I was having some issues with my life, that I started to stop attending church for a while. I came from a traditional Catholic family that when I was a child the whole family would attend the church, complete attendance and never miss a Sunday service. Later when we grown up we became a convert and became Protestants. Before, I would feel so guilty and feel sicked if I miss a Sunday service but recently I just go to church once a month. I have my personal reasons for doing it. I believe God will understand? Now, I dont feel guilty anymore. I am a good person and I love God. Is it bad to just go to church once a month?

What dos God's word say on the subject? Hebrews 10:24-25 Common English Bible (CEB) 24 Let’s also think about how to motivate each other to show love and to do good works. 25 Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing. Instead, encourage each other, especially as you see the day drawing near. Why are you not motivated to go?

Even if we love God with all our heart and we are obedient to all his commandments we will still have problems in this world, sometimes even more so, as the Devil is not happy that we serve God and brings troubles upon us.

I don't think a person is bad if she goes to church only once a month though God would be happy to see us there all the time to worship and serve others as well. But that doesn't define people's goodness actually. I saw a lot of Catholic people in my hometown going to church every time they have the opportunity to go and haven't missed a single church activity and yet they steal from people's money thru the government funds and they abuse people. I haven't been to church for more than a year and i'm not proud to say that. LIke you i am a convert and i have found peace with God. But i wish i could go to church as often as i can, but i'm not going to make any promises that i cannot fulfill.

You will know in your heart what is right for you. If you are in a community that demands certain actions then you have to decide whether to go with the community or to go your own way.

I grew up attending church, but eventually I began to have trouble with it. I believed that science and religion should go hand in hand. I spent hours reading and researching this theory, but alas, neither science or religion would, or could recognize each other. I was so disappointed I gave up religion entirely. That was over 60 years ago, and I have never regretted my decision.

Going to church should not be like your just forcing yourself to do but because you love to be in fellowship with other brethrens in Christ. I cannot just say here you must go if you don't feel like since you said you only go once a month. It will be based on your own conviction as to what the Word of God says and not because you just want to follow what you like because you should be Christ centered not self centered, or just thinking more of yourself, how you feel, etc. A kind of walk with God is something that will reflect based on the Word of God. If you struggle in life, this is normal because you choose to be with Christ and suffer for him, I am not talking about lackness of material things in this world because it has nothing to do with your salvation. Being a good person does not save you from eternal punishment, remember that we all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. It is only by His grace we are saved (Eph.2:8-10). If you truly love God, you must obey according to His Words, not selecting what is written in the scripture, but by doing ALL that is written in His word. I pray that you would read the Bible more and pray so that you may be equipped.

Why does one go to church,to find God?? God is everywhere. A prayer is such a simple thing. It can be as simple as a thought. Be who you must! It's a part of the plan. Believing or how often one goes to church has never been important. Life is the education of God's children. Work on that.

Have a contact with God everyday not just at weekend or once a month. Pray to him and remember Him everyday and he will remember you, leave Him, He will leave you too~ It just my opinion only as every people have their own way of worshiping god.

Hi friend, I am also belong to a traditional catholic family. I can't say its bad or good avoiding Sunday church. When i feel that i am not good enough, i also likes to avoid church. But my mind says; you should go to church. And even if i feel very unhappy at the time, it gives me a lot of joy after attending the church. I know i am not perfect, but i am sure we can't do anything, even if it was of utmost priority, without God. Moreover it takes only 1 hour of our 168 hours a week.
