I'm going to have to say that, of course not like that but you get what I mean. I'm not allowed to take the savings card from another person in line or from their friend etc, I have to ask if they want to sign up for one.
A lot of people would probably do that, while others won't. In any case, I worked for another store where we had to ask for the card, but I don't remember part of the training ever being that we couldn't accept another person's savings card. Of course, I think they'd rather us get them to sign up for the card but it wasn't something pushed either.
Well I can understand why the store I now work at has us do that, because cards can be preloaded with coupons and if you let the person in front of you use their card they may have the same item as you but no coupons and therefore their stealing your savings or vice versa.
We also have to let them know how much they saved that day. Didn't have to do that at the grocery store I worked at before this one.
I'm not complaining, just kind of stating facts.
How many grocery stores / pharmacies do you have a card for?

I have always had a Albertsons Saving Card. They have had one for forever. Seems like before other places started with theirs. I also have a Rite-Aid Saving Card. I dont use it very often but my daughter goes there occasionally and I share her savings card. I guess when you reach a certain amount you get 20% off for a year. Pays if you go there alot.

Luckily for me I feel like most of the people who will go in already have one. Though it's in a "darn I forgot something!" area.. Ya know the store surrounded by a lot of different residences. It's also in the "this is the only close place to shop" area too sooo...
I like savings cards, especially with incentives such as a certain percent off after so long. CVS has the coupon printer now in their store, I think it links with you're card.
These things keep up with what you buy and prints off coupons that work FOR you.. I LOVE that.. as I'm a picky shopper

I think the one at Albertson's is pretty much a scam. I think they hike up the prices and then have a 'sale' or give you alittle off when you use your card when all they are really doing is bringing it down to the price it should have been all along. I don't trust them. If they can do this what else can they do?

I understand that. I feel weary about places like that and have to wonder if I don't work for one of them myself. No offense to the company....

I'm having to read this several times and still not sure I got you right. You're saying that the price of the food at stores like this is already pretty expensive, so you're really not "saving" when you "save" at these stores?

Oh yeah, the gimmicks. Get you to buy but you're really wasting money because you're paying more then what you could be paying. Coupons come in handy to kind of "lower" the price down to what it should be.

I have about four or five cards, but if I am with my friend, and I do not have a card, she will ask if she can use her grocery card. and if I cannot shop as what happened, I will give her my credit card if that includes the grocery pin number or the credit card, cash, plus my air miles, etc. card. So far there has not been a problem because the grocery card does not put it on her groceries but on mine. However I did type a note and sign it, with my phone number just in case the cashier wanted to know.
I did get a pre loaded Master or Visa card for Christmas, and I do not know if had I not been able to go that a friend of mine could buy the stuff on my behalf. I would be more inclined to wait until I was better or she could have taken me even if she had to carry me into the store.

We have several grocery stores, and often there are two types of each. For instance we have an uppioty grocery store called Sobeys and a regular one called IGA. So if you want to get salad stuff that is fresher and food hat is always refreshed you go to Sobeys, but if you really do not care, you go to IGA. I started to go to Sobeys, and for some reason, got better bargains. You see, if the food is fresher and replaced more, it lasts longer when you get home.

The policies stores have are silly sometimes, but I can understand them. When it comes to using credit cards etc they're more lenient, especially since there's many times people are laid up at home for awhile and can't get out. The store I work for is an "uppity" store... lots of yummy looking food too.

Definitely because you're getting items that most likely just came off the truck.

Nowadays I rarely if ever have to hand over a store points card at the checkout.... the ones I'd use most often have barcodes on them, and therefore can be self scanned, and I'd use the self checkout lane fairly often too.. these just keep count of my points balance,though..not many have additional features that can be accessed in store, such as for coupon redemption.. coupons and such would be posted out to me on a regular basis with the points balance statement.

Kind of like Big Lots cards. The cards I have are mostly for grocery stores, or one for CVS. I have big lots too.

I have a big lots and a CVS card, not a sams crd but know many people with one so if need be I can just ask them to come with. Randall's not sure we have one around here.
Well actually I'm not sure where my CVS card is anymore but my sister and brother in law work at CVS' so I just give them my phone number.

So it's a grocery store? I thought it might be a clothing store by the way it sounded.

Hi Cowgirl! Sounds like you're really excited about your new
job. I hope you do well and I'm glad that you explained some
of that information about the store cards. I never really thought
about not using a card of another person and why, but I understand
that the store might lose money. Where I shop they do allow you
to "lend" another customer in line yours. If you have one, but
not with you some stores just need to punch in your phone # and
get your card #. Not all stores have the same procedures and rules.
I have quite a few of those cards, but only carry the ones for the
stores I go to the most so I make sure I get those "sale items"!
Good Luck!

My store also lets you punch in a telephone number. At the store I work for, and the location, I doubt I'll get many who don't have a card. Most of them will have one and have it handy as the people who shop there live not too far away from it. It's like a shopping center surrounded by a lot of residents and near another county.

Just one. I didn't sign up for it though...my husband did! Which is kind of shocking, seeing as neither of normally sign up for these kinds of things. But hey, at least I have a card now and best of all I didn't have to do it!
Happy mylotting!
PS So, other than that, how's work going for ya?

Yeah they are a bit of a pain to sign up for.. well not a pain but kind of a "am I really going to shop here kind of thing?" I signed up for most of mine years ago when I first moved out on my own.. and the one for my store? oh the other day and I didn't even have to do anything!
I'm in school right now, aka training, haven't gotten on a register, tomorrow I will though.

I have a card for CVS pharmacy, Kmart, Big Lots, and Schnucks(grocery store). The CVS one is the only real discount one that you can save all the time. Kmart I guess you earn points. Big Lots if you spend over $20 then after so many $20+ transactions then you save 20% off your total purchase. Schnucks card is one that gives money back to the school you sign up for.

Gosh there seems to be a loyalty card for EVERYTHING - if I got one for every place I go I seriuosly would not know where to put them all. I would have to make a dresser drawer just devoted to loyalty cards. I only have one to the casino (ha ha) and the gas station. I don't have a grocery store one as I usually grocery shop at Aldi's and I don't think they have one. lol.

I don't think aldi's has one either. Yeah it seems like EVERYWHERE has them now. Even gas stations are starting to get them. They are a bit ridiculous and a lot of places I don't ever go. I have a few from other grocery stores and I never go there. Heck, I never go to the one I work for now, though that will change.
