i just recently hit the half century mark, still feel the same [healthy, i guess] and with the physical obvious signs of advancing age-related wrinkles and HIV [hair is vanishing], lol! i remember a couple of years back i used to be called big brother ["kuya" in our language] by most of people i met, now they call me "tatay" [father], and adding damage to injury, an incident again for the 2nd time, someone complimented me of having a lovely daughter [who actually happens to be my wife!], lol! i guess i'm kind of a little bit feeling odd regarding these remarks, and i guess i really am old!

The half century is something that passes almost unnoticed. But eventually, people start giving up their seat to you on buses, and things like that. Then you just have to believe that you are getting old! Believe me, soon you get to enjoy being old.

yeah, in the event that i do got certain privileges then that is the time probably i would enjoy being old, lol! the fact that being old, i mean physically, would then be advantageous and to some extent realizing the attention and care given to such status.

hi:) I think 50 is still young, you still have another less than a century left, and don't you want that you already got your promotion and now you already a father instead of a brother only?on higher rank now hehe... lol I just want to cheer you up:) but kidding aside you don't need to feel that way you're still young and according that comment about your wife, just be proud, it means you know how to take care of her, coz if you don't perhaps they are calling her now your mother... lol!:)

actually i still feel young as if i was in my 30's despite the deteriorating physical attributes. i just feel the promotion from brother to father was so fast, lol! well, actually with the compliments she has been getting, i do feel proud but then again being branded as a DOM[dirty old man] is another thing, lol!

I think a person is only as old as they feel. I also think to do one's best to take care of one's self health wise contributes to the person looking healthier on the outside also. I personally am of the belief that a person's heart, or the kind of person they are on the inside, is actually allot more important then how they look on the outside. But try telling society that.

the physical aspect of being old is sometimes a mistaken perception or image of what people get which is for that matter a casual reaction of what they see. i do know what is in my heart and how i look and assess at life itself. i don't mind what others thin, but what matters is i am alive, old and well.

Congratulations for scoring a half century. Would like to see you score a century. You are ageing gracefully.I am 45 so am not too far from you. People do call me uncle etc etc. I did feel bad in the beginning. But now i have accepted it as part of life. At least you are married and a father. But i am still a bachelor and am referred to as an uncle. Isn't it sad? hehe

thanks! i don't really mind being called 'father' or 'uncle' as i think categorically its a gesture of respect, at least, although it is quite so uncomfortable especially those who are almost my age [especially my sons' teachers] calling me 'father'.

Everyone thinks you are old? Hey, I know better. You have a young mind and body locked up in that old appearance. Don't let their remarks sadden you. Look at your wife often and enjoy your remaining youth. It's ok to feel odd, just don't feel old.

I feel the same. I growing older chronically and the signs of ageing are there, I too have 'hair is vanishing'. But I feel so young inside. Time seems to be flying by I get older but don't feel it. To answer your question yes you really are that old but surely feeling younger can only be a positive thing.

feeling young and looking old are contradicting because most of the time it is expected for us to comply or reflect what is expected of us due to the physical status that we project to earn respect, lol! though i really don't mind looking old, but i guess there are instances of what you feel is quite different from what you look.

Hi Obe, I think you have a wife who manages to look young despite her age. If you tell everyone that she is your wife, and about as old as you, I think she would not talk to you for days. Anyway, you still have more than 30 years to go, judging by the average lifespan. If you have good genes, another half a century to feel old.

actually there is a 10-year difference in our age, and you're right she really has managed to maintain her healthy lifestyle thus still looking young and making me look older, lol! hopefully i could still get another 30 years or so, it does not matter if i look old as long as i stay healthy.

I'm in my thirties and just like you, I still have a feeling that I look and feel young but reality sets in when someone else calls me manong or I look at someone and thought well they look matured only to find out that I am actually older than them.

Don't feel bad about yourself, that's a normal thing. The best thing you could do for yourself, make yourself look younger with the way you dress up, if your hair is vanishing you could use a cap to cover it. And stay healthy by eating nutritious foods. You're wife know the secret to look younger, you could ask he for help.

Hey you are as old as you feel. If you have lead healthy life style you can slower ageing process a little bit. As long as you take care about your self you can fully enjoy your life and feel young. Remember that age is only label. I wish you all the best.

i feel young, quite healthy, but physically looks obviously old probably secondary to the HIV [hair is vanishing]. i think my crowning glory is main reason and the total bald head is what i am looking forward of having in the near future hopefully this would go with the trend.

I will be 70 in a couple of years, but I've never really felt old. About 10 years ago I was traveling and stopped to get a cola at McDonald's to help me keep awake, since I don't like coffee. I was taken aback when the young clerk charged me only for a senior coffee, since I hadn't even asked for it. I was a senior, but I didn't realized I looked that old. I really didn't even know my hair was as gray as it is, since the lighting by the mirror in the bathroom makes it look more like light brown. This was my wake-up call at having to face up to my age. I still feel 25 inside, though. I once asked an 89-year-old cousin when she started feeling grown up, and she said she didn't know yet. So I guess this feeling young inside is pretty common.
