Dessert Ideas

I am thinking about cooking bbq ribs tomorrow and egg noodles with some veggies- green beans and something else. I was thinking that I might make a nice dessert too, but I would like to have something that was possibly a chilled desset. Does anyone here have any ideas and a recipe that they would share?

For a heavy main course its better to serve up some light and refreshing dessert rather than heavy and indulgent.Like Vanilla panna cotta and seasonal berries w/ clear caramel sauce or Poached pear with vanilla ice cream. For a light main course or a fish main course its a good choice to balance it out with a heavier more flavorful dessert to remove the fish taste in the tongue.Like a pecan pie or Bread pudding with butter scotch sauce. have a great day =3!

I have always heard that the heavier your meal is the lighter that your dessert should be. I have never tried bread pudding with butter scotch sauce. I bet that is good!

That sounds good. I might fix some BBQ pork. I might also fix some jello. you could do that too.

Jello parfaits would be good and cold. I will have to give that some thought.

Do you know the English dessert 'trifle'? It is basically sponge and fruit,(usually soaked in a little sherry)covered in jelly (jello); on top of the set jelly is custard and it is topped with whipped cream. Served straight from the fridge it is delicious!!

I have never heard of one of these. Sounds good except my husband would not eat it since it hs custard on it and he doesn't like custard.

I love bbq ribs and I rarely ever fix dessert so that is why I am looking for dessert ideas here.

Everytime that I go the restaurants to eat BBQ ribs, I always order dessert too. I like to eat ice cream with chocolate sauce and nuts. Sometimes, I ask for a brownie with ice cream. I don't think this is too heavy.
