What was your first anime experience?

I often look back in order to determine how my life has changed. Recently, I noted how much I enjoy anime and realized that my love of art, drawing, and storytelling largely evolved from this. I began watching cartoons when I was very young, but it was the Japanese animations that I loved most. Back in my youth it was known as Japanimation, but now it is known as Anime. Sailor Moon and Robotech are favorites from my youth, but I fondly recall other shows, some of which people might not even realize are anime. How did your love affair with anime begin?

My very first anime experience was Speed Racer. I think I was about 5 or 6 years old. And I was so in lone with this anime. I can still remember the passion for this show ;D Also Sumarai X was amazing anime. I even considering to watch this one again after so many years.

I agree, Samurai X is an amazing anime. What did you like about it so much though? Speed Racer was made into a movie a few years ago, but I honestly didn't think too much of it.

Dragon ball and Dragon Ball Z are two of my favorite anime! I am not sure about "magic kids" I don't know if I've heard of it. Do you have a favorite Dragon Ball characters?

Dragon Ball Z was my very first anime too. =] I started off watching that when I was really little, and I guess that's why I'm now obsessed with anime action/fighting. XD I would have to say that my favorite Dragon Ball characters were Arale and Goku, and in Dragon Ball Z, it was Goku, Trunks, and Androids 17 and 18 (especially 18). Who were your favorite Dragon Ball characters?

Those shows are all true classics, and they started so many anime genres! I know exactly what you mean about waiting to see them every weekend.

Both Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z are awesome shows with a huge fan following. It's strange how so many people want to claim neither are true anime simply because they are popular and were nationally broadcast in America. I draw anime characters too. I've done passable fanart of goku from Dragon Ball Z for instance.

I think the first anime I ever watched was either Speed Racer, Sailor Moon or Pokemon. At the time I had no idea about anime though. It wasn't until I saw Yu Yu Hakusho back when it aired on Adult Swim that I really became interested in anime. After that, I started watching the anime that came on [as], and then I started to watch some online also.

Adult Swim introduced me to a lot of anime back in the day as well. When I was old enough to buy or rent my own it began to lose its grip on my soul, but I still remember it fondly because it showed some of my favorite shows, especially latter seasons of shows such as Sailor moon that no other network carried.

I'm watching some anime over the internet at first it looks like boring to me i was like 4 years old that time. Then after that the only one anime that make me so curious to it is Asagiri No Miko or Shrine of the morning mist so i bought all of the chapters of it and read it until i'm being addicted to it.. ?Johnjose?

That's an excellent anime and manga. I really need to finish it some time. I've just been so busy of late.

I wouldn't say that I'm in love with anime shows but there are definitely some out there that I thoroughly enjoy. Some of my favorites would include Full Metal Alchemist and Inuyasha. I watch a lot of adult swim and I was never really all that interested in anime because I never really watched any of it. But just like everything else I think people shouldn't knock it before they try it. I really enjoy Full Metal Alchemist and Inuyasha because they both have really good storylines and really good characters as well. I've always been interested in the study of alchemy and Inuyasha has a lot of demon characters and also has a mystical kind of fighting style. Anime is definitely enjoyable. Have you ever watched either of the shows I was talking about? If so do you know of any good anime shows similar to those ones?

I've seen both of those shows and love them! I hear good things about Magical Lyrical Nanoha, and a few others. There are so many types of anime in the genre. The Twelve Kingdoms is pretty good for the first story arc. It becomes odd in later ones.

The first anime I fell in love with is Samurai X. I love the story and the songs as well. I watched it dubbed in English. As of now, I still love this anime.

I absolutely love Samurai X! I am more of a dub that a sub person.

I really can't remember but I started with the subbed version in my country. I believe, if my memory serves me right, that it was a couple of animes since the local channel back then introduced a anime hour or two animes showing at a time slot. I remember Zenki, BTX, Tenchi Muyo, butchered and censored Evangelion, Dragon ball and others. But my real love of anime came and was cemented when I first watched Vision of Escaflowne in the English dubbed version, still in my country.

Tenchi, in all its iterations, Dragon ball, and Dragon Ball Z are some of my favorite anime. Vision of Escaflowne was basically awesomesauce and win. Do you have any specific characters you like the most?

The very first anime that I could remember and the one that really got stuck in my head is an anime called "Cedie: Ang Munting Prinsipe." It's simply a Filipino-dubbed anime of Little Lord Fauntleroy or Little Prince Cedie. It's the one that my family and I religiously watched every morning. I got school back then and yet, I don't know why I was able to watch it episode by episode. Either it was aired during my summer vacation or I just like to skip class all the time. I am a MyLot noob and the moment I saw this discussion, I decided to go on and participate.

I've seen some Naruto. I was more interested in it after the time skip though. The original series irritated me for some reason, even if it was really cool.

My love of anime started with Sailor Moon and Pokemon when I was 6 years old. Later I evolved to YuYu Hakusho, Dragon Ball Z, and YuGiOh. I have now expanded to reading, writing, and watching anime and manga.

The very first anime experience I had was Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, and Tenchi Muyo. However, it was not until I saw Full Metal Panic that I realized what anime was and how incredible and fascinating Japanese animation, culture, language, and art can be.

The first animes that i watched were Doraemon and Sailor Moon. And Saint Seiya, too. I watched them about 15 years ago. The stories and the drawings were different from the animes nowadays.
