give my discussions a month tops to remain 'unresolved' and then i'll be giving out a 'br'. if ever that happens, i'll just acknowledge the reply in one way or another.
thanks for posting!
cheers!!!

Hello Allen,
Nice of you to be back. In my experience, It depends on the discussion, some discussions are easily resolved while some of my discussions are left open for more responses, though topics that had been sort with best response can still be responded. In my turf, it can always be left open with NO best response or it depends on my mood whether i can give a best response

hi letran knight!
hey man, what's up?
i was never gone, just never got around starting new discussions until this one. i have a list of ideas for new discussions but never had the time to start. hopefully, i can get a couple started today and tomorrow. been busy replying in other discussions.
you raised a good point there, some discussions can never really have a 'best response' either because most of the responses are well-thought of or there really is no 'best response'! lol!!!
i've narrowed the pages of my unresolved responses to three pages so hopefully i can mark a best response if i see fit and not end up with any unresolved ones.

Yes I have a few but mine are only a couple months old. Most likely because I do not start many but I can see how one can be delayed in placing the best response. There will be times for some members where it may be difficult to select one. I did get one yesterday that was a year old and I went over to the discussion and it brought back memories of my very early days.

Hello alien,
Though i start my discussion rarely but when i do start it i don't keep my discussions unresolved for so long i hardly give a week's time for responses to pour in it after that i select the appropriate BR.
Also i think one should not delay it as till the discussion remains new we can easily give BR as remember all responses & once it gets old again we havbe to read all responses and select BR which takes more time.

hi sjvg1976!
well good for you if you are able to select the most appropriate best response. i agree that selecting a best response while the discussion is still 'fresh' is advantageous.
thanks for joining the thread.
cheers!!!

Wow! You made me dig into my unresolved discussions back again.
I really don't have much of discussions to show so resolving all of my discussions should be a piece of cake. However I still had around three discussions which I haven't resolved yet. I usually choose a best response after a couple of replies and days past since creation date. I do have discussions wherein I only felt neutral with the responses, so marking a best response is really not possible. But for the others, I think I'll be marking for a best response soon. How soon is when I don't get lazy anymore to mark one so.

hi agent gulaman!
i'm glad that my thread prompted you to check on your unresolved discussions. i'm sure you'll soon be able to mark a best response for each of those three discussions. don't fret about not starting that many threads yet. it will naturally come to you.
anyway, i try my best to mark a best response whenever i can. of course there are instances that a 'best response' is not applicable but those are few and far in between in my case.
thanks for participating.
cheers!!!
