Silence makes me deaf sometimes...

I must admit that i am such a spoiled brat. My father used to lavish me with too much love but i still seek for his attention more and more. When relatives like older cousins would make me their favorite i tend to demand more of their love and attention. When a friend would shower me with attention, i do the same. So my friend has spoiled me with everyday messages, making me feel like i'm the best friend ever. Then he told me he was going away for a week and communicating with me would be difficult since Wales' 3g signal is rubbish. I didn't make him feel that i was a bit disappointed. Despite the rubbish signal in Wales, he was able to send me a message from the time he was there. But today, there was just silence on my phone and i didn't receive a single message from him. I almost go deaf with this kind of silence.

Hello, toni.. :) Don't be too sad about it.. Maybe he's just busy doing his things. :) I think, you felt that way because you got yourself so used to it and you didn't expect that he won't do the things he used to do anymore.. Like texting you. :) I hope he can text you sooner. You just miss him.. :)

Yes I'm so used to his bbm messages! I know the reason why he couldn't send one. 3g signal in Wales is terrible so he couldn't send one but he tries sometimes. He's there only for a week and he'll be coming home to Aylesbury on Saturday. So till then I have to be patient.

Hi Toni! I am also very fond of sending and receiving messages and it is everyday ritual for me to send and to receive numerous messages to/from my friends/relatives. I can understand the lull on your mobile screen because when some of the regular friends do not send messages, I feel bad in the sense – ‘why did not they send me messages’. I feel receiving and sending messages is kind of addiction (positive and healthy addiction, I must say) and we love to receive messages. Please do not feel disheartened, you will soon start receiving his messages.

I am happy to hear that I made you feel better. I can understand your possessiveness.. Take it easy, if you say that you are 'selfish'. For that matter everybody in this world is selfish, barring some exceptions, who behave selflessly. We all have one or another selfish motive(s), when we interact with each other (these motives could be healthy and positive too, not necessarily mean or negative).

Thanks Dee. You make me feel better with this response. I am a very possessive friend and sometimes i think it's not good because it makes me become selfish though i never express it to them at all. So most of them don't know that i'm selfish and that includes you too. But now you know.

I think what you are trying to say is you missing something. It is obvious that you are missing someone considering that you are always pampered by lovely messages from such wonderful person. I do hope that you will be able to receive such messages again to take away the silence in your heart the deafness in your ears. Best to you always!

oh don't worry, you aren't alone. my partner would sleep on after i go to work, usually until about 11am.. and i'm in work for 2 hours with no contact from her.. and she hates texting. and then whenever shes busy doing things around the house i don't hear from her either and it makes me really sad, because i'm so bored and lonley in work.. and shes not bored or lonley because shes with the dogs, and has the tv and stuff, and it drives me mad. so i totally hear where your coming from, you aren't alone!

Oh thank goodness and I thought I'm insane for being so selfish like this. Sometimes I try to control it though. But if I feel like this toward another person, it means her or his friendship is special to me.

exactly! so it's not a bad thing it means you value their friendship and enjoy their time and company.. thats a good thing. you know you will always have a friend in them, and you are able to say you will always be a friend to them! and as they say, when you really really care about someone, absense makes the heart grow fonder :)

Sorry that you aren't managing without the constant communication, but I think that you need to understand that it is not possible for someone to be able to be constantly in touch with other people - especially not with the bad signal! Personally, I think you are being a little unreasonable expecting him to be in contact every day! I am sure that after a few days of not hearing from him, the emptiness you feel will diminish somewhat and you should find it easier each day after that.

Like i said i'm so used to that that it's just defeaning for my phone to be silent. I know it's unreasonable that's why i never mentioned it to him at all nor did i tell him how bad i feel. That's why i'm keeping it to myself. And he already sent a message yesterday. I knew he would if he could and that made me feel better.

it's nice to feel special, who wouldn't want that right, and if they're showering you with attention and love you also need to give it back and give them the same, so that they will never feel neglected and will continue to treat you the same, but sometimes there are some circumstances that they can't show their love everyday or not able to send message, but that doesn't mean that they forget about you, maybe he is just giving you a one day to miss him or he is just waiting for you to send message to him.

True. I do give them back what they are giving me. It's not that he wants me to miss him but it's because there's no 3G signal in Wales so it's impossible for him to send me a bbm. He told me he could hardly send a bbm at all and whenever he get the chance he says hi.
