Losing my job!

I'm gonna lose my job effective after next month. It was just last month when we had our performance evaluation and I've got an 8 out of 10 which is equivalent to Very Satisfactory. Our head even wondered why. She even fought for me from the HRDO. One thing that our head is entertaining on her mind is it could be political! I am a government employee since 2008. Having been appointed by the mayor himself. Now, that the administration changed, the present mayor had a series of bitter situations from the ex-mayor. They're now rivals. They used to be in one team. Pardon me on this, I don't want to be one-sided, all I wanted to say is the truth. It was the ex-mayor who made the present mayor won the 2010 election. Many things had happened between them from the day the present mayor sat down on his position up to now. In the long run, this present mayor became bitter that all allies of the ex-mayor was terminated and that it includes me (unluckily!). Yeah, I am a strong supporter of the ex-mayor due to his management scheme and achieved goals. In as much as I wanted to hate the present mayor, I could not. I wanted to blame him but I could not...Deep in my heart I could hear it says to take the situation as a challenge with a faith on God that one day, all these struggles will end and I'll see myself on the higher level from where I am now. These persons were just used by time for a purpose that will mold me into someone God wanted me to be. Things happened for a reason. Early this year I applied for a work abroad and I have now an employer. Now, I am just waiting for their call for a resignation anytime. Hoping and praying that the employer will call me soon before September! How thrilling my life could be, right? Each day is like a countdown of whose gonna make it, resignation or end of contract? My friends told me that I should resign by this month while others told me to end the contract. Is end of contract equivalent to termination? Just have this question on my mind now. I don't want to resign without the employer's signal in as much as I could. But the fact remains that I'll be only up to September! Help me everyone to decide on this matter.

End of contract does not mean resignation, not unless your contract is not going to be renewed. But you said that you will be till September there, is that going to be renewed by the employer or you still don't know? Since you said you applied for a job abroad, the question is, are you cleared of all the responsibilities before you really resign? or you are still waiting to know if you will be axed? since you said also that you wanted to wait for the employers' signal, then that's it, all you need to decide is if you wanted stay or leave, what is your assessment?

Tnx strawberrychocodahi! just got a good news yesterday! My employer abroad is processing my visa. It will take about 2-3 weeks. The employer wants me to get ready for a deployment after the visa released and he also wants me to pass my resignation on my current job! I prayed for this..Since my future on my current job is unstable and unclear, I decided to push through my resignation. My resignation will be effective next month. Enough time to get my visa. do I make my decision justifiable?

hi may.. Good thing that you have a back up after that situation.. it is really difficult to work in the government office especially if there is some political involve.. but that is fine.. you know for yourself that it wasn't your fault and you have good performance evaluation.. so they can never say something bad from you because it is reflected on your papers.. good luck on your career!

Hello! thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. I may have an easy access getting my job but the returns were so unreasonable. I may find it bias but that's just politics here. My only hope now is my new employer that is if he calls. I hope and I pray he will.

I admire you for being positive despite of what is happening to you. That is one good quality. I'm sure whatever will be the result of this, you can still survive and make it good in the future. If I am in your shoes, I'll wait til they tell you to resign. Nobody knows, the current mayor might still have a change of heart and retain you. As you said, you have a good performance. If things goes to worse, you still get your benefits like separation pay and etc. That can give you cushion til you get a new job or your work abroad has been approved. Happy myLotting!!!

I would wait to resign. I don't know if you have a pension plan and if so if you were fully vested but if you quite that could put it in jeopordy as will the insurance and other things. It just depends on how they have your benefits set up. Now if they offer you a package and to go and get all of the beneifts plus money I would resign, not quite. I am happy to hear you probronbly have a job else where already, but till the ink has dried look at all your options. Things can happen and just like you said they happen for a reason. God Bless

His reason is too shallow. Yeah it is very difficult to find a job nowadays. I hope I could have the job abroad. That's my only option right. I'm still waiting for my employer.
