Why do I stay awake to try and earn that little bit more cash?

July 18, 2011 6:44pm CST
Am I alone on this or do others push not only their minds but bodies to the limit on a regular basis? Today I have done a 8 hour shift working a Macdonalds then cycled the 4 miles home (all up hill but that is for another rant) to then spend 2 hours writing articles. I know it only adds up to 10 hours but it is currently 00:42 and I am still clutching at straws to earn that little bit of extra cash. Honestly I don't know why I want too I have made enough for one day I still feel the need to work. Not for the money but because I feel I should be writing and doing more for my family. Am I just going mental?

Nope, you aren't alone. I think a lot of people forgo sleep to work. I know I do. It's hard not to, especially when you have others to care for and not just yourself.

I am starting to feel the repercussions of over a weeks worth of sleep deprecation, not so fun.

Absolutely not. You have a goal in mind. Until you are satisfied that you have reached this goal you will most likely "chomp away at the bit". I say as long as you can handle the stamina it takes do your thing. It's okay. We all do it. Sometimes I get backed up on my Lot and have to stay up until I can catch up. I have to do what I must. I have to say I have not been as dedicated as I would like to be. Reading your post just lets me know I have to do more.

Very, true.. Kind of a game of basketball, you won't stop playing till you have achieved a certain goal . I know it happens to me all the time

I understand the feeling. What i make on here and other such sites does not amount to all that much in the scheme of things, but this is the families fun money right now. It pays for the meal out, or the trip to the children's museum or to the zoo. I am probably going to do the same thing here. It is 22:06 here (10:06 pm). I have a few more sites to check, and a few discussions I want to respond to on here. Is it really going to earn me that much more? Probably not, but what I do now determines if we get an extra trip into the zoo this summer.

well that trip sounds worth the extra time you put in so I think we are on the same page.

Nope, you're not "just going mental". You just got excited about writing and want to write more. To get excitement in something is good, however, you should watch clock. Staying up late gives nothing good :)
