I have tons and tons of pages to read for some test and then when I start to read I also start to think about other things. It makes me crazy and I always have to spend more time than I really need to finish something. I don’t know what to do. I can’t concentrate enough, always I think about other things. Somebody knows some techniques to study better or at least have more concentration in what I am doing??? Thanks for share!

hi kwylima I suggest turning off computer and t.v. radio anything thats distracting, then go into a quiet room, shut off cell phone too, and study what you must for the test, after so long of reading underline whats important and write it down, do not put your mind on anything but reading the material for your test.get that done, check it off the must do list, then go on to the next most important thing.and I do mean a quiet room. sans noise, sans things you are drawn to.

I always had the same trouble. I was not able to concentrate and focus on what I was doing. I was not able to learn only. I will share the thing I used to do to improve this. I just to summarize everything. With french I just re-wrote the words, sentences in a summary. History just made a summary of the critical events, years/dates. I summarized it into a writing, which I used to read several times. And highlighted the things I just could not remember. By summarizing, you force yourself to reading the pages and focus on what is the important part. You write it down, when you do you see it all once more. During this process you are actually learning the stuff. When I finished the summary I would go over it with someone, asking me stuff and I soon realised that during this process I learned most of it already and there were usually just a couple of points that needed some work. It is much work but reading a page over and over again because you are not focused is too!

Well, you could start by establishing a schedule. Follow that schedule and concentrate. I know that it's tough to read or focus when there's a lot of concerns going about, but I think it's best that you clear your head and be determined to finish things. My brother has the same problem with you, he can't seem to concentrate on his studies. On the other hand, my other 2 brothers have great concentrations. I think this comes because of the study habits of each one of them. The study habits of my 2 brothers who can concentrate goes back to when they were still young. They always have time to read. Even if there are no exams or no quizzes, they make sure that they read at least an hour or so each night. On the other hand, my brother who cannot concentrate didn't have the same study habits. He would only grab his books when there's an exam coming up and he tends to panic and cram. Which only adds to his stresses and therefore cannot concentrate. So, I think what you could do for now is to establish a study habit. Always stick to that regardless if there isn't any exam or quizzes. Just have the habit. Soon you'll see that studying wouldn't be difficult. You'll also see that you'd have better concentration. Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

Make sure that when you sit down to read, that you have no distractions. Nothing that could distract you from your reading. Taking notes is another good idea to actually do. It's something that I usually do, and have done, and it has helped me focus.

Well, sometimes I used to be in your current situation. I know study habit vary from one person to another, as for me I used to study well when cool music was playing- when a radio was on. But it was hard to study in a quiet environment, so I always had a pen and a blank paper to write down main points. This acted as a restriction as maximum concentration was needed in order to come up with the points.

You should go into a room where you won't be disturbed by anything. be it your room or the garage. Point is, no tv, or radio. Hardcore studying is the way to go. Either that or complain about lots of work to your teacher ;)

I also get easily distracted, but I am not a student. I think one technique is to establish a comfortable, well lit place to study, and remove distractions from that area, even though it should be attractive and comfortable. Then, each time you are going to study, turn off the music or TV and sit in your studying spot and study. If you use that space exclusively for studying soon you will have your brain trained.

Actually speaking, there is no way to make you get concentrated immediately.what you should do now is to read increasing pages gradually from you can afford.Make a plan to finish that you must do this day.when study becomes a burden, which is terrible.Good luck to you!!!

Just remember to relax and put your mind at ease so it can concentrate. I think you are panicking and that is no going to help you at all. Just take it one by one and rest if you think your mind is tired. Your anxiety on how to tackle is load seems to be empowering you. Don't let that happen. You need to just calm your senses down so you can get the most out of what you are reading.

well, i do have this problem but u need to reduce the ammount of distractions around you that is the most important thing. but i there is a way you can stop this by slapping yourself in the face when you notice you are getting side tracked to stop yourself doing it again :D

Well to start i believe that to stay focused try to keep your mind on what it is you need to by reminding yourself you can write notes to remind yourself, you can read one page and summerize it then take a small break, then after the break you can start focusing on the second page then do it again and again till ur done that way you dont side track the break will help you to keep your mind focused.

You should create a plan.Like study for a few hours and take breaks in between to get your concentration back.Studying without breaks will only lead to more distractions so take a break and recharge.
