I love to eat and I always try something new. But whenever I go out to restaurants, is it appropriate if I use my bare hands instead of utensils? Here in our country, eating with bare hands is just normal. I don't care if someone stares at me while I am eating. I feel comfortable with it. What do you guys think?

I don't mind eating with my bare hands in a restaurant unless it's a fancy one. If it's a native restaurant and using utensils would be very difficult, i usually use my bare hands. I believe there's nothing to be ashamed of with that because it's our culture. Sometimes i find it sad that foreign people would try to do that in our own country and they seemed to be proud to have achieved it, while some of us are embarrassed of our own culture.

I do like to eat with bare hands, where ever it might be it is our habit and its just normal only.I never feel something difficult to eat in restaurants with bare hands and it is a good habit only,Before eating we must clean our hands in restaurants. Don't ever bother about the people around us and don't think what others feel if we eat like this. This is our culture and its quite normal, if any one questions simply say this is our country and its your wish .

It's also considered normal here if you use your bare hands while eating but there are restaurants here that would pretty much prefer you rather use eating utensils to eat your food instead of using your hands because simply it could get messy. Whenever I'm at home I eat with my hands if I don't have to use a spoon and fork but but when I'm outside I still follow good eating manners.

It is only at formal 'do's'that one is expected to use cutlery. You are supposed to enjoy your food and so you can do it your way provided you wash your hands before you use your fingers. I use cutlery mainly because I feel lazy to wash my hands and also since I have pets at home I won't be sure that I have touched them before my meal.

it's ok to eat with bare hands if the restaurant is up for it. there are even restos who encourage it. however, there are some that formality is required. it maybe normal, but in regard to common courtesy, eating with bare hands just wouldn't be appropriate. well, if the resto staff wouldn't mind it if you do so, then just eat according to how you want to do it.

Hi, sunnystarfish! Here in the Philippines, eating in bare hands is a natural culture. It makes what we are eating more delicious! I like to eat in bare hands too especially when I eat with my friends. I could really eat a lot. But when I'm in fancy restaurant, I guess eating in bare hands is inappropriate. People around me might ask where my table manners are. So, I would use the utensils. But in our house, I always have a choice how will I eat my foods. :)
