I'm mylotting here while my kids are watching tv and they were promoting the latest "As Seen on TV" item and ti's this thing called Bake Pops. Have you guys seen these yet? Another specialty pan that makes ball shaped pieces of cake, then you decorate them, and they are on a stick like a lolly pop. Kinda neat, but yet a waste as the novelty of it would wear off and people would rather go back to cup cakes or standard cakes for their events.

I haven't seen these on television, but I've seen some of my friends talking about them on facebook. I have to say that the concept is something that is neat, but I also don't really think that you would have to have a specialty pan in order to create something like this. With that said, this is definitely one thing that we don't need to have in our home because there really isn't anyone here that likes to eat cake.

There are a lot of specialty pans out there now, but to be honest, I don't see the point. As you said, the novelty will eventually wear off and then you have yet another pan in your cupboard that you never use.

I have gotten interesting things on impulse, and regretted them later. I have some pans that bake rose shaped cupcakes. I bought them for a friend's silver anniversary. They are silicone, but I have not used them since. Well this weekend I am making juice roses to float in a punch bowl for a wedding. I will not pull them out very often. I do not really regret them. On the other hand I bough a thing that is supposed to bake little shell cups. I remember how much I paid for it, but I have not used it in years. Gimmicks do make us buy on impulse.

No, I haven't seen those yet. I am sure that my MIL will see them and have to have them. I would never use a pan like that and she won't either, but she seems to always want the latest and newest gadget. I only buy pans that I know that I will use. This would be okay if you ran a specialty shop or something but not for everyday use.

I haven't seen the commercial but I have a recipe for it. I tried it once...they are no bake...well you bake a sheet cake and then once cooled you put a few other things with it (forget what, but nothing much) and form them into a ball, stick a stick in them and refrigerate them. Then decorate. I intend to try them often but life gets in the way! I think they'd be really great for kids party and such. I mean, grab a bite and go! But at the same time...do you know how many you'd have to bake to equal one cupcake for the purpose of filling a little tummy? I'd say a cake/cupcakes for the "main event" but these just for a little extra added fun.

I think i've seen it and like a lot of those baking dishes on the "As Seen On" commercials, it will lose it's appeal. Sounds like fun though, but something that'd most likely end up in a garage sale next summer I'd think. Though technically you could probably do the same from home, without that pan.
