When you have to take a decision and your heart and mind are on opposite sides of each other then do you follow your heart or do you listen to your mind?

I go with my gut. Do I feel comfortable with this? What could happen? Why do I feel this way? I am really working to go with my gut instinct and to back away from certain situations before I get too far into it. Over the years I have realized that going with your mind is best.

Well most of the time you have to process both conflicts of the mind and heart to come up with a solution either you combine choices or you do the pros and cons. I think there are also appropriate places wherein you have to choose more of what the mind thinks rather than the heart feels. Also at times I feel like both are connected in some way, I don't know like the heart is only a pool of thoughts and reflections in the mind.

Hi mewpeach07 As you said that you always find some conflicts between mind and heart, I think it is very common because heart does not go for the reasons, it just follow the feelings and mind always do the logical thinking. Therefore conflict is must.

I usually think first before i act to the certain situation that i am into. But sometimes it also depends to the situation. If heart matters then heart still rules :D

If depends on the situation. Sometimes you are using your heart, if its about someone you love or dont wanna lose, right? But sometimes your mind keep saying that you have to do the right thing no matter painful its gonna takes.

Hi ayis12 It is right that sometimes decisions taken by mind are very painful but we have to follow them.

I have been using my heart to make decisions in the affairs of my heart. But lately, it failed me, I was hurt and i blamed it that i wasn't too cautious, i did not use my mind over heart. Someone hurt me and now I am confused and afraid to use my heart to make decisions. What about you?

Hi whitewingspeak I feel very bad to know about your failure but it's life and show must go on. I generally follow my heart and most of the time i cried for my decisions. Every time i decide that from next time i follow my mind but rarely do it.

Sometimes you have to decide with your heart instead of your mind because there are decisions that requires your heart instead of your mind. It actually depends on the situation.

You know it really can depend on the situation. A lot of the times, my heart does tend to blind me from a lot of logic to say the very least. There have been numerous times where I followed my heart, where I should have thought some things through a bit more logically. There are many times where matters of the heart can really be something that causes be to tangle up to say the very least. There are just a lot of times where the heart tends to be fogged. Then again, there are times where you can in fact outsmart yourself. Where you can in fact really think and while that might work, there is always a pretty good chance that you will be thinking a little too much. There are times where you are going to really stumble over your own feet. Times where matters of the heart might steer you a bit better. Then there are times where technically speaking both sides are wrong, but you've got to determine what is more right, if that makes any sense.

I often try to remind myself not to put my heart above my head. But I'm human and I tend to forget that I need to let my heart work in conjunction with my mind.

bamikqlipal Mind and heart are just complimentary to each other. But in certain situations only one has to take the decision even when other opposes it.

Depends on the situation... But usually whatever's more rational. Cute little dog that really turns into a deamon when you pet it? Do you follow your heart and pet it because you think its soooo cute? Or do you not follow the one you love because your mind is telling you not to?

there is no such thing as listening to the heart organ.... why? because it is only an expression.... actually, heart doesn't have feelings, but it only function serves as the pumping of the blood from absorbing blood veins and pumping out thru blood arteries and distribute to all sectors by capillaries.... it's all in the mind (brain) itself.... love, fear, insecure, jealous, g4y's and l3sbian's(gender feelings), joy, hospitality attitude, whatever.... are all functions done by BRAIN.... since organ like Heart doesn't have a storage device just to input all of these and all of that... but, heart feelings is only an expression and nothing more.... the brain dictates all and everything....

I am torned between these two. I love my partner so much that I chose to be with him even though he cheated me twice. He's not perfect and don't really exert effort for me but my mind wins over my heart.

I find it depends too. sometimes my head tells me i must do something, because it is the sensible thing to do but my heart says no, and quite often, on those occasions, my heart turns out to have been right. On other occasions when my heart goes crazy and says i must do something and head says no it is my head that was right. i find out afterwards! i think what i have discovered is that i have to ask both head and heart why they are telling me to do something, and then decide which is right. but thats the difficult bit.

Hi francesca5 Your situation is quite confusing. When you listen to your heart then it is right and when your mind say somethign then ur mimd is right.

It depends my dear!, if you are making a decision on a matter concerned to heart like love, marriage, you must follow your heart and if the matter is concerned to mind like education, building a house, traveling then you should follow the decision of your mind. Check it and know whether I am right or wrong?

mimran4381 Your views are very straight. For the matters of heart follows heart and for others follow mind. Good.
