Would you prefer to live in traditional house or in a modern apartment building? There are many advantages if being in modern apartment. Modern apartment building has very good facilities including toilets, kitchen etc and more over the design is very different. They are designed according to the requirements and also the life would be much easier there in the modern apartment. But on other had, traditional house have great design too. It is graceful and warm and inviting. It is also beautiful. Of course traditional house can't guarantee that the roof isn't going to leak, the windows are properly sealed and the kitchen appliance are in the working order. Traditional house cannot guarantee it.

I think I would prefer to build a traditional house but in a way that has modern facilities on the inside. It would just give you an apperance that its a traditional house outside but when you get to go inside its not primitive but a modern house that has modern facilities that others would thought that house would not have. that would be cool! :)

I think that would depend on where you want to build your house. You have to consider if that place is prone to floods and how about when there's storm. I think you have to do a research first before building your house and hire a good architect to work with and exchange some ideas on what type of house you like and what would be an outcome. Nowadays you can have see the outcome of the house you would like and how you imagined it. With autocad you won't have any problems of just looking on the blueprints of your "dream house". so, if you are really like to build your house now. consider first the place, your budget, and find a good architect ;)

Your idea seems to be great. Traditional house with modern facilities. It will really be great. There seems to be one issue with traditional house that I am remembering now. The stability and resistance to the natural calamities like earthquake, landslide, wind storm is questionable. Who would you address this problems?

Now in your cases it seems like you are fade up with traditional houses and for experience you want to take a modern apartment. It is great idea. So then after staying in modern apartment, you will come to know which is better and which has got more shortcomings. Well, we must try to experience everything in life. Life is uncertain and that uncertain life we have got. We may not get once again.

I am now living in an apartment, well-fascilitaed, well-designed, and well-laidout. I am quite happy here, especially because it is not too far to my work place. But, if I have to say my preference, it would be a traditional house out in the country-side in a refreshing pleasant environment. I had lived in such a house during my childhood years, and had been very happy.

Well, I lived in house for many years. I was born in remote village and brought up there. So I really enjoyed living in the traditional house. My house was surrounded by flower gardens, vegetable gardens and also maize. In summer it use to look very beautiful with maize tossing its tassel in the air as if some woman singing traditional song. Lots of birds use to be around our house. They use to make nest around our house. We really loved to see the egg and the chicken of the bird. There use to be many monkeys around the village trying to steal the maize. We use to guard them. Now I am in the modern apartment with lots of other people.

It is good to live traditional home. Being in modern apartment will have lots of social issues. There will be misunderstanding. Suppose of body has broken some glasses of the apartment and if nobody has seen who broke it then every body will have the share the cost. And many more problems will be there.

On personal preference, I'd take the house anytime. I like to own things & be personally responsible for maintaining them, which saves a lot of costs over an apartment's Body Corporate Fees, which are supposed to cover maintenance work (so everything gets paid for by you one way or another!). Apartments are very difficult to change according to personal taste due to the abiding interests of everyone else living in the building. Coming from Down Under, we place a great deal of value on personal space. I've stayed in apartments & couldn't wait to get out of there! But houses, be they mine or someone else's, are so, so much better than apartments to stay in. Better building materials, more peaceful, individual styling which you can alter without having to beg for everyone's consent. Personal space is a rapidly diminishing natural resource that we cannot take for granted anymore - enjoy it whilst you still can! The world population isn't getting any smaller, you know!

Yea, if you stay at home you will be responsible for doing repairing and maintenance works which some people really enjoy. We can change or modify house according to you desire with anybody's permission. It is all upto you.

I am living in a traditional house. And I am used to it. So maybe I prefer to live in a traditional house. But you know, maybe some days later, I can afford a modern apartment building and maybe I am used to it. So I think it is just whether you are used to it.

Yea of course getting adapted is not a problem. We human can get adapted but the thing is we must see which is better and which is having more advantages. As of now you are doing good in traditional house and if it gives you no problem then I find no needs to shift to modern apartment. May be you are doing this for experiences or some security reasons or some other reasons...

I would love to have a traditional house with my boyfriend. But right now we need to save some money to be able to pay for the house and some bills we are trying to pay off right now. Our apartment now is somewhat a traditional house that was split into two stories, two apartments so we have the feel of a house with the apartment. we even have two floors.

