This news came out in the tv 2 days ago but it was rather very disturbing. A father was complaining because when he saw and inspected his newly born baby which was declared dead after giving birth, he found out that there are stitches in the neck. One of the very amazing gift of God is giving birth which though it looks painful and hard, it should be done naturally. Medicine and technology now make it easier because of the assistance of doctors and midwives so it is rather unusual to see news like it. Health providers doesn't need to pull hard the baby but instead just make sure that the baby will not hurt on the process. How come that this event happens? Who are to be blame on this incident? What do you think guys?

I have seen this news and sad to say that a couple lost their baby after several months of taking care and carrying him/her on the mother's womb. I could say that both parties have their own reasons and faults as well. According to the news, the parents did not return as doctors recommendation instead they went back when it was time to give birth. On the other hand, the doctor who did the procedure did not somehow checked on the medical history of his patient. Both parties have their own shortcomings and the poor child has to suffer the consequences. To expected parents, give time to know more about your unborn child's health to make sure he comes out healthy and alive. To the doctors, please make sure that you know your patient so you can do proper procedure and treatment to your patients.

It is really painful especially to the mother who had taken care of her baby in her womb for the past nine months. Acceptance would be too hard for her. I could not blame the parents for not having a complete prenatal check-up, it is very costly here in the Philippines. Though they should still look for health centers which gives free check-up for pregnant woment. Maybe e

Most of our health centers provide free prenatal checkups for expectant mothers. Only that our government lacks in someway to inform the public about these health facilities in some areas.

This is really sad news and I'm glad you brought this up for a discussion because I saw only a portion of the news and I was not able to listen to the whole story. My heart goes out to the parents of the said baby. They must feel very bad to lose their baby. We should have a malpractice law here in the Philippines just like in the U.S. so that patient's well being will be closely guarded. There are many malpractices that I have heard that were shared to me by some close friends and it is very depressing that some patients will just let this go because it is very costly to pay for an attorney and went through all the litigation process. I think it is high time that our legislators will pursue a law on medical malpractice. Since doctors nowadays are specializing and they charge a high fee for their service then we as patents should be assured of the highest quality of care. And since doctors are human and they sometimes commit mistakes, they can always get a malpractice insurance. This is what the U.S. do to health care workers so that their work will not be disrupted. If they commit some malpractice then the insurance will be the one to pay for it. The life cannot be bought and can never be brought back also by money but at least the family of the patient will be compensated at least.

I do hope that there will be a law regarding this case. I do hear on the news people going after medical practitioners but haven't read of a case where a licensed doctor was put to jail for problems like this. There are many things that's need to be change in the health sector, some of them was already addressed like the no bill act, wherein patients should not be held back in the hospital for the reason that he cannot pay his bills. Free access to hospital are also given to the indigents.

i also saw this in the news and i felt really bad about the parents having their child with the head cut because of the delivery. the doctors had an explanation on why and how that has happened but i dont quite buy it. i think that it must be investigated by the DOH or by the government to stop any similar happenings like this.

This is a very alarming news that happen in the hospital. I was not able to watch the news but a friend doctor of mine mentioned it to me when we had a short chat last week. What an ironic situation! People go to the hospital to be cured and here is one incident that is contrary to the main purpose why they are in our society. Of course we can't generalize but I just hope that this incident will be an eye opener to all health practitioners. They should preserve life, maintain the well-being of their patients and not to cut it short because of their inefficiency. Having a malpractice is not a solution to the problem but a sanction of revocation of their license to practice would be apt to this kind of incident. This can create a mistrust to the people they serve.

The doctors are to blame, if they were pulling the baby out, just let it come out naturaly.

This is purely medical malpractice. Even the mother doesn't visit a doctor during the course of her pregnancy, the attending physician or midwife should know what to do before subjecting the patient to whatever procedure is necessary.

I saw a teaser of this on TV but didn't get the details, another shocking and unforgivable news. So they tried to hide the crime. Very unprofessional people, they should be kick out as PRC member.

Oh yes, we saw that on TV just this morning. I pity the parents. The doctor was explaining why it happened. Then, it was brought out that a case is ongoing because he also did the same to a mother giving birth. Yet, he wasn't sacked from that hospital. In my opinion, that was a malpractice of the doctor which should be given a due attention by the hospital.

hi:) Yes I saw it in the news this morning and I feel so pity for the parents, but the doctor was explained that the child is not in normal position, that's why it happens, but we also doubt that because we think that there's still time to do a Cesarian but they didn't , my mom said perhaps they pull the baby so hard, so that's the reason why that happens. so sad, but I hope the family will get the right justice for it if something that's done is wrong.

How could such a thing happen?! Was it a caesarean birth? Even so, it should not have happened. Maybe the doctors and/or the midwives involved were untrained or inexperienced? But even then, I am sure there would be at least a more senior doctor present. I suppose the doctors should be blamed. In my country, the major mistakes made by doctors (including trainee doctors) while they are performing surgeries, etc are often covered up. I guess it's to protect the reputation of doctors here. Sigh...

i've seen this news too. it's really sad. i think it's a demonstration of malpractice. this should be thoroughly investigated and punish those who are responsible for the "crime". there are many cases like this in the philippines.
