Uniquely Singapore

Philippines

I had a vacation in Singapore and all i could say is... Wow! I spent most of my days there walking to and fro in malls and their beautiful places. It was actually very tiring because we dont get to sit that much on the way. The sites can be visited via trains. Ive gone to Raffles, Esplanade, Marina Bay, Buguis, Mustafa, Sentosa and Orchard. I even visited my employer's regional office in Anson! What makes Singapore so unique then? I was amazed with how they were able to blend in different cultures of different peoples from all across the globe. It is as if the race ratio is 1:1. We rode a cable car and saw that there are many buildings being put up so I thought, more buildings mean more investments equals more employment. It is not so surprising how Singapore is the #1 tourist destination in Asia, if not the world (well, i have not travelled the world yet though). I am a Filipina. Asked about my feelings about Singapore, it is a mixture of envy and amazement. My country Philippines used to be #1 during the era of Pres Marcos. Would anyone believe that Philippines is the first country here in Asia who had airlines? Many foreign diplomats used to study alongside with the Filipinos, i guess this would mean that education then was of par excellance. It is true what Bingbong Marcos said, "Philippine would have been a Singapore today." Dang! The title of this thread is Uniquely Singapore and yet here i am comparing my country to theirs. I just couldnt help it.

I love Singapore as well. It is one of the safest countries in the world I would say. I like how disciplined the people are, not only the locals but even foreigners. I also like the fact that it is really clean. I am a Filipina too. I didn't know about our country being the first in Asia to have airlines. We are really off to a great start but eventually slowed down in all aspects. Philippines used to have the finest films or movies as well as electronics before too. I'm still keeping my hopes high, it is never too late to start anything as long as people work hard and believe. But nobody can do it alone, everyone of us should do something.

I have traveled to Singapore three times and really like it there. The first time I was on my trip around the world arriving and the second time I was on my trip around the world coming back from Sumatra and Malaysia. On my third trip I went there on my way home from Western Australia. Raffles is an excellent old hotel to look at but I couldn't afford to stay there. I liked going to Sentosa. I found Orchard Rood lovely for shopping and got many bargains. On my last trip there I really enjoyed going to the national park. I loved riding on the mono rail. I found Singapore on my first trip a lovely introduction to Asia. Singapore is a small island and it packs much into it in order to be excellent. I am glad that you really enjoyed it there.

Hello Grace. Nice to see you. That was an excellent presentation about Singapore and your own country the Philippines. Both are, indeed, highly developed countries in the Southeast Asia region. I have been to Singapore a number of times, just once to the Philippines, only to Manila, on business trips. I was very much impressed with both countries. I look forward to visiting again. Thank you. Have a nice day !

I'm so happy that you've enjoyed your stay in Singapore, especially the places you've mentioned. I agree with you that Philippines is no. 1 in Asia during the time of Pres. Marcos because of our natural resources, tourists spots etc. (Hoping this will happen again.. ^_^ )
