I decided to get one of our cats hairball treats. I don't know what else to do for her as it seems like once a week she's making that hocking noise. I don't always see her produce anything, but i certainly hear her hocking. Any other suggestions beyond the hairball treat?

It may not be just hair that is causing this, check her for worms also. However if the treat works you can be pretty sure it's hair. Try to brush her more often and maybe add a little soy oil to her food. Very little.

You can brush her regularly to remove the lose hairs.. that way she won't swallow them while grooming herself. I don't really bother with hairballs.. cats puke, it's a part of life. I do need to get Eclipse to a groomer though.. he's all matted and I can't brush it out. Just waiting to have the money.. which of course isn't going to happen with the fair and back to school coming up.

Let her outside to eat grass, or grow some in a flower pot for her. I have also always heard to grease their feet with margarine, and keep them combed if possible. The indoor formula foods are supposed to help with this. I have given my cats a product called hair ball paste, and many of them have begged for it and licked it straight from the tube.

I feed hairball formula food, and I have in the past given other things for hair balls, but really all I can be sure of is to make sure they aren't on my bed when they toss one up...

I have a long haired cat and she gets hair balls all the time but she's also an outside cat. We try keeping her brushed as much as possible and if she gets them stuck in her fur we cut them out as soon as possible but if you're not finding any caught in her hair or on your floor she should be fine and the treats should help if she's geting small ones you're not finding. Hope this helps some.
