Lack of quality treatment facilities as well as scarcity of beds at government hospitals are pushing people to private hospitals where treatment has to be purchased at a very high cost. In addition, there is a tremendously high rise in cost of medicines and different investigations are always advised with or without reasons; and all these are making the poor poorer. There are many instances where a person had to sell everything he had for affording treatment to dear and near ones.

if the government come forward to help the poor by providing facilities that are required for patients wellfare,i think the quality will improve.

You're right. This is the problem in our country. And It's my problem. I'm very worry if I or my family members are sick. Because the fees for treatment will be very high.

Everything goes up in cost it seems. I am saddened to think that things have gotten this bad. I am glad I live in the US where I think people do have some options. Selling everything and morgaging homes and so forth to help family members afford costly operations and care isn't unheard of here in the US.

In a country like India I think its yet a long way to go from the part of the public government to equip our Goverment hopitals worthy of clean sanitory principles. The MLAs and MPs have do a lot for the development of the institutes not for the monetary gain but to demonstrate more, concern care and compassion for the senior citizens, handicaps, poor and the sick. The private hospitals, not to criticise nastily in public, we all agree that many treatments , even the surgery is being conducted not for the need but just to tap the money.
There should be some protective plan such as health insurance care insurance etc. Many times certain privileges are given basing on caste rather than the economic standard of living.
