Aunt Zhou told my mom that a man break into her house from the window in the kitchen in the midnight the day before yesterday. She and her husband were sleeping while the door's squeaking, and she suddenly became awakened. She ran to the door where only left the back of the thief. But fortunately there's nothing stolen and no one gets hurt. I feel it's just like a thriller! I can't feel the security now! what if this happens to you, mylotters?

It is so horrible to hear that. Fortunately nobody gets hurt from it. But it reminds you to be much more careful at usual. If it happens to me, I am not sure what to do. Perhaps I will grab my cellphone to make a call to the police. And then use some chairs or weapons to try not to let the thief enter. I love China

hey youless! Are you a Chinese too? I also think we need to protect ourself and the family when something dangerous happens. How's the public security in your area? I never heard a burglary be in my district before. It's really horrible.

Yes, I am a Chinese. As you can understand, the crimes are always terrible in the big cities. I live in Guangzhou and I don't feel safe here.

It is no longer safe nowadays as break-ins seem to be happening everyday and everywhere. The robbers have not only outsmart the cops but also the tight security of the houses. They have become very professional crooks. I have my former house burgled but I was not around when it happened and the thieves almost emptied the whole house. The grills, cc camera and alarms can't deter any professional robbers. If the robbers break in my house when I am around, I will not leave my bedroom but will immediately alert the police and my neighbors. Robbers who enter our territories are dangerously armed and we should not take the risk to confront them.

I agree with you! it's uncertain what will happen. it's not the fists but the wisdom that we should use to fight the thief.

We have a dog, and he barks if there is a any kind of noise. He hears everything even the smallest things that my husband and I don't notice and I know that he would bark really loud if someone tried to break into the house. He already saved us once. In the house where we lived before someone tried to break in, but they ran away when they heard our dog. Afterwards we could see that they had damaged the frontdoor because they were trying to get in that way, but fortuneately our dog scared them away and they never managed to get through the door.

Its hard to sleep knowing someone else was in your house. She is luck as no one stole any of her stuff. My house was broken into this year in January right after christmas and alot of things were gone as my moms entire Jewlery box was gone and all the drwaers were missing. I still think about it till this day and it hard to think about. Not having my little jewlery box id id have is also hard and i wish i could get my stuff back but they say they pawn things right away and you dont know if that pawn shop keeps it or sells it to another one so its hard to locate your stuff. The person was caught and is in jail and he robbed about 60 houses during a 3 month span and there were two girls and four guys that did this. On my street they got 2 houses and my mom says they went in to our houses because there are no cars in the driveway during the day and then also there the nicest houses on the block. It was very hard to sleep at night knowing that someone was in the house that night.

Definitely! When I was told this whole thing last night, I couldn't help imaging the moment that thief gets in, though this hasn't happen to me ever. It must be a nightmarish experience. But you got the thief, so don't be too sensitive, otherwise you don't sleep well. Just remember to close all the windows and the front door and back door before you fall asleep, and get something near your bed in case you can use to defend yourself. God bless you! lologirl~

Living is getting so difficult because of the lack of jobs, and increasing cost. Because of these difficulties, people resort to stealing. Not to mention, the values of many are going down the drain. With your question, if this happens to me, I would pray and be thankful that I still have my life and my family's safe. I would thank God for taking care of us. I guess we cannot get very much protection from the bad elements out there. But if we hold still and pray hard to our Lord, then we found the safest place ever. Have a nice day.

Hello whforget, If this happen to me I would call the cops although it wouldnt I have alarms in my house that will scare the thiefs away. Your aunt should've call the police and report the thief even though she may have not seen the thiefs face, if there are any security cameras around the area or a few blocks down they can look back and see what he was wearing, this thief could be going to many houses at night stealing things in homes, he has to be stopped please report him he can come again you never know.

Hi Judy, Unfortunately, in china, the cameras are not used as widespread as in the states, for example, there are few in my community......my aunt called the police later and she told it to the neighbourhood. I hope the neighbourhood watch scheme could work and the thief will be caught finally! have a nice day~

I have thought of such thing before. It's really scary to have that kind of experience. If I were in the position I would grab any long and hard thing I could use to hit the thief. And If he got inside already I'll call the police immediately. I'll be quiet and just stay in my room so that he'll think that I'm still asleep and have no idea about him. But at that moment I'll make sure I called the police already. I'll stay quiet until he finds me but I'll be ready with a rod in my hands.

Wow I am assuming that was a robber and though he didn't steal anything it was scary! If that happened to me, I would not want to sleep alone in my room and would close all the windows and doors, regardless of the burning heat outside. And it would have been worst if I were alone

That would be very scary.I'm happy that nothing bad happened. I would be so happy to be alive if something like that happened in our home. When some breaks into your home we never know we can always assume their intentions are bad. I would try to have more security precautions. There are security measures that don't cost much. When I lived on my own I had this little security set that you put on your door and the door frame. If that is separated it goes off. It had an on and off switch that you could set before you go to bed. It was great for me, it gave me added security and I got it at the dollar store for a dollar.
