Maybe my cousin should not expose where he is at on vacation

We love to share our great moment with our dear friends in facebook, but maybe we should on guard against those predators, and those scamsters on those social networking sites also. Lately, my cousin was on his trip to Seattle, and he posted his locations and where he went and what he saw at the locals with friends and us. I just worried that some malicious scamsters might take this perfect opportunity to scam his family or other relatives. Some scamster might impersonate a good friend of my cousin and tell my uncle or aunt that my cousin is in injured and in need of money at the moment, and the money is desperately needed to wire to such, such account. I hate it, and I might have to check on this. I also should warn my cousin about his exposure of where he is at. What do you think?

Hi, I would agree with you. I don't share any personal information or any locations where I am on Facebook. On the internet, private is not truly private. I also wait until I return from a trip to post pictures. Lastly, it is important for your cousin to make sure that his security settings specify, "Friends Only."

I would never tell that information either. You never know what might happen while you are gone. You cannot trust anyone these days and you should not tell things like that.

Even though I have my FB page set up so that only my friends can see any info about me, I am still cautious. I'm not as afraid of someone finding out that I am gone and then trying something like you said as I am of someone seeing that I will be gone for a while and deciding to break into my house. When I go on vacation, I wait unti I get back to share my pics and experiences.

That's true. Prudence is very important everytime you post something on any social network site.Scamsters are very privy to their supposed victims. Warn him so that he will enjoy his vacation , worry-free.:-) It's nice to have a vacation you know. But if one will worry because of some threat or problem it is better not to have one.
