Dear Friends ! My sister had a kidney transplantation three years back . All her reports are OK and she is doing fine by the grace of God . The problem she is facing is that of the effects of Steroids that she is taking . She has developed cushinoid features . We are also concerned about what diet she should follow and what exercises she must do . She walks alot and does Yoga and some free hand exercises as well . Her weight in terms of height - weight ratio is Ok but she looks fat . Her tummy is bulging , she has a big round face (contrary to the stage before taking steroids ). She is doing online jobs . How many of you have experiences of dealing with such patients ? Need your guidance , advice and prayers to keep her happy and healthy .

I still have this problem after taking steroids. My features have change a little bit after exercise and diet. It's really hard work to loose this cushinoid features but I believe she can do it. As I said before. It's depend how long she has to take such medications. I took it 2 months but high doses. When I saw myself in the mirror I could not believe what I see. But I was positive and working hard to change it. Still have something left to change but I know that I will make it. Good luck.

Well, from what I understand this is some of the problems a person can have from Transplants and from steroids is the problems with excess swelling look in their face, stomache, etc. and in reality I would think it would be Best for a Doctor to be able to tell you what is the Best to do. I know that being on Steroids for a long period of time is known to also cause other issues sometimes so you might want to make sure they are getting Blood work, etc. done for other issues as well.
Good to hear that other than this, things are going good though.

Thanks for your feedbacks KrauseHome . The doctors have asked her to do normal exercises and take healthy diet . Apart from taking regular medicines she has no other restrictions . The other side effects of steroid is closely monitored by her nephrologist and By God's grace she is fine . I was just trying to find some people who themselves or their families have undergone such phases and could suggest some guidelines and share experiences .
