It has been a summer for learners permits and can I drive your car. I have a set of twin grandboys who has reached the age of obtaining a driver's learners permit. And it seem as though there were a lot of teenagers in the neighborhood doing the samething. I know of at least 5. I have a cousin here in the same neighborhood whose daughter is that age and I observed her (the daughter) driving her mother's vehicle this summer. Another teen just down the street has been driving her parents around this summer. Well now school is getting ready to start and all these teens can drive their drivers ed teachers around and give the rest of us a break. Have you had to deal with this situation? I am a nervous wreck, I had to tell them I don't do leatners driving, ask your parents. (WOW) Kids will test you too. One of twin's ask me if I knew the speed limit on a certain street we travel everyday? I told him no, he said my mom doesn't either, but she told me to slow down I was driving too fast. If she didn't no the speed limit how did she know I was driving too fast?

Been there done that, lol. Glad that is behind me. I taught both my sons to drive a long time ago. Think i'll be too old by the time my grandson gets ready to drive.

The driver's ed book will say something like "all residential streets that are unposted are restricted to 30 mph." and must be driving in a manner that is "reasonable and prudent" for conditions. Not sure people with learner's permits are reasonable and prudent. I would have tried to stay off the road for my own safety. Yay for school starting.
