What do you hate about commuting (taking public vehicles)?

I don't like to commute when the weather's hot and because of the gray to black smoke from all those public vehicles! I'm not being sensitive but I cannot really take the heat and the air pollution. I went somewhere in Quezon Avenue and in Visayas Avenue this morning and afternoon, respectively and I was really frustrated with having to commute especially because of the smoke-belching vehicles. But I didn't have a choice because my boss's service vehicle wasn't available. I had to take jeepneys. I really wish I have my own car.

The thing I hate is the slow moving public vehicles. Since they need to get passengers, those jeepneys and buses really thread the traffic and stay there for as long as they want. Really annoying especially if you are late. That is one convenience of having a private car with you. You can always go with the fast lanes. And yes, the pollution is superb. You are in your freshest suit and suddenly the black, foul smoke runs all over you. Another thing while commuting with buses is that they overload their transport with a lot of standing passengers. This is also the same case with the public trains. That's life. You better start saving for that car of yours.

I've ridden a bus that's super slow because the driver was trying to pick up passengers from anywhere he can. It's really annoying. There was a time when I was going to Manila, I rode the bus when it was still dark, but because the driver was driving slowly, the sun has already risen up and we haven't even gone far! I really hate it when I smell of smoke because of the pollution. It's like taking a bath every morning is useless!

Yes, that is really the case when commuting. The pollution can really make you unpleasant. I perspire a lot and it really makes it uncomfortable when I sweat profusely while commuting. The buses cases are extremes. There those buses that really will make you late for your schedule due to numerous pick ups and loading waiting time and there are buses that will surely rock your world like a roller coaster ride due to the super fast and racing style of driving. Those are the ones that doesn't make me sweat profusely, however, those are also the ones which screws my hair badly due to the fast wind blowing on the opposite side!

That is why I really prefer riding an airconditioned bus. Do you notice that most airconditioned buses are slower than the ordinary ones? I love to be comfortable so as much as possible, I ride these kinds of buses.

I don't hate riding the public vehicles... I love them... I like the smell of the polluted air, the gasoline the smog, the smoke, the flying cofffins(buses) the smell of perspiration, the banging of bodies when riding the commuter train and the most exciting one when you stand riding in a bus beside a beautiful lady... Ohhh.. I love it! How exciting...

Well, I'm pretty sure I don't look that way to any males I've been in a public transport! Much less take advantage of them. OMG, I would never do that. And I always make sure I don't smell like sweat when I take public transportation. I mean, whenever I go out and I get sweaty, I always apply talc powder so I won't smell sweaty anymore.

Yup... I'm weird hahahah... just kidding of course who would like to to smell and experience all these hassles brought about by riding public vehicles... but please disabuse your minds ladies when you say someone, a male for that matter who might show interest in you it does not mean to say that he's a pervert... and if males are guilty of this so females are! It's nothing personal it's just a show of appreciation for females and you should not be angry about it as we males do not get angry or feel uncomfortable if you do the same... We are just human... and for those who you think do not take a bath and so smell awful they're not... again females are also guilty of this it's just that you cannot distinguish it because they are wearing make ups and using all types of perfumes that are available in the market...

I do not use public transportation very often, most of my experiences have been good, but if it is really hot and stuffy it can be very uncomfortable or if you get stuck inside squished against the side because the person sitting next to you is on the large side or if somebody smells. Those are things that make it uncomfortable. Of course there can always be strange people as well.

I also hate it when I'm squished between persons especially if they are sweaty ones! There are times when it's raining but it would be hot inside the vehicle. I really don't like it. I feel like I'm going to suffocate.

The only thing I hate commuting is the frequent stops of public vehicles especially jeeps, they even put up an illegal terminal on every corners which can be also cause of major traffic on the streets.

It is not easy to commute especially on a hot weather. I don't like to ride on a jeep if its full. SOmetimes the driver makes an 8 passenger jeep fit 12. Sometimes a passenger will be a bit fat and it will not be easy fitting in another one. ON a hot weather people will be sweating and some have body odor too. Sometimes the driver thinks that he is driving an airplane and not a jeep because he is driving too fast. Some drivers can't hear you when you ask him to stop. It is also not easy to ride a jeep when it is raining. I'd rather commute on a hot weather than commute on a rainy day. I remember when I was in high school and my dad can't drop me off to school, I need to commute. Our school Uniform is White and if it is raining, I have to be careful or else, my white uniform will be polka dot designed before I reach school. I agree it is not easy commuting.

Commuting has become part of our daily life package. we only wish the roads are good, the traffic is less and the pollution is lesser than the traffic. All said and done unless and until the green revolutions is implemented across, we will have to face the smokes and the the side effects that we will face...Have a mask covered till you have this resolved with a new car :-)

I hate the people who smoke on public vehicles. Some jeepneys and unairconditioned buses even have no smoking signs posted, but unsurprisingly those are only as good as designs since most drivers smoke inside their vehicles while driving. I also hate those drivers who starts to accelerate even if there is a passenger or passengers getting out of the vehicle. It is not really safe.

