What do you do when you find a spider in your house? Do you smash it? Get someone else to smash it? Capture it and safely move it back outside? We recently found a HUGE spider in our son's bedroom. It got smushed. Then my husband clean the whole room from top to bottom, looking for more of them.

We just let them stay on their place. It doesn't disturb us anyway. Spider's web help catch mosquito. So they help our life in a little way. But huge spiders are scary. I can't even stay near from it. So let it go.

Definitely. Any spider I see in my bedroom is dispatched pretty quickly if it's not a daddy-long-legs.

Correct! Just leave them be. But if they're really big spiders, it's best to catch them and throw them out. You wouldn't want them crawling on you while you sleep now would you?

Spiders are our friends. Mostly. If one bites me, I may kill it in vengeance, but usually I leave spiders alone. I hate flying insects. Spiders eat flying insects. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. If I came across a Black Widow I would probably kill it for safety reasons, and if a spider big enough to carry me off ever came around it would have to die, but most camp out in the corners and windows looking for stupid flying insects and I wish them luck! I do not like smush, so I usually will try to catch and release spiders. I might think differently though if I found a huge one in the baby's room.

THere are goos spiders and bad spiders. We have in our country a rather small spider that lives in dark places in the houses. It can kill you. But the larger garden spiders (the daddy log leg kind) eats their eggs. So, whenever I see a garden spider inside my house I greet it unless it´s near my bed (I would then place it somewhere else). The other spider, should I see it, I´d kill it immediatly.

I know what you mean! I live alone and have a spider only once in a while at my home. But when I clean my library I start with the spray, leave the room closed for a time and then I start taking out the books. Bad spiders love places like that.

marguicha, I hear you. Black Widows like to hide in our book cases. Those ladies do upset me, so close to my husband's bed. So far we don't have the brown recluse here, or so they say.

The brown recluse is ours. It even has a chilean passport, but noone wants to accept it so it stays here. We don´t have Black Widows that I know of, though. There is another poisonous spider in my country that hides near the wheat in the country. But the brown recluse could be in my house in this very minute. I am always spraing the shelves, but I don´t have much faith in them.

When i was younger and saw a spider i would be the one screaming hiding and looking for someone to get it away from me. Now i just do it myself. if i don't take too long and hesitate i can usually handle it myself before i have to call in reinforcements.

I don't like to smash the spider which i find in the house because i watch animal planet & discovery channel very often & i knew that the spiders which we find in our houses are very very less harmful while compared to those we find in the forest

No two ways about it noner..They will be smashed either by me or anyone else if they are around. I am scared of these creatures as I know they can sting and harm us. Who has time to look to see if they are the harmless kind?

When I went into my front room yesterday, which used to be a shop-front, there was a huge spider-web right across the enormous window! Sitting bang in the middle was a little garden-spider, obviously in the wrong place. So I went into the kitchen to get my 'bug-jar' and carefully popped him in so I could release him in the back garden. I never deliberately kill any spider. They all have their jobs to do. Just think what our houses and gardens would be like without them: full of nasty flies! My property is very old and it cultivates enormous spiders but they are all harmless, if a little scary at times. I have respect for them and leave them to get on with their jobs!

Hi nonersays.. First off.. HA HA!!! I think its so funny that you 'smushed' a spider.. and secondly.. YOUR HUSBAND WAS CLEANING!.. LoL this is just an amazement *a man cleaning, and because of spiders!!*.. :) Personally.. I like to remove them safely.. however sometimes I leave them to it.. and then there are the rare occassions were I do kill them (*but I feel guilty afterwards*) :(.. (",)

Spiders in the Bathtub - This spider was found in our bathtub. It was in the act of wrapping up another smaller spider that was beside it.
The proper place for most spiders, in my opinion, is outside the house. If I find anything but a daddy-long-legs in the house, I usually vacuum it up. My husband called me yesterday to deal with this spider (1 1/2 inch long) he found in the bathtub. He actually wanted me to photograph it first. After reading all the kind things you all have said, I decided to catch this spider and his victim and turn them loose outside, which I just did. For sure they couldn't continue living where they were. Now, can anyone tell me the name of this spider? I can't find my field guide.