Hi. tenrajj. Right now with how I feel, I prefer to live in an traditional house. I feel more at home then. I have lived in an apartment before and, it has been awful! Especially, with my downstairs neighbor giving my family and I grief and stress. It may not be like this for everyone, but it was for me. I believe that anything can stop working if you have an apartment too. I have seen it happen before. With a family of five and three young children, I definitely will need a modern house. I know that I will feel more comfortable living in my own house.

I guess I would prefer living in a modern apartment building. But I have to admit that there are beautiful traditional houses as well, as long as the interior isn't that old-fashioned. You can design it the way you want.

Modern apartment buildings certainly have many advantages for the renter. There are a lot of people using that alternative here now. Houses have become an expensive liability where the chance of having to invest in repairs that doesn't have to be worried about in an apartment complex. For me, I like the traditional house. I like the privacy factor of having one. If someone has small children or wants an area to garden, a traditional house is better in my opinion. I also like the fact that I am not wall to wall with my neighbor. If they are loud or aggravating...that can be tough to manage too. A house can be a huge responsibility though..I think that an apartment is a great alternative until someone is ready to take the responsibility of a house.

Wow! Thank you a lot. You really came up with the great idea and I really appreciate a lot. It is really an excellent idea. We can use modern apartment of better comforts. Your children may love it. We can use traditional houses for spiritualism and keep the sense of culture. Keep all the old instrument inherited from you great great parents in it like in museum. It will be peaceful one. I would love it.

Personally, I prefer modern apartment buildings, out of these two, but the ultimate dream for me would be a modern house of my own. Too bad they are usually crazy expensive, at least where I live....

Yea, the world now is modernized and people are looking for better comforts. Modern building are really great in everything and also it is very expensive. Not only in the place where you live but almost everywhere. If you want lots of space, then living in a modern apartment would cost you a lot. It will be really difficult to pay the rents. We can have lots of rooms and spaces in traditional house at lower cost. That could be one of the advantages of traditional houses.

Hey. The economic in our country grows quickly in recent years. So there're more and more modern modern buildings in many cities. That means more and more traditional houses are pulling down and now few left. I don't think this is a very good thing. Modern apartments have the advantages but also divantages. One is that it's not easy for people to get to know their neighbors.

I really like to live in a traditional house. I want to have my own backyard, plant trees and grow grass. I also want to design my own house, make it personalized in a way. Eventhough it doesn't have the convenience that the modern apartment offers, a tradional house will have my soul carved on it.

Wow! Thanks a lot. I wanna see more people saying they want to live in traditional house. And you really have a great plan. Hope your dream comes true. Yea traditional house may give a better happiness and peace in mind. Spiritualism would develop much better in the traditional house. In modern buildings there will be lots of disturbance as many will be staying on same building. Many tenants will be having children and the noises of the children will really disturb your peace of mind.

I would like to rent modern apartment building since it would offer a number of facilities. After all at the end of the day facilities, especially domestic ones are important. You can get walking spaces, garden, park, security and the like in modern apartment building.

I would prefer to live in a traditional house. My first home was perfect for me. Outside it looked like an old cottage and inside it looked much more modern. Due to it being Grade 2 listed I wasn't able to change its windows unless they were exact copies of the original windows. It would have cost £1,700 to copy the door to the upstairs balcony. So I got my mom to help in renovate the door instead. I wouldn't ever like to live in an apartment. I prefer to have a bungalow or a house on a piece of land so I can enjoy having a garden. Also apart from being on the ground floor with disabled access an apartment would be useless for me. My disabled son is unable to walk and goes around in his wheelchair. We live in the bungalow that I bought last year. It was built in the early 1970s. My cottage that I had owned from age 19 to age 33 years old had been built in 1835. It used to be part of a Victorian Workhouse. Then it was renovated into cottages. I then moved to a modern house and had it for five years. It had been built in the early 1990s. Now I have to live where is practical for my disabled child.

Well, as per my info traditional house nowadays are very minimal since those who are in provinces are also building modern houses design already. I prefer modern house for the reason that I am afraid in traditional house because their might be spirits on it. Hehhe.. Although, I love visiting traditional houses because we can also remember old times sake and happenings.
