Sad person that I am!
In a local freezer shop near Mum's house they sell both shortcrust pastry AND puff pastry that just needs to be de-frosted and rolled out. How awesome is that?
Fortunately, I actually know what to put in the puff pastry as I found an ace recipe in a Dairy Book at Mum's where you roll it out into oblong shapes, score the edges and place cheese and tomato in the middle (or anything you like) and the results are fantastic. They look like mini pizzas and even my Dad loves them (he hasn't got a huge appetite) so a major success all round.
I shall make two tomorrow and I'm hoping John enjoys eating one as his favourite food is probably cheese. Using my Dad's home-grown tomatoes will be great fun too.
Have you discovered a new food that you now can't live without? Obviously, we can't share recipes (only in PMs) but it's great using our imagination!

Well, the brand I've come across is called SWORD but I know Jus-Roll do it but maybe more expensive, due to the brand.
Either way, it's awesome!!

I have not tried using puff pastry. Your plan sounds really good. I have, honestly, not had a problem with putting an occasional recipe with a discussion, but the discussion has to have more appeal than just the sharing of a recipe. You and John enjoy those tomato and cheese creations, they sound great. What kind of cheese will you be using.

Go and look on my profile page photos where there is a pic of a puff pastry cheese and tomato dish that I made a couple of years ago. Very yummy! I love the fact that you are getting into cooking. It is such fun and you have the benefit of knowing just what you are putting inside of you and John.

While in Arkansas recently I was introduced to an Asian Salad. Though I have had plenty of them here something about the way they create them there I can't get enough of it. I have taken the recipe and have made it twice in the 7 days that I have returned. lol Yummy as I have duplicated it just as they do it and Voila we have been enjoying it since.
This will be a keeper and can't wait to do it again.
