How stupid can we be?

One of the most stupid things I have heard was a complaint about one of the Dancing with the Stars contestants. People claiming that the inclusion of this person will corupt there children. Well folks the choice is up to you, have you forgotten you are in charge of what you watch on TV? No one is forcing you to watch TV, you can choose another channel or even turn the set off. What a stupid waste of energy this is. My rant for the day.

How are they supposidly going to corrupt the kids anyways? They're dancing. It's not like they'll be shown drinking , smoking pot & killing people while doing the two step.

They felt that having Shair's trangender child on the show would be confusing and upseting to the children. I think it's the adults that are upset and confused. All I want to know is if he can dance.

I don't see how being transgendered even matters myself. He's a girl born in a boys body( I hope I'm guessing right ), so what? Heck if they notice & are a bit confused it would be the perfect time to explain such things to your kids BEFORE they run into it up close in the real world & really embaris themselves.

If you have to explain it to your kids don't call it a "problem" though. That automatically casts a negative light on it. It's just something that occurs once in a while.

I know I had seen various comments about the roster on the new DWS. Well guess what just as you said Pat you don't have to watch the show if you don't like someone or all of them. It was sad to see them complain about various people, when honestly the complaint should be why are there not more "A" rated or "B" rated stars instead of folks that are at the bottom of the barrel? But truly it's because those people are actually working on other projects and probably don't have the time or were not offered enough money compared to other things to appear on the show.

Is this all because of Chaz bono being on it? For petes sake either don't let your kids watch it..or here's an idea, don't tell your kids that Chaz used to be a woman! Geez, if they are watching it's for the dancing, and they'd never be able to tell that Chaz used to be a woman. Are you telling me their kids have never seen a guy with long hair that looked like a girl, or a girl that had short hair that made her look a little like a boy? Come on, isn't it about time people grow up and learn to accept everyone?

Count yourself lucky to be able to see your tv programs uncensored. What we see in our programs are not only selected programs but they are heavily censored. No kissing, hugging and indecently dressed actresses are allowed to be screened in our tv screens.

Zandi, I like my TV uncensored. But I'm curious--are your instances or pregnant teens higher or lower than the U.S.? Is your rape rate lower? I've always wondered if TV made a difference. Do they also censor out violence or just physical affection?

Pat and Bubbles, I found some stats. Rape is .30 per 1000 in U.S. and .05 in Malaysia. Total violent crimes in U.S. is 80.39 per 1000 and 6.97 in Malaysia. I'm sure there are other factors to consider besides television but violence and foul language is also censored. It sounds as if Malaysian television is equal to the way U.S. television used to be in the 50's and early 60's.

Id like to know too. I cant believe theres all this fuss about a dancing show. Sounds like some people dont have a life and need to find petty things to nag about. Im all for uncensored tv, books, speech, and everything else!!

I agree, they have a choice and can switch the tv off or over. How are our children supposed to grow up without prejudice when the adults are themselves over something which actually is a medical condition a person was born with. Children are so accepting of others, wish more adults were. Huggles. Ellie :)

Very stupid if you let your life lived by a tv channel or what others watch and if you waste your time and energy complaining about nothing.

I would guess that complaining about television is one of the least productive uses of our time. I do not even know who is on these shows. Maybe kids should not be watching it anyway. I have seen too much of four year olds wanting to dress in provocative clothes, and kids doing stunts and spins and whirls in all the wrong places at the wrong time. Of course my complaints along this line are not going to do any good either. I think complaining often is a waste of breath.

Hi savypat, I guess we're all entitled to a rant once in a while. I agree that was a stupid complaint, we all know that we can turn off the TV, or at least change channels. No one person is better than another in any case. Blessings.

Yes you are right. The choice is up to the person who is watching TV. If any program me is not liked he or she can change the channel or switch off the TV. None is forcing him or her to watch TV.

I hate it when they want to take something off the tv or movies because it might be a)offensive, b) hurt kids, c) not be politically correct, d) etc!! Pu-lease!! We are in charge of what we want to watch or not watch. I dont want the government in my bedroom or in my house telling me what I can watch or not. If something is not for kids, turn the TV off if there are kids in the room......period!! Its been my rant of the day for a while now too. Why do we want to be controlled so much. I thought we both lived in a free country (mine and yours) with freedom of speech. Grrrrrr Its the same thing with foods, they want to make it illegal to sell certain foods....why?

Now, that is really stupid. How could having Chaz Bono on Dancing with the stars corrupt the children? I for one don't watch the show because I think the show itself is stupid. Now for a joke, I think having Nancy (Nasty) Grace on will corrupt everyone, not just the children. LOL.

Thanks for the rant. I don't watch the show but I felt that complaining about a certain contestant is beyond the roof. Your justifications are right, I don't even want to think why people waste their energy complaining when they can do it for more better purposes - like explaining how the world works and why some people are different from other people and why are there a many beliefs in this world. Freedom of expression is a great tool to be democratic but overusing it and abusing makes the point moot. I guess some of the people are stupid but it make me glad that there are also some people that can point out the stupidity and the immaturity of the said thing.

Hahaha. That is absolutely right. People can choose what they want to watch on tv, why do they waste time on complaining on what they saw. Why cant just they turn off they tv or watch other channel that they want. People sometimes say things stupidly sometimes.

I have had many people tell me, in other discussions, that a television is a necessity. I can't believe that, but apparently people feel they have to watch it and let their children watch it, too. You are right, we have control of the television AND we have control of our children--at least, for now. There were many shows I wouldn't allow my children to watch and they groused about it but I was captain of that ship and they knew it. I think watching television when you have children at home is mostly destructive. It teaches them to live vicariously instead of living their own lives. Instead of staring at a box it would be much more fun for families if they'd dust off the board games and books and interact. Television was a great idea but people have turned it into just another way to control society.

I just looked at the pairings and I see Chaz Bono will be on the show. Is that what all the fuss is about? A nice middle-aged man who spent most of his life in the wrong body? How petty people can be! On the other hand I can see narrow-minded people complaining about Nancy Grace. It's a dancing show, for cripe's sake..lighten up, people!