Hi brew! I hate it when jeepney drivers are smoking while they are driving. The smoke would always be blown by the wind inside the jeepney to the passengers. And it's more annoying when I see a "No smoking" sign inside the jeepney of a smoking driver. So I agree, it's more of a design than a warning.

I hope someday you will have your own car. I have mine and that's how I get around. But I live in a smaller town and there's not much pollution from vehicles...unlike in a city.

Hello secret-bear, You should always consider putting a handker chief to your mouth and nose. probably because you haven't gotten use to the smoke since you're riding your bosses car. it's not easy though but having a new car would provide you with additional expenses. more likely when it comes to paying high gas or fuel or maintenance. Have a Nice day

Don't you think I cover my nose and mouth whenever there's smoke? I even hold my breath! That's only a wishful thinking. That's why I said "I wish..."

Whenever I go I will need to take public transport (bus/monorail) since I don't have my own transport. I don't take cab because the price is more expensive than the bus. I admit that sometimes I hate to face the crowd and the weather-makes me feel double triple tired but I don't have a choice. Sometimes I do like the environment anyway.Going to other places with so many 'strangers'...(^^)

Ohh, I hate everything about commuting! I was about to start this topic but you already started. here is my experience in commuting! I live in a far rural area now. Commuting here to the main city means less than an hour travel. But if I'll drive my parents car, it will just be 15 to 20minutes. We have a common terminal here for public transport going to the city. But the jeepney will not go UNLESS it is full of passengers! Passenger waiting will take about 30minutes or more! Sometimes, the lined transportation is mini-bus and it really takes time to be full! So how many hours will be that for an 16 kilometer?

I hate to wait, too. Here in our neighborhood, I have to ride a tricycle to get to the office. I don't like to ride a tricycle in the terminal because I always get late whenever I do so I walk past the terminal until a tricycle drives by me and then I will just call it to ride. That way I won't have to wait since the tricycle is not in the terminal.

I never did like commuting, there's too much people, traffic and pollution. What I hate the most is that when you're in a hurry and the driver is still waiting for more passengers without a care for your time. This is the reason why I either drive my car or my motorcycle - I prefer my motorcycle since it beats traffic, down side is that when it rains, you better bring your raincoat.

So I commute whenever I go to Manila or somewhere far. And I don't like driving under the rain so I commute whenever it's raining.

the first thing i don't like when i commute is the driver, who drives on even though the passenger hasn't reached solid ground yet ;) second, sad to say when the weather is too hot, it is really unfortunate to be sitting next to someone who has body odor, believe me...

Hi! That is something I really avoid. Ordinary buses usually do that, the driver starts the bus already even if the passenger hasn't fully alighted yet or if the passenger hasn't fully climbed inside the bus yet. I really hate it that's why I don't ride ordinary buses. I believe you!

he he oh.. yeah that is wwhat i dont like about public transport. you can't rely on the traffic because even if you were early, the buses would be lining up all trying to fill the whole bus for hours, same with the mrt station because you need to be ready that at any moment, it will broke down again.

So the MRT has lost its credibility to you? ^^ I have only experienced getting stranded in an MRT once. But most of the time, it worked fine, but of course most of the time, it was jam-packed.

If it's company business then you can request for a taxi ride or at least an airconditioned FX or bus. That's what I do, whenever we have company meeting I always took a taxi or request for a company vehicle.

commuting public vehicle is my daily life going to office and home. What i hate are: when driver's do slow drives and stop every person who are standing on the street just to pick up passengers. When drivers stay long at the jeepney stop and no one is riding with them And when drivers run so fast as if he's going to fly the jeepney.

I've experienced riding a jeepney from the terminal and the long wait really irritates me a lot! But I cannot do anything since if I choose to wait beyond the terminal, there wouldn't be much space left in the jeepney.

We really can't help it because that is just the way it is here in our country especially there. in Manila. But that is more tolerable than when maniac comes to sit beside you or having males looking at you like they are taking off your clothes and the fear that there might be hold-upers coming up to rob from everyone. Just is just the two that I hated most. The smoke and the dust are in the 3rd category of he most hate. I hope that it changes. Some operators are just too stingy and selfish not to get emission test even at least periodically.

Hi thetis! I have never experienced having a malicious person sit beside me and thank God I haven't. Although I have encounter some who looks very maliciously. It's really an annoying experience. And I haven't experienced having the vehicle I'm riding to be robbed. Thank God I haven't. That would really be scary.

What I really hate about commuting is that the pollution created by vehicles especially buses. Reckless motorcycle drivers who suddenly pop out when you go out of your vehicles. And last but not the least to ride a very packed train and which you are susceptible of pickpocketing.
