Henceforth what should I do?

On several occasions both my questions and answers have been deleted by management of mylot on the charge of violating terms and conditions of the site, thus causing a negative effect on my earnings at mylot. So I have taken a firm decision of thinking twice before starting any new discussion or responding to any such new discussion. This will not only prevent any further loss in my earnings but also reduce wastage of my valuable time as well as energy. So henceforth what should I do: I must wait at least 24 hours after starting any new discussion to see whether it exists and if it is still there and not rejected, I would give my feedback if I think it necessary; in case of any new discussion started by any other mylotter, I will wait for the same period to see the fate and if it is not deleted and if I have anything to comment, I will do it. Moreover, if I think there is any controversy over the topic, I must always try to avoid it. Am I right in my future plan?

If you understand the Guidelines then you will know which topics are going to be deleted by admin and you will not start or respond on those topics. You have many discussions that you have started where you have not yet commented to those who have responded. You can earn a lot by going back and commenting on all of the responses. Those discussions will not be deleted as they have sttod the test of time and are still there so why not spend your time sommenting, and earning, onthose now?

Can I earn still now if I give feedback to those responses which were so long unnoticed and so without any further comments from my end.

Absolutely yes you can! You earn for ALL of your own activity no matter where you post it, if it is within the Guidelines - and the Guidelines say nothing about not posting on old topics.

Yes DoctorDidi and may I suggest that when you have received the email alert saying the discussion was deleted that at that time you open your email alert in one tab and the guidelines in another. This my friend helped me early on to understand why something is being deleted so that I did not make the same continuous errors. Once I opened the guidelines simultaneous I could clearly see what the violation was. Waiting a day is no guarantee that a guideline violation will not be deleted. See admins are humans and they have lots of daily manual sweeps of discussions to review. I have seen old discussions suddenly get deleted. So my friend very advisable to really differentiate the guidelines. I did this so many times early on that I feel I have the guidelines memorized.

Oh nice to hear that it is helpful. Also when you start a discussion, until you learn the guidelines well, open them in another tab and before you submit the discussion, say to yourself; could this be a poll? Could this be solicitation and or a promotion. This helped me a great deal and I have memorized the guidelines this way, so now when I start a discussion I do re-read it before submitting and ask my self the guideline questions, it really does help and hope it does you too.

Yes, you have discovered a nice way for correction of our common faults which we cannot avoid while we do them. I must follow your advice.

didi, the best thing is to thoroughly go through the guidelines of mylot and see what they say about discussions that are prohibited. Many times we respond to discussions that seem innocuous but find that the entire discussion as well as your answer has been deleted. It happened to me when i opened my inbox today.I found a notification saying that my answer has been deleted because the discussion violated the guidelines.Best thing is to avoid controversial topics.

Well i guess that's right. Or you can just make yourself an expert in knowing whether such is a violation of the guidelines or not. One veteran here in mylot can immediately tell if the discussion will be deleted or not. She has gained expertise over the years with the guidelines, but i haven't. So when in doubt i just transfer the discussion to my pending folder.

From what I understand from the guidelines, is that they do not like poll type posts, such as what do you think is better, this or that? And they also do not like an out right blatant question type post. Also, they do not like short quick responses. Just read the guidelines and you will not have to worry to much. I do believe that most of us here has had a discussion deleted at some point.

Rather than waiting up to 24 hours to know whether the discussion being "accepted" or no, I think it is better to read the guidelines carefully before posting any discussion :) Read it on point to point. And when you are sure that your discussion wouldn't violate any guidelines, post it

In spite of reading the guidelines carefully, I often cannot resist the temptation of posting a discussion that might be deleted by mylot management.

Several things you might think about. You are right in your future plan. you should re-read the Do's and Don't's in the Guidelines. I think alot of times members ask silly questions that seem very good to them but in all actuality is mundain and silly. We must stand by the most important aspect of what we want to do here and that is write quality posts.

Perhaps you get encouraged by looking at the responses given by some veterans to topics that are guidelines violations. These veterans know they are guidelines violations but still respond in the interest of the user.
